Channel Islands Harbour is a beautiful marina located about 8 miles off of the 101 freeway. It is very clean, safe, and lined with a bunch of fabulous restaurants. There are also a wide variety of water sportd including boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skis, etc. Once out on the water uou will be surrounded by gorgeous virws of the harbour and some incredible wild life. Great place to walk. Has a many restaurants, coffee shop and a museum. Probably third favorite place to walk in Oxnard. Could use some remodeling in sone areas for sure. The area were Honey Cup and Waterside are is well kept. I love the Farmers Market here on Sundays. Often walk over from my bf's place which is about a 40 minute walk. We don't mind it. So has much potential! Def need more night life options :) read more

While we've been in various parts of the harbor over the years, yesterday's adventures in trying to avoid triple digit heat inland took us to West County. We'd been at Ventura Harbor for a late lunch, then went downtown to visit the Museum of Ventura County. It was actually still quite warm by late afternoon on Main Street, so we went looking for a seaside vista and the coolness of the water. Marina Park was packed! There was nary a parking place, and we weren't up for walking blocks to be amongst a thousand people. I ended up driving out to the southwest end of C.I. Harbor, finding a parking place and a quiet bench on Harbor Blvd. Perfect! We sat and watched the passing flow of watercraft. Sailboats, motorboats, paddleboards, jet skis, paddleboats, and kayaks all cruised by either going out to sea, or returning. Some just went around the large harbor area itself. A young boy and his father showed up to fish off the rocks near us. Across the channel, families with kids screeching in glee were enjoying the Kiddie Beach Park / Hobie Beach areas. Oh how those high-pitched voices carry across water! All in all, with temperatures nearing 90, it was good to be at the shore. read more

Great place to walk around and walk your dogs. Lots of open space. Our dogs love walking around here! Beautiful place to get fresh air. If you're lucky you'll also get to see and hear some of the sea lions that are chilling by the boats in the harbor. There are also several restaurants in the area where you can get some food. We haven't tried any yet but looking forward to checking them out one day. Besides the sea lions, we've also seen cranes, rabbits, squirrels, and other birds. There's a farmer's market in the parking lot on Sundays. And there's a lot of free parking. read more

We don't own a boat but we love to come down here to walk along the harbor and enjoy the perfect weather. There is long paved path that follows the water and plenty of benches if you'd like to stop and sit. You'll most likely catch local wildlife enjoying themselves as well. There is also a park area where you can grill and picnic with nearby public restrooms. read more

What a nice place to launch a private boat. We grew up here fishing the CISCO's party boats, running charters, and back before it was unlawful, kayak hooping the inside for lobster and crab. My brother recently purchased a 21' Parker, and we put in at the new(ish) launch ramp. Clean restrooms, well-lit parking, six launch ramps aside three docks, and a nice wash-down facility compliment these new facilities. $12 parking for the day is reasonable. Like all launch ramps, your best bet is to time high tide to put in or more importantly to haul out. Last trip, there were two boats having winch trouble, with guys sitting there scratching their heads about how to get their boats home. Maintenance, people. Once underway, a 10 minute idle gets you to the mouth of the harbor, with great fishing spots and the world famous Channel Islands just offshore. Inside the harbor, there are a few nice boat-up restaurants for smaller craft, fuel facilities if you need them, and a bait operation in season. Fair seas and good breeze, friends. read more

This little spot is truly a hidden gem! Although known by most, it appears to be somewhat hidden & under-appreciated. Both previous reviews stand true, the one further detailed pretty much outlines it. I can't wait to come back to whale watch or for the parade of lights, probably makes Newport or Long Beach look mediocre. Another little paradise worth checking out and scenic views of awe, must have camera (and lots of battery life, I regret not buying one since my cellphone camera's on overload) :( Walked a little over 3 miles & could have kept going, if it wasn't for being hungry. People are friendly, beach is extremely clean and well kept. Boat patrol was out & keeping watchful eye on things. People fishing, boating, sailing, doing all kinds of activities I can't remember or name. I/we also walked on huge rocks alongside the marina, pick a spot and sit to enjoy. There are signs where it restricts you from going any further. Parking is good, although I can see it getting packed in the summertime. I'm almost certain Huell Howser has visited while doing his show (rip Huell, we loved you), but not sure. If not, he probably would have, its truly one of the beautiful spots in Ventura county and California. read more

