We visited for a wine tasting on Saturday afternoon during Texas Wine Month (October) as part of the North Texas Fall Wine Trail. It is a beautiful area tucked into the woods. Indoor and outdoor seating (covered and uncovered), plus a fire pit and a stage for live music. The wine samples were generous and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. Decided to do a small road trip to Gainesville area and stop by some of the wineries. We stopped by Deschain and so glad we did. This is an amazing off the road unique winery that has amazing wine and food to pair! I can't say enough about the staff (ask for Marsha) and owners. My wife and I recently spent the evening here. We found the atmosphere quaint and romantic as it is set back off the road and surrounded by woods. The owners and staff were engaging and knowledgeable, so we felt as if we were being welcomed home to family evening. We shared a meat and cheese board and enjoyed the variety of wines by the glass and by the flight. Everything from the food items to the wine has a story of how and why they are in front of you. I won't get into reviewing every specific wine, but just know this - you will find at least one to enjoy, as we did. This is one of the few wineries in Texas that actually delivers a full experience. read more

Everything about this winery was great. It's so pretty off in the woods. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I ordered a flight of whites and liked them fairly well. We got a charcuterie plate. Everything on it was good. It needed more crackers. They brought us more, but charged for them. It's not a cheap place for sure, but I'd love to go back. Service was great as everyone was super chatty. I would recommend getting a flight so that you can focus on what your taste buds prefer. we liked the Granoche Moscato, rosé, and Port (which is very far from our normal). Since their blends are coming from different regions, their makers are looking for something very specific so your taste buds might not match what the true grape varietal is. The ambience is key here inside with quaint. We didn't go to the upper deck. The patio had more seating than the inside and is ideal. Bring sunglasses during the sunset hour. Can't wait for live music in this location! It's right off Highway 82 and you can't hear any noise which was delightful. read more

Nice friendly winery, great staff. Newer wines. Grape types I've not heard of before. Nice food menu. Hummus plate is amazing, I suspect all the food plates are good - I just haven't tried them yet. This is a tough review to write. On one hand, the location, ambiance, set up, service, and overall feel is wonderful. It's nestled in the woods and really has a cool vibe about it. There is a bee or wasp issue, that was a bit unnerving, as we ran around like maniacs avoiding. On to the real review though...the wine very much does not taste like wine. It has a heavy vinegar flavor, and there was one that was so strong it was almost like a pickle brine. I thought maybe my taste buds were off, but our entire party felt the same. I was disappointed, as we do the winery rotation often, and would have loved for this one to be on the list. I would say give it a shot, maybe this type of wine is one you just have to have a taste for...the logo is cool, their story is cool, and the building is cool. Maybe the wine will be cool someday too! read more

We had a fantastic evening there, attending their soft open. Such a great, low-key evening, so relaxing, with great hosts, trying out cool new wines in a really interesting facility built from shipping containers! That sounds rough, but this place is genteel, and their innovative architectural design works perfectly for an unpretentious winery in Texas! The wines were great, with a few surprising varietals that I didn't expect, and their porches were perfect for my wife and I to sip wines, look into each other's eyes, and gaze out over the country landscape! We also snacked on some cheeses and pizza while trying out a flight tasting. This is well worth the short drive from our North Dallas home, and I'm looking forward to visiting again this up-and-coming winery! read more

The staff was very nice. The atmosphere was very nice, except for the septic tank smell. The wines were extremely acidic. We tried the rose and red flights and their wines tasted all the same. I told my husband it was like drinking pickle juice and he said that's exactly what he tasted. I do hope they fix this and I wish them the best. We will not be going back. read more

We found another gem of a place last night only a few miles from the Huff Family Ranch in Whitesboro. How cool is it to hang out for a few hours with the owner and vintner himself! I can tell you - it makes the entire experience that much more meaningful! Deschain is a winery that is producing some really delicious juice. I recommend trying both a white and a red flight to see what suites your palate. For me, the Rose and the Grenache were amazing. I can hardly wait to go back, taking friends and family with us. This Winery is nestled in woods of Oakridge and is overlooking water! Deschain Cellars is full of spunk, charisma and has a "Best Friends" home kind of feel. Discovered Deschain when in OK for a concert. I called to ask about a reservation and the owner answered the phone. She was friendly and welcoming. When we arrived for our reservation, we found a peaceful and cozy environment with indoor and outdoor seating, wooded views, and friendly service. The wine tasting was nice and the cheese and cracker plate was very good. The bonus was the fabulous saxophonist playing. I plan to go back when I go back to OK. Can't wait! A hidden Gem in Gainesville. The ambiance is more than you would expect from a winery. A delightful evening to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine, cheese, crackers, fresh olive bread and Chocolate Sausage to die for while listening to some smooth jazz. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The most impressive is the wine selection. I tried their Red Flight and my wife had the White Flight. These are not sweet wines like so many Texas wines. The Grenache was their most popular Red, to me it was OK but having been in California a few years I developed a taste for a more bolder red and they hit the mark with their Unchained Texas Red. They have plenty of seating and this is a great place for a group to gather. read more
