Turns out my dentist is not giving me a plaque for great teeth after all. He really hurt my fillings. Hahah!!! To put it simply Dr Edwards and Angelia (Hygienist) make me LOVE going in for my cleanings! Never a dull moment and it's hard to not want to laugh the entire time! I had my child and myself go in today to have a check up. The assistant was very good with my daughter explaining her to brush all the way back in the corner and using an electric toothbrush. I want to make it clear this review isn't about the cleanliness of the office, friendliness of the front desk employees or the competencies and professionalism of those dental hygienists/assistants. This review focuses on the quality of dental work I received from the doctor at this clinic. In January of this year, I started the process of replacing my 15-year-old bridge with a new one by Dr. Edwards at the Deschutes River Dentistry in Tumwater. The entire process, from removal of the old bridge to setting the new one, took 5 weeks, and it was one of the most unpleasant experiences I had ever encountered, but that's another story. In less than 5 months after the new bridge was set, I noticed that it has started to shift, and it constantly shreds the dental floss when used. In August, I went back to see the dentist regarding these problems. After a couple of x-rays and an exam by him, he told me he couldn't find the bridge shifted or that there was any spot that could catch the dental floss. He then suggested I come back in two weeks. It bothered me how easily he had dismissed my concerns. As far as going back to see him, I asked myself: for what? For him to brush me off again? I am now no longer able to chew on the side where the new bridge is located, it has become very sensitive to cold and hot, and I must be very careful with how my teeth are flossed. At this point, eating has become more of a chore, rather than an enjoyment. I had spent $3000 on this new bridge after the insurance, and yet, without anything to show for it. Adding insult to the injury he billed me $83 for the check-up of this shoddy work. It boggles me that I am being charged for having the same dentist check into the work he had performed less than 6 months ago. I am posting my story here hoping that others would do their due diligence when choosing a dentist, especially if there is more extensive work to be done other than the semi-annual cleaning and exams. Don't recommend Doctor Edwards. Any dentist who tells you he does not know why your teeth are rotting out of your head should be slapped. How rude! The woman who cleaned my teeth was also very rude. She said she couldn't understand why my teeth could be so dirty. She had some comment on every tooth in my head even after I told her twice that it had been two years since my last cleaning. To say the least I was pissed when I left. Another time I went in for work and after they figured out the cost, they did some work and said I could pay half now and half the next visit. I paid the first half that day and when I went in to pay the other half I expected to pay the same amount. You know, the other half. But the amount was almost $300 more than it should have been. They could never explain why. Since I could not find my original paper work I had no proof and so had to pay what they demanded. They are also very expensive. I feel Dr Edwards thinks he is better than everyone else because he manages to brag about all he has and belittle you at the same time. read more

If 0 was an option I would. I made the appt for my daughter b/c the filling they put in fell out. It took 3 days to get the appointment at which they were told she was unable to brush her teeth or ware her retainer on that side b/c of the pain, as well as she's hardly eat for several days now b/c of it. But she was told they don't have time and scheduled it for 1.5 weeks out. I work in the medical field and I would never treat a patient like this. When I complained I was told I was being unreasonable and if I found another dentist to get her in sooner it was implied that they don't know what they are doing. We will never go back. Incredible!! Every member of the staff was soooo nice and welcoming. My two children were both seen and my two and a half year old was in a bad mood. They were so kind and patient with him. They were gentle, fun and playful with him as well. If I could give them 10 starts, I would. Amazing with children!!! read more

Just began going here and love it! The staff is all super friendly and professional and help me really feel at ease. They have never tried to sell me anything extra and don't focus on what I haven't done or lay guilt on (not flossing, lol) but really care about how they can help you. read more

Going to the dentist i hate it. But i tell you what I have the coolest dentist ever. He's literally one of the guys, I really ecommended anybody to go there. You know when everything goes so well that you actually forgot how good things could be? Ya, that was today. I called to get an appt because my tooth was killing me. 1) I was a new patient, but they treated me like I was someone they already knew and said "we just had a cancellation, why don't you come in at ____?" 2) They told me how much the exam would be and it was less when I came the check out counter. 3) I thought I needed a root canal and said so much, but NOPE it was just a really poorly placed cavity. They didn't try to upsell me on anything, they just took care of me. It was so nice. read more

