When I first met Dr. Shaebin about 10 or 12 years ago I had already been sick with MS for over 15…read moreyears. I had had several episodes of optic neuritis with no treatment. For many years I was told no one knew what I had and then when they finally said I had MS at one particular medical facility they didn't offer any medication Physical Therapy... Nothing! So not long after moving to Bend when I met this Doctor Who was considered an expert in the field I was ecstatic. She told me at my first appointment (during which she spent ample time answering questions that I'd never had answered in my appointments before. I was raving about her to everyone I knew I was actually excited because she said the next time we would meet she wanted to discuss therapies. So after having another year of excruciating pain difficulty walking and temporary blindness in one eye. I went to my next appointment so hopeful! The doctor came in looking furious. She sat down in front of me and crossed her arms angrily. She told me if I didn't like her services to find a new doctor. I was in complete shock. I told her I had no idea what she was referring to and that I had no complaints. She refused to budge on her position saying "my secretary heard you. "Then she claimed she heard me as well! Knowing that I hadn't said a single negative word I felt shaken ; as she got up to walk out of our appointment (I had waited for over six months )I said what about the medication that you mentioned... She said you'll discuss it with your new physician! Shortly after I received a letter excusing me from their care. Absolutely astonished and devastated I thought about anything that may have been misconstrued the time before. I remember that when I left her office I stumbled as if someone had shoved me and as I approached the secretary I grabbed her desk to stop the fall. In my embarrassment I said something to the effect of yeah I was just shoved out of there... I thought oh my could this really have been interpreted as a complaint! ?Did the secretary have no sense of humor! Did she not see me stumble!? Did she not hear me when I said "what a great doctor!? "At first I was embarrassed to mention this to my other doctors. As often I have been embarrassed of a circumstance despite the fact that I did nothing wrong. I'm realizing now she should be embarrassed! What if I had a condition that made my temperament such that I would say something against my doctor? Should she not have treated me anyway? The fact that I never said a word against her makes this even worse however she is supposed to be a professional physician! So why was my treatment dependent on proving my innocence!? Since when is liking a person who is a doctor a prerequisite for Care? Eventually I found a new neurologist who I liked very much who wound up sending me to OHSU to see if there were any more up-to-date treatments he was not aware of. He was such a humble intelligent thoughtful doctor. When I tried to return to my physician I was not able to get in to see him and so my general physician suggested I see Dr. Shaeben Of course I remembered her very well Anyway I thought about it and I decided to go see her.She greeted me with very clear skepticism. She told me she remembered me and we could "try one more time". She spoke to me as though I were guilty of a crime and she was doing me a great favor by allowing me to be in her presense. When I mentioned a trial that I was aware of overseas she immediately accused me of falling for stem cell tourism. I insisted that this was a viable trial done in the Middle East and I wanted to know what she thought of it. When she looked in her system she did find that it was a valid and credible trial but offered no apology for the way she had spoken to me. That was all right. However I still couldn't believe that she was not sorry or embarrassed to tell me she was giving me another shot as if I blew it the last time. Covid had been underway and I had a cold the day of my next appointment After canceling the appointment for the safety of everyone around I received a letter that I was again excused from her care. When I called the office to ask why they refused to give me any direct answer then they claimed I missed too many appointments. When I explained why I missed one appointment and that I had called to cancel they then said "it was the doctor's prerogative to excuse a patient for any reason" i gave HER another chance!I would like her to know i did NOT deserve such disgraceful disrespectful service. I could have been on medication for many years which could have deterred my complete inability to walk. She knew she was the only expert in this disease in town and didn't care that she left me without a doctor for so long What a disgrace! !!!!!

