This huge store that has everything for your home remodel: flooring, carpeting and padding, sinks, faucets, hardware, doors and storm doors, vanities, toilets, shower doors, and more. The most valuable things here are the employees. They're great! They're knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. The best one here in my opinion, is Jess. There's nothing I've asked that she didn't know the answer to. She used to own a flooring business, so that's a strong area, but she is very knowledgeable about everything. Jess also pointed out another valuable benefit here: the wall by the exit which has business cards of contractors. Jess also mentioned a few that frequently do business with them. It wasn't, however, an endorsement of the quality of their work necessarily, rather who's a frequent customer/contractor, and seems to be professional and nice. Another reason I love shopping here is their free Project Planning and Design service. This has saved me money, time, frustration and been very informative... and fun. As you enter, the first room has kitchen flooring, sinks, faucets and some hardware (to the left) as well as everything for your bathroom (to the right). The Project Planning and Design Center is in the middle. The larger adjacent room, has doors, countertops, more flooring, carpeting and padding, doormats etc. Everything is neat, well stocked, and labeled. And the employees are never too busy putting out or straightening stock to help a customer. That alone is worth the trip here, since customer service is a dying art. There's free parking in the large, private parking lot, and they will be happy to take things out and load your car. This is on the main drag on Empire Boulevard, conveniently next to Tim Hortons. You can celebrate the savings on your remodel...just saying.

Cameron Windows and Doors

Over the…read moreyears, water on the door sill from the rain apparently wicked up and helped rot the bottom of the door frame. I didn't just need a door replaced - I wanted the frame, sill, and trim rebuilt like new, before the damage got worse. I found Cameron Home Improvement at the Rochester Home Show this year. The sales process was simple. They helped me pick out a door by Milliken which was a steel entry door with a full length window pane but had mini-blinds *inside* the two panes of glass. I was very impressed by the installers - they really knew what they were doing. They put down drop cloths before they started so it didn't make a mess. The door and all the trim is really nice - the work looks sharp, it looks like new construction. This door is really nice. The blinds can be raised and lowed, and even tilted, by a slide on the inside side of the door. The blinds never bang when you open and close the door because they are mounted inside the glass. If you need any work like this, I strongly recommend Cameron.

Yes, but overall a good guy. Complaining because the guy is black and "scared" poor ole' Harry? Give me a break. Thank God we still have lumber yards like Mathew and Fields. The big box stores have put so many of these "little guys" out of business.