Beautiful harbor to walk around and enjoy the views. Area is dog friendly, and there are stations for trash and plastic bags. Restaurants that line the harbor are wonderful, you can grab a pizza or settle for sushi. The views are absolutely spectacular. It is a lot of fun to walk around and see some of the yachts and sailboats. If you go in the early evening there won't be many people and it will be quiet! read more

Good place to enjoy the water in Oxnard! The actual marina is located on the west side of the Channel Islands Blvd. Bridge, southern end of the Channel Islands Harbor, off Harbor Blvd. Many of Oxnard's special events are held here... "4th of July, Fireworks by the Sea," "Celebration of Whales Festival," "Christmas Santa to the Sea Marathon & the Annual Parade of Lights" to name a few. Its Farmer & Fisherman's Market on Sundays, 10am - 2pm, is one of the favorites of Ventura County (VC Reporter). Market is also held in the same area as the marina, but a little more north by the Marine Emporium Landing. "Wet Wednesdays," is held every 3rd Wednesday of the month, when gourmet food trucks tease our palates with their culinary delights. The harbor has choices for water craft rentals @ Goin' Places Rentals, Hopper Boat Rentals, or the Channel Islands Kayak Center. Of course, you can always bring your own! Whale watching choices include Channel Islands Whale Watching & Island Packers. Whale watching season is from December to April. It's an up & coming harbor. Nothing extravagant like Long Beach or San Diego. The city of Oxnard is taking steps to revitalize the area, so things are improving. With free parking, nice surrounding beaches, & good food options (My fave fish & chips spot is here... Fisherman's House!), it makes for a fun & relaxing spot to consider when in Oxnard! read more

The Channel Islands Harbor is absolutely stunning!!! The water is constantly glistening from every angle! There are so many beautiful birds sweeping and swooping from every angle! We saw blue herrings and great white egrets! We event saw black crowned night herrings! The boats docked at the harbor are also gorgeous to look at! There were so many people stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and rowing boats! There are also so many restaurants along the harbor to eat at and a few different stores to look inside of. One of the Best Harbors for small boating and paddling. From late spring to early summer, the ocean air is the freshest. Local people are friendly and willing to assist. Lots of low speed water sports to do considering the size. Good amount of wild life:pelicans, sea birds, seals, lobster. No sharks and whales unfortunately. Sea channel is wide enough for mix traffic: Tour boats,Steam boats, and small craft. -One of My Favorite Spots in late spring. read more

Probably one of the cleanest harbors in California. It really is a gem! There's plenty to do from jet skis to electric boat rentals. Kayak and stand-up paddle boards. Hollywood Beach to straight over the road, one minute walk away. There are plenty of sea lions in the harbor and dolphins at the entrance to the harbor. Daily fishing trips and whale watching trips out to the Channel islands are really popular. Nice Restaurants and wine bars, you can't go wrong! Every Sunday there is a nice farmers market and the food trucks come down, on the middle wednesday of the month. read more

I stayed in my motor home in a overnight parking lot with no hookups. The harbor patrol is rude and they act as if they are doing you a favor by being there. Please be aware of the parking signs because they are deceptive. They wait to ticket you. Further, if you like to hear military bugles, then this is the place for you. At 50 dollars per overnight without hookups is at best a rip off. read more

Absolutely the most idyllic marina! Grab your boat, kayak, water taxi, a friend's yacht, water raft, fishing boat...anything imaginable to meander/float/padde/boat down the channels. Lot's of fishing boats go out as well. I have heard tall stories about the fishing here. t's so much fun....especially over the 4th weekend. It is just one big party weekend. ALL of Oxnard is in party mode. I was gifted the use of my friend's apt which sits right on one of the channel's edge for the 4th weekend and it was a memorable long weekend. It was a fun experience to wake up and see what floats by right outside your porch. Rent an apt or condo and try to have it be on the water. That's what the Marina is all about. read more

The cleanest harbor I have been to. The staff is the friendliest and very helpful. The bathrooms are spotless I have yet to see a cockroach anywhere. Yet Ventura and Santa Barbara are more expensive and unclean read more

Great place to spend the day. Lots of good restaurants and a couple of interesting museums as well. You can also walk across Harbor Blvd to the beach. Tours to nearby Channel Islands National Park are easily booked here. Bike rentals are available and there is an excellent bike path that goes from the harbor up to Mandalay Beach. Horrible place to enjoy a relatively quiet evening with friends due to the noise from the Whale's Tail music blasting out from all their open doors spewing onto the marina. Boat owners are nauseated, guests leave, the noise is loud and obnoxious. read more
