The carpets are filthy, there is no play area for the children , the waits are much too long . We were there for 3 hours for an eye exam and dilation. The patients are overbooked the babies are crying the parents are tired, we waited in the adjoining Eye Q waiting room do to the noise. This is not a practice we will return to. Dr Holt is great, staff is okay but the wait time is absolutely absurd. To have children wait 2-4 hours for an appointment is beyond ridiculous. Please don't respond with the need is there because that is obvious. The office is in charge of scheduling. Don't schedule so much and decrease your wait times. My autistic son shouldn't have to wait this long for a basic appointment. Do better and fix the problem that is clearly known! read more

Dr.Holt is amazing bit the wait times are ridiculous. I waited a total of 3 hours and 30mins. That time was mainly just waiting to get seen, once my son was seen by a staff member getting his eyes examined, another staff comes in to verify it over...then when it comes time to see Dr.Holt, another staff verifies the eye exam AGAIN before you even see Dr.Holt. This process is too lengthy n kids get bored and as a parent I don't want to spend my whole day at the doctors office. Wish the times were faster. That is my only complaint. read more

I must admit that my kids are usually good at the doctors office. Today was my twin 6-year olds one year eye exams. The waiting room had a friendly atmosphere, toys, crayons, legos, "eye"-pads to play games. The back office staff were on top of their game; my son didn't want to do ANYTHING. Stephanie and another fantastic woman (who took us back) went above and beyond to get my son's appt done! Seeing Dr. Holt (super nice) made the wait, & hysteria of my kids worth it! Dr. Holt is professional, friendly, and immediately put the health of my children's eyes at the forefront of his focus. This office is appreciated very much by this Mom. First time we were here was in 2017 and had a great experience then, fast forward to 2022 my son was referred back. The staff is very welcoming and has great customer service skills. You have to use a machine to self check in which I witnessed being disinfected frequently by a gentleman working at the front desk. Dr. Holt is very patient, takes his time and explains his findings in details. Some visits require additional testing which can last 2-3 hours so be patient and come prepared bring snacks and water. I'll start with the positive in my experience at Dr Holt's office. He and his staff are super nice and great with kids. I brought my almost 2 year old in at the recommendation of our pediatrician. All the nurses were friendly and obviously know how to keep toddlers happy while doing their exam. Their equipment seems to be great as well, and they gave us snacks. Now onto the overwhelming negative. I waited for THREE HOURS with my toddler, and this seemed to be the norm because all of the other people in the waiting room were there pretty much the whole time I was. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am. I arrived and checked in at 9:15. We weren't taken back to be seen until 10am, which I thought was fine, I get waiting at drs offices. But that was only for a nurse to ask us questions that could have easily been asked over the phone or filled out prior to our visit. Total face time, about 5 minutes, then we're sent back to the waiting room. We wait almost an hour, taken back by another nurse to an exam room around 10:45, and Dr Holt comes in and is great with my son, says we need to dilate his eyes, then leaves and two nurses come in and while holding my screaming toddler down get the drops in his eyes. Okay, fine - total time with the actual doctor/nurses another maybe 7-10 minutes. But then they tell me it takes 30 Minutes for the drops to work - mind you we've been waiting for over an hour and a half at this point. Again, sent back to the waiting room to entertain my now getting fussy toddler because it's close to nap time. We wait almost another hour...around 11:40am they call us back and place us in another exam room and take a picture of my son's dilated eyes and then say the doctor will be in shortly. Well shortly must mean something different to them because I wait with my now very overly tired toddler for another 30 minutes and finally I step out of the room and the doctor is chatting with some nurses at their station. I ask how much longer it will be and they ask me if I'm the mom of a different kid. No, and I give them my son's name. The doctor pulls his chart, which was sitting in a tray right in front of him, and says it'll just be another minute. I go back to the exam room, the doctor comes in within 2 minutes and tells me the results of my son's test and sends us on our way - all in about 5 minutes. How much longer would we have needed to wait if I didn't speak up? So our total face time with the doctor and/or the nurses was about 15-20 minutes. I walked out of their office to go home at 12:15pm - THREE HOURS after initially checking in. Sorry, I don't care how short staffed you are that's just terrible management of your time and super disrespectful to your patients. If you have a short staff then you need to lighten your patient load. I'll be asking our pediatrician to refer us to a different office because I won't have 3 hours to give to a single doctors office when there isn't a major procedure happening. Again, nothing against Dr Holt or his staff personally, but there's no way I'm willing going back to a place that keeps their patients waiting 3 hours and doesn't communicate about wait times at all. read more

We've been coming to Dr Holt for 3 years. My only complaint is that he's not a practicing general pediatrician, I wish he wasn't just an eye dr . We see many different dr's, Dr Holt is the absolute best doctor I've ever had the pleasure of trusting my son with. His office staff are so kind, the wait is usually minimal, and because they specialize in children, they seriously make it a priority that your child is comfortable and calm. The office is fun, iPads to play with, toys, legos, Giant beanbags in the rooms for the kids to have the exams on it they prefer, movies in every room etc. doctor Holt is amazing I just wish he practiced general pediatrics. read more

I have been taking my son here for 3 years now and I've had such a horrible experience most of the time that I am no longer going to bring him here. Last visit the receptionist gave me the wrong appointment, wrong doctor, and wrong information. This visit the doctor was very unprofessional. Not only do you have to wait about an hour or two after your appointment time to get in. It takes another hour or two for the actual appointment with so many different people coming in and not even telling us who they are or why they are in my sons room. Waiting 3 plus hours at an appointment for kids is not fun. Yesterday we didn't want to do one of the tests and we were told very rudely and in an unprofessional manner by Dr. Holt that "well then I'm not giving him glasses and I'm the only doctor in the Central Valley so you will have to go to San Francisco and that's why it's always so busy here and you have to wait because it's just me." Very uncomfortable with refusing one of like ten tests and then just being told that information especially in that manner. He could have explained why he does that certain test and could have said we can keep his prescription he has now until your are comfortable or something like that. More educational and professional response would have been nice and just overall communication. But to say well I'm not gonna give him glasses and pretty much good luck finding someone is a no for me. I called the doctor I go to and sure enough my doctor can see my son so that is where I will go from now on. Overall, long wait times and unprofessional staff all around. Not worth it. read more

Dr. Holt is amazing!! He is very informative and understanding. His staff and nurses are wonderful too!

My daughter went to Dr. Holt several times between the ages of nine months and two years old. Every time we went he told us her vision was more out of focus, but he refused to prescribe corrective lenses because he seemed her too young. She is developmentally delayed, she would have as better time catching up if she could do a little thing like, I don't know, see. Our insurance was paying lot of money for us to be told she has terrible eyesight then have nothing done about it. We finally got in with a new ophthalmologist who was mortified that any doctor, but especially one who specializes in pediatrics, could ever think s child not being able to see, regardless of age, was ok. She also has exotropia, which Dr. Holt diagnosed on her first visit, but refused to treat until it became an obvious problem. Guess what, it's become obvious, and while she has a chance of it being fixed with glasses, that chance would have been better had she gotten them at the beginning. She's now at risk of having to have surgery if it doesn't get fixed by less invasive means. I've dealt with some pretty bad doctors in my day, but Dr. Holt is by far the most worthless pediatric specialist I have ever had the displeasure of taking my child to. He's friendly enough, but absolutely does not do what's best for his patients. read more
