Many mechanics I've met are parts replacers or figure out problems by process of elimination, but not Erith. I've met his father Vaughn briefly and obviously his father taught him well. Let me enumerate his 5+ star qualification: 1) Availability: My newish Cummins diesel broke down at sunset and I needed to be up and running for my Saturday charters. I had called several mechanics in a panic and was either getting v/m or told they could possibly see me Saturday afternoon or on Monday. When I got a hold of Erith of AAA Marine, he said he was having dinner with his gf but would come down and help me out. He was up in Santa Barbara, I'm in Marina del Rey! He stopped by his shop to get the parts he thought we needed (he was right) and promptly arrived in 2.5 hours. This scenario has now unfortunately played out three times since then with various break-downs. Each and every time Erith has accommodated me and got me up and running very quickly. 2) Expertise: I can only speak for my Cummins & ZF package but Erith quickly and efficiently has diagnosed problems over the phone and in-person with quick repairs. Besides his proficiency in the diagnosis and repair he is extremely thorough and detail oriented. 3) Value: Although not inexpensive, knowing that I'm getting it done the right way and quickly is the definition of value as far as I'm concerned. Down time whether for a commercial vessel or one's weekend play toy is expensive in lost revenue or valuable "play time". 4) Honesty/personality: Besides his good natured personality, I've never felt he's B.S.'d me or overcharged me for a service. Besides his get-it-done philosophy he's enjoyable to work around. No wonder commercial guys from San Diego to Santa Cruz go to this shop for their diesel repairs--these guys at AAA Marine are first class all the way.

Kyle, the sales person I was dealing with is fantastic. He has a great attitude, very knowledgeable and extremely responsive. Kyle got my trailer all taken care of on the business end and then turned me over to the service department to complete the work. Everyone in the service department is top notch. This has been the only boat repair service that I've ever left happy. All of the guys in the service department are very helpful and friendly, which I am not used to when dealing with boat people. They gave me a tour of their entire facility which is new, indoors and quite large. All of their repairs seem to happen in a large, clean and fully stocked Costco sized warehouse. They even have a fiberglass shop and paint booth. This place is fully stocked with Outboards, general boat gear and everything you could possibly need. It's extremely clean and well organized. Like anywhere else that's top notch, you might pay just a little more but it's definitely worth it. Worth it enough that I was inclined to write this review over a boat trailer. If you want a quality product with quality service to back it up, these guys are definitely who you want to go to. Also, they also included a complimentary torque wrench to keep the wheels properly torqued. They'll show you how to use it if you don't know how.

Only wish some tenants here would be more respectful in their use of the bathrooms. Sorry, Mommy isn't around to clean up after your mess. - Maintenance workers have had some turnover in 2022 but do a good job. Seems to be less maintenance post 2022. - Generally good looking boats, but some boats are ignored and here to die. Most boats never leave the Marina and by the looks of things, many of those couldn't do so under their own power. - Facilities are nice but getting dated. Building maintenance has suffered since 2020 and while nice(r) than average, could be better. Peeling paint and nasty odors in the main building bathrooms. - Gym room was redone in 2023 and is a first class result. I visited several boat yards in the Ventura area, there are four of them. Over the past 40 years, I've contracted boat work in each of the four yards. So this season, I made it a point to revisit them before I decided on which yard I favored. Once I entered the Channel Islands Boat Yard, I was convinced - this yard would be my choice. I tried to buy it off Craigslist directly from the seller but he was already locked into a contract with bob @ Seacoast, so I put in a cash offer w/ Bob the next day. Went back and forth on price + agreed on a survey timeframe and then the seller accepted my offer. I scheduled my survey and haul within the due diligence period, but then Bob took an offer from another buyer and attempted to back out of the purchase agreement with me! Then Bob sent me a strange email challenging my character and telling me that there was no way the seller would sell the boat to me, presumably to encourage me to just drop the deal so they could take the other offer and back out of our agreement. I contacted the California association of yacht brokers to discuss my options, and they noted errors in the purchase contract that Bob drafted and explained the legal process if I wanted to move forward with holding Bob and the seller to the accepted purchase and sale agreement. They confirmed that I could pursue my rights under the contract and would likely win in arbitration given the facts. Ultimately I decided that it was too expensive to litigate over a ~$50k boat so I let it go. I've purchased 3 boats in the past and have worked as a professional captain for a number of years in the US, Caribbean and Med. I have never run into such a strange situation, nor had the CA yacht brokers association. I can only assume that Bob was trying to maximize his commission on the listing rather than to try to build a relationship with a buyer that will probably purchase a number of boats in the future.

I had reservations through the process, but Rick is a stand up and honest guy. One of those real people you don't meet very often. Maybe a little rough around the edges but he will work diligently to help you find a way to resolve problems that arise. I mean if you ever owned and RV you know, if you are just getting into the game he can help. He has experience and knowledge and is willing to work through problems. It took some time, but he earned my trust and confidence. I'd go to Rick and Tri County RV anytime. It's great to have an owner operated business this dependable in Ventura and provides great value for the community. Longer Version: Rick and I had a bumpy road. Dealing with insurance, manufacturers, custom parts and a comic cascade of communication which went best in person, second best via direct email and off the rails a little with phone or disparate emails with third parties. However, Rick hung in there and while I sometimes may appear unreasonable, I'm not. I'm often just too curious for my own good. Yet in this situation because of Rick's tenacity and desire for customer satisfaction we got there.