Totally worth it On top of the great work, they were very professional and knowledgeable. They explained everything to me in layman's terms so that I knew what they were doing step by step. They also had me check their work during and after. Our basement is so much warmer now and our dehumidifier barely has to run anymore. Absolutely the worst experience possible with this contractor. We signed a contract on May 12th of last year to put in an addition and it didn't get settled until April of this year. The contractor knew we wanted this job done before Labor Day. At the time of signing we put down a third of the payment and the cost of the cabinets so that they could be ordered then. The job was supposed to start in 8-10 weeks and didn't start till week 12. 3 weeks into to the project they tore out our kitchen. Here's were it started to go down hill. We started to get lots of water in the basement ruining many of our belongings. Several texts ,phone calls and 4 weeks later our gutters finally went up and the grading pitch towards the house was fixed. After measuring found that the front window was 3 inches off from drawing. They"upgraded" me to an extra cabinet but not what i wanted. Then in September worked stopped. I'd go down to the shop and try to get answers but Nick was no where to be found. After 3 weeks of no work at the house we hired an attorney. ( Nick stayed here that because they were in contact with me that , that was considered working... it's because his designer Neil had quit and they didn't have any of my information. After the lawyer got involved work started back up again. Now Dave was taking over my project. I at this point which was around the end of September was told my cabinets would be in. They were on the truck. Now we can't find them. I'm going down to get them. They are coming tomorrow. Those were all told to until October 10 when he stated that they would be shipped out on October 18. They finally arrived on November 6. After calling Kohl in Pennsylvania where he purchased them said he didn't put the order in until September 25... which was the time i was getting the run around about them on the truck... I'll get them etc... The kitchen finally gets functional now November 23.. that's 14 weeks without a kitchen. When the whole project was to take 28-32 days. We even gave them a few Saturdays and Sundays to help catch them up. Now December 5th... the first time i hear from nick in almost 2 months he wants his final payment. No can do the inspection fails. They send someone out to fix what needed to be fixed . Then we start having electrical issues. Breakers were tripping shut off the lights in the addition. They worked on it a hand full of times and couldn't find the issue. This went on for weeks. All the time I'm getting messages from Nick asking for the final payment. Each time I'd say it's not right please fix. Then the under cabinet lights started strobing when the dining room lights were turned on. They came over and changed out more breakers, changed out the whips, took the lights down and up several times... each time putting new holes in my brand new cabinets. They were getting so frustrated with me at one point they asked me when was i going to consider the job finished so that they could get paid. Again i stated when the lights work correctly. This went on for three months and nine try's to get it right. Nick had stated at one point that he didn't believe we had an electrical issue that we just didn't have the money to pay him. We then hired a certified electrician to come over and finish up the job . There are many more stories to this i just nailed down the highlights. Our project was a big one. We were planning to finish about 1,300 square feet of our basement, adding a full bath, wet bar, gym area, and opening up a large wall on our main floor that would allow for a smoother flow and access to the new basement/lower level. We did our due-diligence in vetting several reputable contractors and construction companies. After a few meetings with Nick, we opted to use DeRisio Construction for our project. It was easy to tell that Nick knew all that would be involved in completing our project. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to building structures, framing, wood-working, and he was honest with us if we had a request that was just physically not possible. Our vision was a beautiful 2nd floor of living space. Nick and his team gave us just that. Before the job even started, Nick had a detailed plan and schedule for the project. Each day and week of progress was listed out. It was nice to see it so well-organized, and understand what would be completed by the end of each week. Also listed was a budget for certain parts of the project (bathroom, flooring, bar area, etc)--which helped us to keep costs in-line, and there were no surprises when it came to payment. Nick was on-site each morning to say hello and give us any updates on what would be happening that day, alert us of any issues or potential changes to the plan--overall, there were ZERO major changes from the original project plan--that is pretty amazing to say with such a large renovation! DeRisio had a consistent team of 3-4 craftsmen that would be on-site, working hard, cleaning up daily, and keeping any and all dust from entering our main floor area The guys were all extremely friendly and polite--they became a part of the family a few months! Our dog misses them now that the project is done! The quality of work that was done was top-notch. None of the framing, insulation, drywall, electrical, or plumbing was completed taking any short-cuts. We cannot say enough how glad we are that we chose DeRisio Construction, as we now have our dream 1st floor completed! See the pictures for yourself! You can't expect to gain respect if you don't give it. Although you had an emergency at 7am (our scheduled appt was 10am), it doesn't take more than 5 sec to send a quick message to cancel. You had 3 hours to cancel an appt you couldn't make. So it is for the same reason that I prefer not to work with your company. I also value respect and clear communication which did not occur with your tone and lack of accountability in how you handled the matter. Hopefully this feedback will help future prospective clients. I worked with Ryan, owner of this startup company. Ryan and his crew were professional and meticulous in their work. Prior to even starting the project, Ryan and crew came to my house several times, at my request, to gain the best perspective of what I wanted with the incorporation of new cabinets with my existing cabinets. The team was very flexible in working with my schedule to accommodate the best time to work the project (which included Saturday options). Ryan was very attentive in replying to my text or calls on project updates. The team worked the project diligently with skilled expertise and craftsmanship and took care to seal off the work area from dust and debris to other parts of my home and cleaned the area promptly when done. The materials used were of good quality and the project price was reasonable. Ryan researched best option to get the closest match between new cabinet hinges with existing cabinet hinges. Ryan was also helpful in referring me to contractors to help with other aspects of my kitchen re-do, which I appreciate. All in all a great job a 4.5 out of 5 star rating Vince

The work that was done on our bathroom and laundry room was done very poorly and far beyond the timeline we had discussed (by months and months)! Our shower water ran the OTHER direction when it was complete (AWAY from the drain and underneath the tiles was drenched! We had to fix this ourselves!), the quality of craftsmanship was incredibly poor (drywall seams left unfinished or poorly coated), and now less than a year later our floor tiles are popping. The work was done with little attention to detail, poor planning (ex. they FORGOT a plug for the dryer), and did not finish many things before they left. I had paid them in full (rookie mistake - I know this now!) because he claimed he "had no money to pay his workers". I assumed and trusted he grew up with the same moral standing that I had, however, I was sadly mistaken. He got very rude and belligerent as I addressed my concerns with him (which was incredibly unacceptable and stressful - especially in my first trimester of pregnancy). I even wrote him after he left, hoping he would own up to his mistakes and remedy them. However, all I received back was a letter stating that he would take me to court if we said anything negative about the business on social media.
