First time here, and I know I'll be here many times over. There's nothing like being near the water. The view doesn't disappoint. Totally worth the payoff of hiking down (and back up). The trail (non-paved) to the beach is moderately steep. Loose gravel in some points so be careful. It's pretty narrow too. The paved walkway backup is also steep and will get the cardio going. Along the trail are many picnic tables to sit, eat a snack, take some pics, and catch your breath. Only downside is parking is limited. Go early if you can. Overall highly recommend. read more

Marine View Park is a small but gorgeous park that allows for some brief (although steep!) hiking/walking to the shore which has a small rocky beach. The main trail is very well kept and there are a few side trails as well to make your hike longer if desired. The views along the way are gorgeous! The only thing is that the parking lot is quite limited. read more

It's all downhill. And then once you get to the beach at the bottom, it's all uphill on the way back! The main trail is wide and paved, and you could probably bike down easily. Going up, you might need an electric assist, unless you're REALLY in shape, AND have a good gear ratio on a mountain type bike. The main trail is a beautiful walk. Feels like you are in the middle of the forest. As you walk, you will see some smaller side trails leading...? somewhere. Next time I will go explore some of these. So, it's great to be outside in the fresh air, and get some good exercise on the steep climb. So get get! Get Going! The forest isn't going to come to you! Cheers! read more

Beautiful little park. Nice hiking trails. This is a hidden gem. Enjoyed every time I was there.

I almost don't want to write this review so I can keep this park to myself! I'm new to the area and scoping out places go on nice days with my dog. Marine View Park is aptly named and beautiful, but don't expect the sweeping views of the sound and Mt. Rainier without some work. The walk down to the beach is about half a mile, and you can choose to take the cemented path or adventure down by trail. According to some signage, there's a loop trail you can take, but we stayed left on the main path since it was our first time there. We ran into a few groups of folks, most with dogs, which affirmed to me this place is dog friendly. There are two places with garbage cans - at the top of the trail and just before the stairs to the beach - so it's quite easy to pack in and out, and convenient when picking up after your pooch! When you get about halfway down, you start to see why it's called Marine View. The walk is very steep but definitely doable. A friendly fellow let me know there are several spots with eagles along the beach and to keep an eye on smaller dogs. So, it's not a great place to let smaller dogs off leash. We took a nice stroll and the sweaty hike back up to the car was well worth it. When the tide is out, signage showed that sea creatures are visible, and it's even possible to see whale here. Small but nice park to go to, especially when it's hot. Lots of shade with a steep trail leading down to the beach. It's only about a mile, but it's quick and easy to get to and it has some lovely views. read more

It's a hike backup but worth it! We arrived to airport early for a flight, caught an Uber and were not disappointed.

Great park and trail, with moderate parking and it even had a porta-potty. Our GPS took us to a residential area but we kept going forward a few more meters and we got the park entrance. I believe this is a loop to the beach, the path to the left (labeled beach trail) it is more steep. If you go on the right side, you will find a flat grassy area. If you keep going it is a little longer but less steep. There are a few benches and tables on the way if you need to stop and take a break often. Be very cautious as some parts of the trail are right next to a cliff. We had only a few hours before our flight and we enjoyed our hike here very much. Have fun! Absolutely beautiful! Great hike down to the water, very clean, park goers are all courteous of one another. I love bringing my kids here to beachcomb or just walk down with my dogs tomorrow enjoy the view and clear my mind. Not like other trails that are overrun with litter and paraphernalia. Love the peace and tranquility here! read more

We had time to kill before our flight so decided to hang for a bit at this park. We walked down to the beach and it was really beautiful. Sea otters were handing out In the water. It was just sunny and beautiful. We parked our selves on a log under a tree and enjoyed the peace and beauty. The walk back the path was a bit steep but well covered by the trees. read more

I'm not super athletic and the trails were steep, but I made it all the way down and back up without any issues and with a few pauses to enjoy the scenery and rest. This was just a gorgeous walk. My hometown doesn't see much change in the fall and this was just perfect! This was only a short, cheap Uber ride from my hotel and it was well worth it! I loved the view of the Sound! read more

Scene: Two friends who were drinking and dancing until early morning are recovering by laying in bed sharing with each other ridiculous YouTube videos while the sun shines mercilessly through the window. Late 20's female with a penchant for adventure looks at a map and decides she wants to explore a beach park; proposes idea to friend with whom she stayed the night. Late 30's male seems reluctant as he is still hungover and groggy {Jack in the Box failed}. He concedes because resistance against sad kitty eyes is futile. They stop at a fuel/grocery dispensary for bottles of hydration and carry on toward their destination. They pass it and are guided back by the female satellite voice. Beverages in hand they march into a wooded area and soon discover the descent is steep. Traipsing over thicket and wood they reach a bench that overlooks water and a nearby island ~ she thinks of how it would be sweet to sit there with someone special. They've reached stairs at this point and continue onto the beach tower where a reverent pause is essential ~ the glorious mountain ever present and majestic is a glorious sight to behold. Down the steps and to the water they go! Being a wonderfully warm mid-May day they walk along the waters edge only stopping to skip & kerplunk rocks, act silly, sit on large pieces of driftwood to watch the ongoings of Lizardtopia & soak up the sun in silence. read more

Just moved to the area this week. Stopped by almost on accident and walked down to the beach. Truly a steep path - worse coming back because it's all uphill! - but a really nice park. Beautifully maintained trail. Amazing views of the Sound, Vashon Island (I think), Mt. Ranier, and Des Moines marina. Met couples, families, and pets - but not at all crowded on a Sunday morning. Will absolutely return! read more
