I'm one of the victims of the hail storm in July 2024. I hired Kaptein contracting to do my roof and my siding. I could not be more happy with the professionalism and the quality of work along with the price which couple together was such an easy project. They came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. We bought a house and were lied to about the age of the roof. Turned out our "newer 30 year" roof would be lucky to make it through one more winter. John and his crew came in and tore out three layers of shingles and a heap of rotten wood, put in a perfect roof, a ridge vent, new vents and even took down the old Dish dish in about a day for a very fair price then cleaned up impeccably. 7/2023 Hired Kaptein Contracting (John Kaptein) to install Flashing around the chimney and replace rotted boards. Crew applied excessive sealant to the grind line of the flashing. Was told sealant would cure in 14 days. 21 days later, JK returned and removed some excess sealant- still tacky not cured. 29 days later, water leaked into the chimney and through some rotted boards not replaced. Hired a professional Mason to access the chimney: -Cracked bricks at the grind line of flashing -Brick joints were filled with excessive gobs of sealant - Brick joints need to be filled with Mortar, not sealant -Flashing cut short on 2 of 4 corners -Nails should not be placed in cap shingles and some shingles glued together Talked with JK in person. JK denied incurred damages. Asked for monetary compensation. JK refused, became aggressive/angry Paid $$$ for substandard work. Professional Mason repaired the incurred damages, I paid $$. JK does not stand behind his website advertisement. "Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction" "utmost professionalism and attention to detail." Workmanship seems decent with neighbor's roof replacement. However, a bit disappointed with how Kaptein handled quoting a potential roof replacement. Was initially quoted a price by supposedly one of his employees, only for it to be doubled by John himself. Turned out the employee was a contractor, hence the price difference. read more

John replaced our roof (GAF system with ridge vents and soffit vents, and new gutters on Aug. 16, 2021. We had interviewed serval roofer (all have 5-4.7 star ratings). We took a leap of faith (competed with big name company) to finally asked him to do the job for us, not only he is the most knowledgeable and honest person, but also offered the best price. He did not disappoint us. He came at the time he promised and did wonderfully  job and clean all the debries.  Twenty years ago we asked his father to replace our roof, which yield great result. This is another reason we decided to hire him. He continued his father's legacy. We strongly recommend him.  We also listened to his recommendation to ask Nick's Insulation and Ventilation to do our attic insulation, today (9/14/2021). Again we are so very pleased by Nick's team (lead by Robert). Strongly recommend both of them. read more

We had a tear-off roof replaced and skylights installed this past week. John and his crew were professional, hardworking, polite, and considerate of property. They cleaned up every day, leaving the property looking neat and pristine. John's estimate was very reasonable and required no deposit prior to completion. Some unanticipated challenges cropped up that required more materials and time than expected and he could have made the argument to adjust the quote, but he did not. We paid only what we were originally quoted. I would definitely recommend this company and would certainly call on them again for future projects. read more

We had our old roof torn off and a new one installed by Kaptein. Phil and his crew did an outstanding job. They were professional and polite. They worked hard and did a great job cleaning up each day when they left. We enjoyed having them here each day. Our new roof looks great and the price was very reasonable too.