I've been seeing Dr. Ries off and on since I had my first back injury back in 1998…read more He came at the recommendation of my father-in-law who has back issues and was a loyal patient of his for years. Not knowing any different and in desperate need of relief, I made my first appointment. Not much has changed in the last 12 years. Seems I end up seeing Dr. Ries about every 18 months or so for a session of treatments / adjustments. I am not the kind who makes a career out of weekly visits and one of the things I appreciate about Dr. Ries is that he doesn't push you to become one either! Dr. Ries is a very kind and soft spoken man. Picture Mr. Rogers in a white lab coat. Enough said there. You get the idea. If you are worried about being "man handled" and "manipulated".....won't happen with Dr. Ries. He is very gentle. Very thorough. Very reassuring and patient. So if you are looking for the "aggressive" type, you will be sorely disappointed. One of the things I appreciate most (and took for granted when seeing another chiropractor in Dr. Ries' absence) is his mobile exam / adjustment table. When you are in agony and can barely walk, let alone lie down on a table...this is a God send. Step onto the pads and barely lean forward. Grip the handles and Dr. Ries gently lowers the table to the horizontal position. Aaaaaaah..... When he is done with the treatment, he gently raises you back up. Never appreciated how wonderful that was until I had to visit Dr. Tim Goulart....who is also a very fine doctor.....but oh, that table.....it's what edges Dr. Ries to the five star level and keeps Dr. Tim at four. That being said, both doctors are very fine and I would highly recommend either one. Dr. Ries: Very gentle, kind ...the Mr. Rogers type. AND the table. Dr. Goulart: Also very kind but definitely more aggressive in his approach and no fancy table. Ultimately, with as infrequently that my back goes out, I am thankful to have both these fine doctors practicing in Bend so that when I need one....chances are that I will be able to find treatment and relief ASAP.

The therapist I used said he didn't want me to exercise because it would inflame my back which was in pain. The therapies didn't help much at all, and he did weird things like placing his hands on my abdomen, pelvis and back while closing his eyes saying it would break up the fascia. I quit before the full 8 sessions because it didn't help at all. The biggest complaint I have is they kept sending me notices saying I didn't pay for a certain day, and then when I proved I paid it, the lady would say well it must be a different day. I had paid my copays every visit at the time of arrival except one appt to which I was late, and they charged me double the next time. Then months later after I had stopped going they charged me again for the late visit saying that they booked me out for a full hour but since I was only there for 45 min they couldn't bill my insurance the full hour, so would charge me another copay. They said I signed it in the beginning acknowledging their late fees. Then a few weeks later I got another notice that said I owed them another copay. I told them I had paid all their copays, and then the lady said well you arrived late this one day so you owe us another. I said I have a receipt from you with your name on it showing I paid that late fee copay. In any case, I ended up having to take pictures of all the receipts I had and email it as proof that I paid. I lost one of them, but since I had already done my taxes that year wasn't saving them all. So then she said, well that date you don't have a receipt for is the one you need to pay, even though I know I paid it already. I paid it because 25 dollars is not worth going to collections, but I will say they try to get your money and you better save your receipts because they obviously don't do good record keeping. Also, if it was a good business they would have a camera in the front watching their lobby and be able to see that I paid all my copays on arrival. I also went to rebound physical therapy and they gave me real exercises that actually helped my back. And funny thing, I saved all my receipts because of my previous experience with southside trying to claim I didn't pay them, but never once did I have a problem with rebound saying I didn't pay... Don't go to southside! Go somewhere else. They take your money and don't have good therapy.

Not only were my doctor, the medical assistants, nurses and front desk ladies all extremely helpful, they had an attitude that made you feel like they actually cared. I do want to give two shout outs for Dr. Megan Smith and Nurse Lauren. I fully believe that Nurse Lauren saved my baby's life by sending me to the birthing center when my NST was coming out weird, and Dr. Smith had me prepped for a c section within an hour. Do not go here if you are seeking help for perimenopause…read more I have been going to ECWG for 9 years. They cared for me during both of my pregnancies and I didn't have any problems, it was fine care - not great but I never left there crying. Today I did. The steady decrease in quality of care from when I was pregnant to postpartum to perimenopausal was shocking. They failed to diagnose me with PPD after my first child was born. They did diagnose me with it and prescribed meds after my second child was born. My routine exams after pregnancy were fine until I turned 40. Then all of a sudden I want to talk about HRT and perimenopause because it's excrutiating to deal with and the first NP said I just needed to deal with my symptoms. Basically "suck it up". I asked for another provider who after some convincing, agreed to give me HRT. She was very rude and cold to me. The second time I saw her she literally barely looked at me, never smiled, gave me one word answers and seemed so disinterested. I asked her if there were any foods or exercises I could do to help alleviate my symptoms and she straight up said "No," I called and complained about her, receptionist was just as rude. Then finally I got a third NP she was the worst of them all. Barely greeted me, stone cold face and demeaner, one word answers and dirty looks!! IS THIS THE TWILIGHT ZONE?!!! I'm still a human being who deserves care even though I'm not making babies anymore. What ever happened to compassion and care? The disinterest all of these healthcare "professionals" show is quite alarming. I could and do get more helpful information from Google and Midi Health. After being a patient at ECWG for almost a decade, today was the last time I step foot in that office. Run as fast as you can away from this place. If you are not going to birth a child, you do not matter.
