Des Moines Beach Park is a nice park for a stroll. When the tide is out, there's countless ocean life you can discover if you look closely! Walking on the tide can be a little tricky, so be careful. There's also a very long dock for ocean fishing. You can get really out into the water and it can be pretty deep. There's not much to do besides walking along the coast and around the water for nice views.

How could you not love this place? Ever crave the fresh ocean breeze on your lunch break? A quick local walk. This is the place to go! Located in the heart of Des Moines. It offers nice walking trails, and great views. There are plenty of picnic tables as well as abundant amount of parking. There is usually atleast 1 food truck as well Anthonys Homeport for a bite to eat!

Once again, Yelp comes in handy for finding places to visit. We had a few hours to spend before our next stop so I looked for nearby parks and found this place. I think the name is what attracted me most. It's a marina and it's by the ocean and it's really nice. I found some shells and beautiful rocks. We walked along the boardwalk and took some time to watch the birds and ducks hanging out in the water. Not too many people here which is a plus. A great place to come relax and enjoy nature. Free parking too!

    Low tide.

Love this beach. On clear days you can enjoy the view of the mountains. There's benches and a few trails here as well.

    Low tides :)

I wanted to enjoy my lunch near the water and this park showed up :) it's so quiet and not too busy, but I'm not sure because it's a weekday. It was low tide and I walked out carefully onto the rocks. There are many places to sit and chill out. I wanted to walk the 2 mile trail but I didn't want to go alone, don't like to take chances . Definitely will come back!

The tide is low so I could walk around the beach this wonderful morning.

Great place to bring the kids and teach them about nature. Very peaceful and serene not a lot of people which is good. Awesome place to watch the tide or even go for a run on the trail. If you're not from around here then it's fun to just walk around and read the history from the area and location.

Just a great place...rocky beach, tide pools, (if your from north Dakota that happens when the tide goes "out"... google it) walking path, pier, amazing views to west towards Vasshon island and Olympic peninsula

Such a nice relaxing place with plenty of free parking and historic charm. This is the "birthplace of Des Moines" according to one of the signs near the beach trail. Great view of the sound and huge grassy area to play or sit on the benches and have lunch at the tables. There is also a great trail attached to the park that goes along the river. So pretty.

Great nature trail walk before you get to the pier.

Small park with parking. This place is great for picnics, sunbathing or whatever you want to do. You can go beach combing, wind surfing or just hang out. Bring the kids and your dogs.

Love Des Moines Pierre and the hiking paved trail. Lovely cool down place in the evening. Visit the food truck as well if your wanting some tacos. I also enjoy the older gent who sells birdhouse, seashell chimes and seaglass by the jar.

Made by a fine young man, enjoying the beach with his family, thank you!

We arrived at 1:00 PM and found the last parking space available at the end of the furthest parking lot area. Took our time taking a stroll to the event, where the food vendors were on the grassy area. Saw some Laotian food - Hmong Sausage with Sticky Rice, Chicken Wings, Whole Chicken, Papaya Salad, Fried Banana, also saw that they had Thai Iced Tea, Thai Iced Coffee, Lemonade flavors, Sandwiches, and Grilled Pork. We walked to the other side where they had a stage where they were having some dancing, live music and speeches. In addition, there were accessories, and clothing/apparel vendors who were lined up on the other side. First part of the Review is for the Cambodian event, which was a 4 out of 5. ------ The Park itself was easy to navigate around. Parking seemed self-explanatory, even though it was fully packed. There were clear signs of what was required of the State Park. You had to enter with a Discovery Pass or a National Park Pass at the Gate/Entrance. Walked around the beach area until the end of the trail where they had Private Property. Took some pictures and scenic videos of the water and scintillating viewpoints. It was a pretty short stroll after eating our lunch. But overall an enjoyable experience. Would like to visit again even without an event going on... Review of the Park - 4 out of 5.

We were excited to go but it was supposed to be a very hot day that day. Parking was relatively easy, there was parallel parking in the residential neighborhood nearby, as well as angled parking spots in of the field house itself. The festival was west of the field house in a very large, well, field. It did look a little dry, but it held the festival easily and with room to spare. The entire field was edged with chain link fences, which added to the feeling of security. There's not much else to say in writing a review of a literal grass field But I do wish that there were restrooms nearby.

As we got closer the map had all water, hehe. What a nice spontaneous surprise, we decided to do take the Fauntleroy Ferry to Vashon Island. ( will do a review the Ferry after). Who doesn't love the Ferry?! After we got to Vashon Island, it was about a 20 min scenic drive to Point Robinson Park, So happy we are here! Keep in mind the park gates closes at dawn, I was worried about being stuck there and we arrive close to dawn. Plenty parking, very nice park with lighthouse, beach, trails and picnic area. First things first, lets look for the troll, which his name is Oscar the bird king, made by Thomas Dambo. Thomas Dambo is an artist based in Denmark, Thomas makes sculptures out of recycled materials. This sculpture is part of series of six site specific installations called Northwest trolls. I need to find the other 4 during my future visits to PNW. Wow, super cool to see and visit Oscar the troll in real life, a little scary but so interesting. Thomas is super creative and got skills. Oscar is huge in real life, hehe. We took our photos, observed the artistic skills, greeted him with Shaka, then after that we went to explore the rest of Robinson Park. Trail, beach and we finally got to the lighthouse, another reason to visit. There's a lighthouse tour during mid May-September, which I would love to learn more about. All in all, What a great day to make it a great day here, trolling Point Robinson Park, LOVED every moment!
