It was nice path trial, some shaded area and some are not. There is good size bathroom. There were picnic tables. You can walk on the beach. There is farmer market on Saturday. Parking can be a challenged. The reason why the trial is 3 stars is because the noise level from the planes. It is too loud and disturbing the walk for me. read more

A nice, straight, paved trail thats 2 miles one way. Not bad! I walked this trail with my dogs and niece with two strollers. There's a large parking lot with a small fee but I came on a Saturday and it was free and on Saturdays there's a farmers market at the marina from 10am - 2pm with tons of goodies and food trucks. To the right of the marina is a grassy area with a few picnic tables perfect for overlooking the water. Which by the way, when I got there there were tons of people digging around in the sand, I walked around for about 3 hours and when I came back the water was right up to just before the grass, it comes up fast! Right by the grass there is even an area that looks like it could be rented out for events and there is a bathroom! Nicely maintained, super clean and very convenient. There as something going on when I was there and it looked super picturesque and private, a great spot for a gathering. The public bathrooms are separate from the event spot but in the same area. I walked pretty slowly and let my niece practice walking around so it took us longer. Theres a small creek and the path drops off on the side so it wasn't the best path to let her run around; we had to chase her and not let her go so far so she wouldn't fall off the side, very important. As for the dogs, they had a great time, got in the water when they were able to, and there was enough room for everyone. read more

This is an awesome trail. I took my son one day to get him outside before the warm weather disappeared, and I'm so glad we checked it out. For little ones (who just want to walk and aren't to the jungle gym phase yet) this place is perfect. So much open space and nice grass for my son to just RUN! Another bonus - my son lovessss ducks and there was a little pond with about (LITERALLY) 30 of them being fed by onlookers. He loved watching them! There's also access to the beach here which is cool on a sunny day. We walked down to the water for a little bit until my son decided he wanted to try and run through all the slimey beach grime. Nooo, sir. There's indoor bathrooms here and plenty of well-maintained garbage cans throughout the trail and park. Heads up: if you park in the lot meant for the beach and trail, it'll run you about $2. I forget if the machines accepted cash, but definitely card. Awesome place to kill some time. I'm sure it's gorgeous right now with a bunch of fall colors! read more

It was pretty cold, not the best day for a walk but its a great trail. Nice and straight, paved and easy walking. Apparently in the winter there is no fee because the bar was up. Small parking area when you first drive in and then since no one was using the event center you could park down where the trail starts. Very cool stuff on the walls under the bridge. Some salmon, ferns made to look like they were part of the rock. Would be super for kids to see. In the summer you could take in the Farmer's Market practically next door. read more

This trail is about 2 miles long and paved with pretty minimal elevation gains and well maintained pavement. I like to start at the Beach Park side and work my way up. There's a section of the trail where you're directly under a flight path (and, oh boy, will you notice!) but other than that the trail is surprisingly quiet considering on where it's located. Not exactly a great place to view wildlife, but there are definitely some little birds and whatnot here and there. Trail is not lit, so you're definitely going to want to make sure that you have the time that you need to finish the trail before sundown - forested areas always get so dark, so fast! Access points at either end of the trail - either at the Des Moines Beach park or at the small lot on S 200th st. read more

Des Moines Creek Trail is a 2 mile paved road perfect for walkers, bikers, and roller skaters. It's pretty flat throughout the trail with minimal elevation. The trail is very quiet with plenty of greenery and landscape with little to no distractions other than the occasional airplane flying overhead. There are no bathrooms along the trails nor were there any lights so I wouldn't suggest embarking on the trail at night. Walking the entire two miles and back certainly was peaceful and I was in tune with Mother Nature and all her splendors of the forest. There were small birds that chirped here and there, a salamander that tried to cross the road, and a bee nest high up in the trees. You'll also be able to hear the cheerful babble of water streaming down the creek. Des Moines Creek Trail is the perfect combination of urban topography meets rural lowland forest of the Puget Sound. read more

Perfect temperature and sunshine with a beach ending to a great paved trail bike ride, very peaceful!

