The name was a little off-putting, but my curiosity got the better of me and I had to go in to check out this store. The first thing I noticed was the strong smell of leather. Then I was mesmerized by the endless displays of jewelry, clothing and accessories. There is a wide array of items that fit with their theme. I would love to say that everything is authentically made and sourced from the people that the inventory represents, but I am not sure that's the case. This place is a ton of fun. We stop in every time we are in town. One time while not in St George, I was looking for something unique to accent a barn wood frame I was making for a gift. I called and asked if they had anything like I had imagined in my mind. The person that answered the phone took my number and said they would look and call me back. She called back and found exactly what I was looking for. She held it for me until my daughter (who lives in town) could go pick it up. That level of service just doesn't exist these days. Nobody is following covid guidelines. They have a sign saying masks are required by state law but the employees aren't wearing them. One had one covering her mouth but not her nose. Customers weren't wearing masks either. read more

The products inside the store are great - lots of local art, craft, and other artisan workshop. It was truly a joy to see the diversity of items in there. The staff however are incredibly disrespectful and impolite, to the point that my wife and I decided to take our business elsewhere, even though we had items picked out. They refused to acknowledge us, even after we waited patiently for EVERYONE else in the store to get served before us even though we were in line earlier. Trying to get their attention with a "please" was also futile - they were simply committed to not serving people of our demographic, which I find insulting and downright non-American. Plenty of other good shops in the area - take your business there. read more

The store has been carrying food items that are made with chemicals like food coloring (Yellow 5&6 and Red#40) and unneccessary ingredients. They are not safe for human consumption. A plain honey with prickly pear doesnt need coloring. I believe , these food items with these ingredients should be removed from their shelves. They are not safe and actually can cause illness. While attempting to help us he had absolutely no consideration for any distancing let alone the 6 feet expectation. All of the patrons were wearing masks. Cowboys and Indians used to be one of my favorite stores but no longer. I will not give my money to a store where there is no regard for the well being of customers. Same experience as others, nice merchandise, pleasant shop, but ultimately a bad experience from a rude staff. I am pretty sure the woman working the cash register was completely aware I was there waiting but was actively putting in effort to ignore me (especially since I had started waiting behind a woman she rang up). It was weird because at first I just figured she was busy, but the longer it went on, the more I got the impression from her body language that it was intentional. Who knows, maybe I accidentally cursed or just looked too young. Maybe I was supposed to yell "excuse me" loudly as she scurried away again and again (I did attempt to follow her once). Who knows. Cowboys and Indians is a great store with a wide variety of western and Indian item. Everything from quality home decor to boots to jewelry to clothing. The owners are knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. In the past I have purchased several items to augment my Southwestern home decor. This time, I purchased a pair of sterling silver turquoise earrings made by an artisan from the Navaho Nation at Monument Valley. The prices are most reasonable for handcrafted items..... and even better when offered a military discount in honor of my deceased husbands service. I have Never been so publicly humiliated And shamed! I like to collect jewellery on all my travels as a souvenir and reminder of my experiences so I was excited when I went to this store with beautiful pieces. After trying to learn a little bit about the pieces of jewelery, like where they were from the tribes, and from the makers because I am an artist and that is important to me to have a little bit of knowledge of the piece of jewelry. I had a friend also buy a piece and she was showing me which one she got when all of a sudden I was accused of stealing from him In a loud voice so everyone around us could hear In a crowded store in front of my friend and her children I was absolutely floored and taken for a loop not knowing what to do I tried to explain to him that I did nothing an empty my purse I have never stolen nor been accused of something like that it was absolutely humiliating and totally wrecked my evening. I went in this business expecting a "Welcome" or "Hello" of which I did not receive. I roamed the store of all the cute and unique souvenirs they had. But when I approached the glass cases and was interested in a few items, I was never greeted or asked if I wanted to look at some things (mind you, I was looking through glass for quite awhile), although the the women behind the counter would not approach me or ask me if I needed help. The worst part is, as soon as I stepped away from the glass counters, they asked the other people if they wanted to see something in the case (mind you, I'm a colored Native American myself) they completely ignored me and when I got to the register "Kendra" was unfriendly and rude towards me. She insinuated that I was "aggressive" when I grabbed my receipt after purchasing the souvenirs that I had. I don't recommend this place. Either find another Indigenous gift shop or just wait til you reach Arizona/New Mexico to purchase from a small business. Zero stars. read more

Since they had such positive reviews, I was so excited to visit this shop. I wanted to purchase a turquoise bracelet & ring. There were 2 employees in there talking and talking and talking - to each other. I know that one of them is going to re merchandise a section tomorrow because these two were talking so loud and having the time of their lives discussing this and that. Not once did they greet us nor did they ask if I wanted to see something in the jewelry cases. Perhaps I looked as though I don't have any money. Like I said I came to buy turquoise- which I know can be pricey. Especially the authentic kind. So yes I had the money. I'll be sure to let my traveling friends know to skip this place. They are more of a souvenir store which also sells decorative pieces and other trinkets that are cowboy and Native American themed. In the back of the store, they have art pieces such as replica Native American weapons, paintings, drums, and things of the like. In the front of the store, the jewelry here isn't made of gold or diamonds or anything, but glass, thread, and other materials. They have bookmarks, keychains, bracelets, collectible rocks, cacti, and other small giftable items. Terrible customer service!! We are visiting from DC (on the 27th December at 10am) and were looking for souvenirs to bring home. We asked for some help from either of the two ladies behind the counter. One was texting the other on the phone. Both ignored us and continued texting/talking. It wasn't until the third attempt one of them broke away from their phone to assist. We left without buying anything because of the poor customer service and went across the street to a similar store. read more

This is one store we always make time to visit whenever we are in St. George, my wife and I love wandering through and checking out all the interesting things they have! My wife found a lovely wood carved bear and I found a biography on John Wayne! Sharon and Myrna were the best! They do have a store with beautiful merchandise but watch out for the older women clerks that are nothing less than nasty and I have stopped going into the store over the years because of this. There is or was a very nice older lady,dark hair and very slim that worked there and she was very attentive. The other ladies acted like they were doing me a favor by speaking to me and I thought maybe they were bulldykes as they were very heavy with a tough attitude. I now buy elsewhere and they seem to appreciate my money. I was once told after purchasing an expensive bracelet that that there were people in St George that had real money and I guess I did not fit that description. Never again! This place is just for tourists that will be in the store once on a trip but I advise people that live in the area skip it as they show the typical southern Utah dismissive attitude towards outsiders. read more

I travel between Salt Lake and Orange County California at least twice a year on business. Each time I do I stop at this store. Sure they have tourist trinkets, t-shirts and such, but the real store focus is native american jewlry. They have a very large stock of sterling silver and tourquise. Not the usual stuff you see everywhere but really quality pieces, many signed by the artist. All at reasonable prices. The help is outstanding. read more
