My mom and I came here on a Saturday looking for toys for my toddler to keep at grandma and grandpa's house. I was hopeful when we walked in because this store is HUGE. After some searching, (because the area was not labeled), we found the toy section toward the back of the store and it was very bare. The toys that were there were poor quality, so I would not recommend this store if you are looking for kids toys. However, we did find a lot of treasures in the children's book section. There were A LOT of books, both for adults and children. The prices ranged from 50 cents to $1 and I paid just under $6 for 9 books. The woman who checked us out was very friendly and kind. I would recommend this store if you're in the market for home goods, furniture, clothing, shoes, and books, but skip it if you're looking for kids toys. read more

There's something special about the way the DI arranges their clothing. It's done by color-all the blue shirts on one rack, all the yellow on another and so on. That just makes me smile on the inside. This one seems to have a special knack for always having an item or two on the shelf or hanging on a clothing rack that just begs to go home with me. This is a huge busy location so they should accommodate for that. The isles barely go two carts so trying to pass someone in the isle if you have a cart or there is a cart in the way is near impossible. It was overwhelming and awful. The people were rude and I'm not going to blame the establishment for the way people act because that's out of their control however I feel like people were more cranky because it was so difficult to navigate the store. read more

Depending on what you are looking for, you'll probably find it here. Everything from picture frames to furniture to deck chairs or clothing and all kinds of kitchen ware. When I need a new lid for a pot, I take my tape measure and come here and spend a fraction of what a new one costs. Good book selection as well. I have been to many thrift stores and this is by far my favorite. It has many items, it is well maintained and organized. My favorite part is in the back where at times you can find some hiddem gems. If you're donating anything glass or breakable don't go here. They literally just threw boxes marked glass in big bins and completely smashed a set of glasses. There were dish sets, full dining sets, and other very nice pieces that someone may have wanted to purchase but apparently this drop off team does not care. Their loss I guess. read more

I left a bag yesterday at check out. I know I dud because I came straight home. Due to the rain I left all my purchases in my car overnight. About 30 minutes ago I went out and got all my bags. It was a lot, I spent close to 75.00. I was showing mom all the treasures and came to last bag and my clothing was not there. Like 32.00 worth of clothing! Vanished. I knew my cashier, I called the store. Asking to speak with the young man. They refused to let me speak to him. So I told the story to Quinton who was so dismissive and flat rude. Before I could even finish saying I left a bag behind he quickly says there was nothing left behind, sorry and attempted to hang up! I am livid! I tell him how can you know that in 20 seconds we have been on the phone? Can you at least go and ask my cashier? He says I can't give you that information? What??? I repeated it to him. He says look nothing was kept behind it won't help to ask him okay. I said we'll him and I are always talking he may have put it away safely cause he knows I'll be back in soon. There's a chance, and it was like 35.00 worth if clothing. You won't go ask him please? He said nope. So I'm crying now and start asking him what can be done because I don't have the bag, and that's a lot of money to just dismiss. And Quinton hung up on me! What should I do now. I am elderly and disabled but loaded up all my deceased husband's clothing and shoe, with much brand new including $100 shoes and $50 shirts still in packages. I looked Deserte up online and read hours and made effort to drive all the way in to leave items at their site. I was there more than half an hour before their closing. Donation sight was closed. I got a cart and started to unload items onto cart when a man came and said they were closed and did not want donations removed items I had put on cart and threw them back in my car, and said I could come back Monday. I have several lift chairs and a lot of oak furniture I was going to donate but will give them nothing now. They are rude and ungrateful. I'd rather haul everything to the dump. read more

Extremely over-priced!!! They get everything donated to them, people shop here that don't have a lot of money and need a good deal and they take advantage of their customer! They say the money goes to help and pay their employees but how about helping your customers by having reasonable prices for second hand clothing/etc. Every time I go in the prices just keeping getting higher!!! I am a thrift store queen, and this DI was rather disappointing. I most often shop for clothing, and they had neither name brands nor anything very current, despite the large selection. I suppose the issue may just be the St. George demographic (it's unlikely retirees will share interest in the same styles I am drawn to), and in one way this was good: the kitchen department was filled with pretty vintage china sets and such. Still, this was the only exciting find of the day (besides a cowhide rug that was sadly selling for $150....come on DI, you're a thrift store!). I visited here with my mom and sisters, who are all thrift store fans as well, and they echoed these same sentiments. Several left empty handed, and the few who did buy something seemed a bit disappointed with their lackluster purchases. This is the only DI in St. George, but I think if I lived here I would avoid returning. read more

HA! I have donated so much, hoping each and every time I go through the drive in drop off, it will be better. Nothing but rude employees. They are lucky to work there. They toss things in one giant bin disregarding value of the item. Some do not even acknowledge you as a donating customer. We have donated many very nice items to this location, but we will no longer donate to Deseret Industries. Donations are thrown into bins regardless if it is clothing or glass. You tell the workers it's breakable and they still turn everything upside down and DUMP it in the bins. Carefully wrapped ceramics or dinnerware, you name it, they break it! read more