I have to admit, I am in shock. This was the BEST experience I have ever had with a dental office. The staff is refreshingly courteous and professional. I have always had anxiety when it comes to dental treatment. No longer, they communicated the entire way, explaining what they were doing and reassuring me. The office is astoundingly beautiful with a view of the sky and in the heart of Tumwater. I had noise cancelling headphones, listened to my podcast and almost forgot where I was. The best part of it was the staff. They are a joy to be around. Dr. Edwards is so kind and thorough. I can't help but be excited for my next visit. Great office, very personable, comfortable, and friendly. Staff and dentist were considerate of our needs. The thing I like most about this office is that they see kids and adults, which is exactly what we were looking for. Deschutes River made my daughter's first dentist visit really enjoyable. She talked about how exciting it was for a few days afterward. I know she enjoyed the neat stuff in the waiting room - and so did we, adults! Dr. Edwards was an amazing dentist. Although new to the area I believe his skills and patient interaction is amazing. He was able to get me in to see me via a same day appointment and spent 2 hours with me. I had been to afraid to go to a dentist due to the length of time since I had last saw one. I had 6 cavities and was able to get them all filled in the same visit with little to no pain after the visit. I was also able to get my teeth cleaned the next day. I really wanted to like Dr. Edwards. I ended up seeing Dr. Edwards because he bought the practice of the dentist I had been seeing. My former dentist was wonderful and I completely trusted him. I've always taken great care of my teeth and have very few cavities. I was expecting to have a normal cleaning and short visit to meet my new dentist. However, I had a horrible experience with Dr. Edwards. As did every single other person I know who went to him. The first time I saw Dr. Edwards, this is how it went: My normal hygienist told me how easy it was to clean my teeth because I had almost no build up and how rare that is. I waited 20 minutes for Dr. Edwards to finally come to take a look at my teeth while I could hear him bs'ing in the other room with someone else. When he finally came in, he told me I had 4 cavities and didn't know why my mouth was filled with cavities. He told me I must be eating way too much sugar and should cut down. I actually CAN'T eat sugar at all. The entire visit he was condescending. I knew something was amiss but I trusted that my former dentist wouldn't sell his practice to someone untrustworthy and I read some of the great reviews he has. I made an appointment to have the "cavities" filled, but I made it with the other dentist in the practice. When I went in to have them filled, the other dentist told me I had 2 very small cavities that didn't necessarily require fillings but that I could fill them and that the other 2 weren't cavities at all. I understand dentistry is a little bit subjective, so I could have chocked it up to a difference of opinion had that been an isolated experience. Fast forward a few weeks and 2 different friends of mine have gone to see him. He told each of them they have 4-5 cavities each. One went elsewhere for a second opinion and was told they had ZERO cavities. The other friend unfortunately had Dr. Edwards fill them. She has been in excruciating pain ever since. If you want to have unnecessary procedures done, he's your dentist. If you don't, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. read more

OMG! Broke my back tooth the week of Thanksgiving...good luck finding a dentist, right? Well, I did, Andrew and his team got me in the same day! They were amazing. They have the latest in technology too. They were able to take real pictures of my teeth showing all the cracks my other dentist had never told me about. They got me in the next morning to get two crowns that needed immediate attention. They made a treatment plan for all the other issues..I'm a pretty savvy consumer and this was no up-sale. I'm so pleased to have a real treatment plan and look forward to many years with Dr. Edwards and his team! read more

Tried Dr Edwards because I had a crown and a cavity, they switched out the crown thinking it would help and filled the cavity. Went back to inform them that it was still bothering me, I was informed that sometimes it just takes awhile. To this day it's still hurting and I cannot chew on it. This on top of the fact under the belief my dental would cover this, I got an unexpected large bill after the service was performed. read more

First let me say I have never written a review for anyone or anything but after my experience with Dr. Edwards and his staff, I felt compelled to write. I hate going to the dentist! I've had one too many bad experiences with root canals, bridges, crowns and oral surgery over the years with several different dentist but after finding Dr. Edwards, I think that's about to change. They are absolutely the most wonderful dentist and staff. Caring and kind....from the office ladies all the way up to Dr. Edwards. They make you feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you walk through the front door right up until you walk out. I had 4 teeth pulled yesterday and bone graphs. Normally I'd be gripping the arm rest through the entire process, but not there. That's how good they are. I would 100% recommend Dr. Edwards for all your dentistry needs. read more

Switched to Edwards Family Dentistry last year and am so glad I did. I've never actually enjoyed going to the dentist until now. The staff is friendly and fun and made me feel right at home. It didn't end with the staff though, the fun attitude continued with Dr. Edwards. He actually acts like he enjoys his job and has fun with it. This is all fine and good but we all go to the dentist to get our teeth taken care of. I haven't been disappointed with that either. I have had a lot of dental work done in my life and this is by far the most pain free dentist I have ever been to. He does wonderful work too. I had him replace my two front top crowns and was amazed how good they look, I have received many compliments on them.
