Doctors are knowledgeable- that's not why I'm giving such a low rating. The practice is run in such a way that customers come last. It feels like a robotic patient mill, get in line it doesn't matter how sick you are we will get you when we get to you. Understandably, Bend has grown too large for this practice -quite clearly they have not been able to keep up with that growth and have not adapted their business model to handle that. read more

My doctor is great and I have nothing negative to say about that but the billing department is another story. I called about an unexpected charge and the guy was very snotty and rude. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he transferred me to someone's voicemail so I left a message along with my phone number. I never got a call. I have sent numerous messages through the My Chart app and all have gone ignored. This is totally unacceptable. read more

Dr. Meridith Baker at this practice was a miracle worker for me. Easy to see why she is held in such high regard among her patients for medical expertise as well as a 'straight talk bed side manner'. Noting how many there were of 'patients of a certain age' of both genders in the waiting room across several appointments, it seems the word is out about how expert are all fo the physicians who make up this practice. Not to mention how friendly and organized were the front office folks. Plus a special nod to the physician's assistants and technicians who went above and beyond to make the uncomfortable less so for the patients. As final note, it is an amazing thing to say but there is a physical therapist to whom Dr. Baker refers some female patients for PT protocol as part of treatment and from my personal experience, that therapy was key as part of an overall solution. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Ample amount of it in private lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout. 3) IN HOUSE PROCEDURES: Big advantage is most of the procedures that may be needed are able to be done 'in house' including the clinic, sugi-center that shares the building. read more

Weird to rave about trips to the urologist :-) but here we are. I live in CA and need monthly visits so when in Oregon this is my go-to. Had one boo-boo experience (I checked in but it didn't register for some reason so I sat in the waiting room a loooong time but these things happen). My tech Jessica is fabulous and really knows her stuff and patiently answered my semi-intelligent questions. :-) They must be doing something right because whenever I go there the place is pretty darn busy! Yeah expect to wait a bit past your appointment time but that's life with docs am I right? :-) read more

I was in a role over car accident and taken to the ER. I ended up back in the ER with a kidney stone a few days later. I called to make an apt ASAP for this issue and was told I needed to contact the ER about the referal. 3 days later and I still have no response from them read more

I have been going to Bend Urology since the late 80's. My former doctor has since retired and Dr. Meredith Baker has been my physician there for the last 4 years. She is an absolute delight, listens carefully and has excellent suggestion beyond taking a magic pill, I am extremely pleased with her and how she practices her specialty. read more

One thing I've learned since moving to Bend - ask about "new patient fees" before accepting a referral. I was sent to Bend Urology for a follow up after being hospitalized with a kidney stone. They took my urine, gave it an analysis onsite (which, to be fair, was an $11 charge but I believe only involved eyeballing it through a scope for a minute or two) and spent a few minutes telling me ways that kidney stones are formed and how to avoid them in the future. Stuff I already knew thanks to the power of the internet. Then they sent me on my way. When the bill arrived I discovered I'd been charged $542.71 for "OFFICE/OUTPATIENT VISIT NEW." I get that there's paperwork and additional time involved with onboarding a new patient. In all businesses familiarizing oneself to a new client is just part of the process. To charge for it is bold. To charge so exorbitantly for it is greedy. To not make such an unreasonable fee known upfront is unconscionable. Perhaps they know that if they said up front "Your first visit is going to cost a minimum of $500" they'd have far less patients. read more

Got a referral from my doctor, waited for the call to get scheduled, called them and had no clear way to leave a message or talk to staff. Finally got a call after several weeks to get scheduled. Explained that the kidney stones had already passed. I explained that I couldn't find a way on their phone system to leave a message or reach staff. Next day, got another call saying that they were calling to schedule my Urology appt. With the poor communication/organization, I would not trust them with my body. read more

Dr Ashley and his staff put things in my file that didn't happen (i.e. surgeries) and failed to put things in that we discussed. He acted as if he was punching a time clock and was on to the next patient. They didn't send me any pre surgery procedures for my operation and only did so via email when I complained. I had a 3 day window when the surgery had to be performed and they acted as if I had never discussed any of this. I live about 100 miles away and they wanted me to come into town 3x in 3 days. The Dr. I ended up using worked it all out in 1 trip. Very unprofessional. Very poor. Very disgusted. read more

I have seen Dr. Ashley and a few of the assistants over the past year - receiving great care at each visit. The staff was very accommodating over the phone and pleasant in person, making a not so fun visit to urology virtually painless. read more