Nice paved trail with a small parking lot on 200 St and 20ish Ave. Lots of shade. We saw quite a few people biking and walking. There is also a small narrow (not paved) trail on the West side of the parking lot. We went for about half a mile and did not find anyone else in that trail. We had just a few hours before our flight and we enjoyed our walk here. read more

Was on a business trip and decided to go for a run along a trail somewhere near my hotel and found this location online. What a great little trail down to the beach. Parked the car ran down about 2.5 miles to the pier and back. Wasn't ideal that almost the entire back track was up hill but the surrounding nature and creek was nice. Might make for a better walk than run :). Enjoy! read more

If you follow this trail from the Des Moines marina there is a creek that runs along the first half. Large park with shelters and benches, even a rental park house for private events. Has two port-a-potties available. (So pee now, or forever hold your p*ss.) The trail leads to a small parking lot after about 2 1/2 miles. About half way there is a very stinky (sewage?) plant... Motivates you to run faster if you're a runner. I've seen tons of different bird species here. Wood peckers, humming birds and more common birds, of course. It's mostly shaded by a canopy of trees, I like to stroll here on hot days. Smooth well kept trail. Plenty of parking in various lots. read more

A beautiful trail! Quiet, hardly any people, and good weather. We only walked to the .5 mile marker and since the trail doesn't loop back to the park, we turned around. Otherwise it's about 2 miles long so it ends up being a 4 mile walk/run total. Lots of trees and a creek (hence the name). Plenty of parking and picnic tables for a day trip. read more

The Des Moines Creek Trail is a paved trail and it's a little over 2 miles one way. There are quarter mile markers throughout the trail. I usually start near the Des Moines Beach Park side and the paved area ends on 200th Street, where there's a small parking area. There's a bit of an uphill slant if you start from the Beach Park side but not one where it'll kill you to walk. There is a creek that runs along the right side for about half of the trail and varying small dirt paths that lead you by the creek side. It's a beautiful trail until you get to mile 1. That's when you get a wonderful view of a sewage plant. I didn't mind it as it gave me something else to look at. Other reviews complained about the stench but I never smelled anything during any of the times I've been on the trail. Also, you will hear the constant roar of planes overhead when nearing the other side of the trail as you get close to the SeaTac airport. Be forewarned, there are no restrooms available at all on this trail! I advise going before you start the trail. There are varying restrooms along the marina that are open to the public. I find this to be the perfect place to walk, run, bike, etc. after work then you can head over to the beach park or marina to watch the sunset. You can grab dinner if you're hungry at Anthony's Homeport, which is at the other end of the marina and there's also a delicious Taco food truck at the parking lot. Parking is plentiful however good luck on some days as the Pokemon Go players are rampant!! (That may be an understatement.) read more

It's not a very long trail (2 miles each way) but great for beginner runners, walkers & even kids that are just learning how to ride a bike. Not very crowded either, which is nice. I often see cyclist on the trail going too fast. Cyclists, please slow down... it's not the street! There's pedestrians using this trail too. You'll past the sewage plant but it doesn't smell too funky. Both ends of the trail have plenty of parking. The upper end is in Sea-Tac/North Des Moines and the other end has plenty of parking and is also next to the Marina. read more

This has been my stroll the last two weekends. Parked both times at the south lot. The first time I strolled this the walking program on my phone registered 4.17 miles from top to bottom. Today I did that, but continued to the marina a pier. 5.2 miles. Slight but not weary uphill grade. Thankful for the downhill grade coming back. When it's drier out I've stomped around the woods/trails on the top side. read more

I love this trail since it's close by work, so I can go on a run or walk right after -- because it's such an effort to leave the house once I'm there! It's rarely crowded even on really sunny days, and the path is shady so it's great when it's too hot to be at Seward or other exposed trails. I usually start at the trailhead on 200th and end up at the Marina, which is great. Slightly downhill and there's a beautiful, relaxing view at the end. I usually don't stop along the trail but I know a lot of people enjoy taking a break and playing by the water specially if they have dogs or kids. Right now there are a bunch of bunnies all over the trail, too, which is always a nice thing to see. The trail is 2 miles and has markers every quarter mile. You can branch off as well and cross the bridge that eventually leads you out to 216th. It is paved the entire way although you may get some water/mud across the path at some points if it's been raining. read more

The Des Moines Creek trail is about 2.5-mile, gravel bicycle and pedestrian trail connects three park systems - the 70-acre Des Moines Creek Park, the 22.5-acre Des Moines Beach Park Historic District and Tidelands, and the 14-acre Des Moines Marina. Old growth forests (one tree was so water logged last winter that 1 minute earlier it would have fallen on top of us) and areas with salmon spawning grounds and a fish ladder (they are building this section up), it has two historic landmarks and a mountain bike facility, before ending at the Marina waterfront. This trail connects Des Moines neighborhoods, recreation facilities and schools, SeaTac, SeaTac Airport, and I think the King County Regional Trail System to the Puget Sound in downtown Des Moines. Summer, Spring, Fall or Winter, love to kill time walking this very nice trail system. read more

Love that this place is on the south end. Although the trail is only 2 miles, you can deviate from the concrete path into one of the dirt trails to create a longer, more scenic route. read more