I won't donate to Deseret Industries again. I donated yesterday as a way to give back to the community. Items included Waterford glassware that had been carefully wrapped in tissue paper and good china lamps (among other items). Everything was tossed (maybe "thrown" is the better word) into a bin and I could hear glass breaking. Clothes that had been laundered, pressed, placed on hangers, and put into dry cleaner bags fell on the ground and the attendants stepped on them. The attendants seemed to be so drug addled that they were incapable of speaking, much less handling household goods or anything else. What a careless and disappointing mess! read more

It's sad when the prices of the items you enjoy purchasing are so expensive. $15 for a very poor condition video game is ridiculous. They don't test their games and I have bought many games that don't work. You are not allowed to return items that don't work, not even for store credit. I visit St George from Calf several times a year and always check out this store. I've noticed that prices have gone WAY up. The store itself and the restrooms are always clean. I find the criticism of cashiers is a bit harsh as many are "special needs", but certainly capable. And good for Deseret for hiring them. Clothing is clean and well organized but I found children's clothes overpriced. I'm a regular thrift store shopper. Best clothing pricedevare always found at smaller thrift stores. There was literally one toilet working and it had sh*t all over the seat. Not kidding. The prices were ridiculous and the selection was limited. The shoes were filthy and still over $5 a pair, for stained white tennis shoes. I've had 3 separate times that the staff has been absolutely rude to me. I get that some employees are there to learn, but I am seriously taken back by the rudeness I have experienced here. They told me donations opened at 12:00 and to call and make a reservation. 4 people standing out there goofing off. I took my stuff to Hope Chest and they were happy to get it. Not sure if DI is still owned and operated by the LDS church but the prices are horrible for the absolute junk they sell. There is definitely greed running this place. Someone I know worked there and said there are so many nice things donated by wealthy residents of the area but it is not sold in this DI store. It is sent somewhere else, she wasn't sure where. That makes sense when you see the junk they retain. It's terrible. And worse, the locals from St George are not wealthy, in fact they struggle. Not very charitable for any religious organization to crave profits more than they care to help those in need. They will justify their business ethics by saying the are trying to make sure those pickers that resell their finds are less able to make a profit off their "charity". I do like this place and have found a few small items worth my time and money... however, we brought a massive load of paintings and furniture in yesterday... all of it was in great condition some not even used. We recently bought a house and the previous owners left a large amount of things that were nice just not our style.. so here comes the sketchy part.. we came first thing in the morning because we are in search of something specific, we went and asked if they had any more things they were going to put out and they told us no, everything is put out every morning.. So we found it extremely odd that not one single thing we brought in was out. I know those painting and pictures were nice because I thought about keeping them just for the frames... I truly wouldn't mind if they took it to another location... but I'd like to know where the location with all the nice items is??? Can I shop there? Largest thrift store in St. George. Largest selection of books that are well organized. Large selection of clothes but quality is hit or miss. Two rows of collectible cases. Large outdoor yard - furniture, luggage, bikes, sporting goods, some tools. Go at opening and keep your expectations low and you might be surprised. You have to compete with pickers who seem to spend hours every day there, but I always find a book or two. read more

I love when I go to Utah to stop by Deseret industries, I always find Clothing:, and the last time I was in I found two Harley Davidson belt buckles at an amazing price! This store has just gone downhill. I like thrift shopping but the prices here are far from thrift. They need to have staff better sort clothes. They have all clothes, like all pants $6, but some are old , torn or stained for $6 and some are decent quality. There should be a $1 rack for the damaged or older items? Many of the kids clothes are cheaper new. I know families that struggle that think going to the DI will save money on clothes and then find Walmart or Kmart stained kids clothes for $4-5 each when you can walk into Walmart and buy the same tee shirt for $3-4 new! I still visit once in awhile for the large used as is items. Sometimes I am looking for an item that is hard to find in our city and they might have it. It is just sad since all items are donated that they have to charge so much. The Catholic Thrift store charges $1 for a shirt (and does not put damaged items out unless it is a rare mistake) the Hope thrift store is $2-3 for a shirt , again rare to find damaged goods, and the DI charges $5-6 for a shirt with many items old or damaged. The first thing my family did when we got to Utah was search out the nearest thrift store. This one had been recommended to us by a friend, so we were there bright and early. There was a lot of different things to peruse, and I got about halfway through the store before everyone else in my family was ready to leave (I take a long time). The prices ranged from super low to "I wouldn't even pay that price if it was brand new!" For instance, I found a tank top for $1.00, but I also found a pair of old shoes for $12.00. What? Not to mention there were a bunch of different racks with the same items on them - I think there were like three racks with tank tops on them. I believe they were arranged by color/pattern, which was unique. Besides from the varying prices the staff was...just not nice. One cashier did not say a word to me until he was done ringing up my purchase. Another cashier, when I went back a second time to finish the second half of the store, loudly talked to her friend and ignored me until she took my debit card. It did not feel like a welcoming environment and the customer service was barely there. I think I had one associate ask me if I was doing okay. The few cool things I got for decent prices were worth it, but I would definitely think twice before going back again. read more
