Dr Heo has been my primary Physian for over five years. She is a wonderful doctor who truly…read morelistens to her patients concerns. She is very thoughtful and kind. I'm a Registered nurse and highly recommend this doctor. She was also very caring and understanding when my mom passed away and helped me through the grieving process.

Today, I sent my 20-year-old daughter to Dr. Heo for her annual exam after researching internists…read morewho received excellent reviews. This would be my daughter's first visit with Dr. Heo as a new patient, as we recently moved from Chicago. It was difficult to find a female doctor who receives good reviews and is accepting new patients. I was surprised to learn about the office visit. First, Dr. Heo questioned why my daughter would travel all the way from Lafayette to Brentwood to see her. This sort of question would put anyone on their heels. This disconcerting question, which puts the patient in a defensive posture, is no way a way to begin a doctor-patient relationship or what should be a proactive conversation. It makes the patient feel as if they should not be there. Dr. Heo then essentially phoned in the exam. She did not perform the head-to-toe evaluation typically performed at first-time office visits to establish a baseline. She did not ASK QUESTIONS (How much exercise? How is your diet? How is your home life? etc.etc). Oftentimes, patients are reluctant to "complain" or introduce perhaps what they are fearful would be minor issues. Especially if they are questioned about why they are there in the first place, and especially a young person, with whom one should take extra care to tease out facts. My shy daughter gets headaches (which she was reluctant to disclose - likely migraines - and which the doctor did not ask "any headaches? allergies? etc etc - I am asked these questions by my doctor). She did not find out that my daughter has a sprained ankle. She did not ask what every woman is asked - about the regularity of her menstrual cycles. Does she see an OB/GYN? She did not order lab tests to establish a baseline. She did not test her reflexes, balance, or joint mobility. She did not palpate her abdomen. She did not check for unusual moles. These are all the hallmarks of a first exam. Dr. Heo seemed to have determined that my daughter "looks healthy" and left it at that. Consequently, my daughter did not receive an "annual exam" from Dr. Heo. Dr. Heo concluded the "exam" by telling my daughter she herself does not like going to the doctor (wonderful role modeling) and said "next time" my daughter can just phone in. I don't think so. Dr. Heo already phoned in.

Doctors are not in the office on a daily basis. My doctor is only in on Thursdays. It took 3…read more months to get a Wellness appointment. During the appointment, the doctor sits across the room and most of the 15 minutes is spent with the doctor fooling around with the computer app and was more concerned with getting a POLST form filled out. She ordered lab work based on my meds. I asked for a urine test--she said they are no longer automatically part of the Wellness exam--I requested the test. My lab results had some issues and they were not properly addressed by the doctor. I called the office, wanting to talk to the doctor, but she does not take phone calls so the front desk gave me a phone appointment with the PA. The PA said I must talk to the Dr. who ordered the lab work. So, now, I have to wait another month to talk with the Dr. At least the PA did order the additional lab work. Prior to this experience, there have been issues with meds and referrals. I guess if you have no health issues, this type of care would work for you.

I cannot believe how extremely RUDE the employees at this office were. I spoke with Amanda, the…read moreoffice manager and she was so condescending and horrible. I called to establish care and spoke with Sela who scheduled me an appointment for March 19th. I let her know that my insurance was a JMPN HMO plan and that I was going to call my insurance to have them post date the change of PCP for 3/1/24 since I'm currently under the care of another physician and cannot NOT have a PCP in the interim. She said that I needed to call and do that first before she could schedule me (why she scheduled me already before verifying is beyond me) she then said that the insurance needed to send them a letter with the reference number. I asked to speak with the office manager at that point and she said she would have her call me back. I then received a call from Amanda who was so rude. She said that it's her office policy that they cannot schedule until the PCP is changed on the card, even though Sela said that the insurance can post date it. She said that it's in the best info the office to do it that way. What about what's in the best interest of the patient?!! What horrible patient care. So a patient can't have a PCP while they wait a month if they have HMO insurance if you want to schedule with them. How does that even make sense. And like I said, I'm currently under the care of a physician for a medical condition and cannot be without a PCP for a month. She then said that her doctor would not treat my medical condition and that their office doesn't agree with disability. She says her doctors will only sign for disability for 2 weeks and that's it. Hmm for someone who is not a physician she was quick to diagnose and tell me what treatment I needed. I cannot believe that the doctor would refuse a medical necessity and I cannot believe that they have such a rude office manager. She also says that she's the manager so she makes the office rules and she made that policy. I asked to speak with the doctor and she said that she wouldn't take my call and that I could email. She then said "I actually don't think I even want to give you her email." So unprofessional. She then said "I'm going to hang up now because we won't be able to have you as a patient." Wow, just wow! I dodged a bullet for sure. If an office manager can be this unprofessional and the doctor allows it, that speaks volumes!!!
