The technician (Anastacio) today arrived on time to the appointment. He completed the air compressor service ; he installed the compressor , air scrubbed and blow washed the system . He installed the system in a timely fashioned and left his work area clean . BUYER BEWARE...100% Satisfaction Guarantee SCAM....AVOID! I had some ice developing on the inside register that was preventing air flow. A typical sign of a bad capacitor. It also was do a cleaning. I hired someone from Calexico who told me that he would charge me $80 for the work. This is priced high as a Capacitor costs $15 and the whole process takes around 30-45 minutes. He would later tell me that it was not the capacitor and that it just needed a cleaning and that he would charge me $160.00 to JUST DO THE CLEANING. I reluctantly agreed and told him to change the capacitor out. Apparently, he did a half assed job and just left. He also over billed me $190.00 instead of the agreed amount. I called him and complained. He didn't complete the job that I wanted, he left / disappeared, and didn't leave a receipt. I told him that if I had any issues with the AC I would be back charging him. However, I was obliged to work with him to resolve the issue first. True to word....he failed to change the capacitor out. It was the middle of summer and he was leaving me with little options. I dispatched him to change the capacitor out, and he said that he was on his way. After several hours, when he failed to show up, I felt like I had little choice but to seek immediate action. Desert Air Conditioning has been around for quite a while. That's why it was the first call I made. I explained the situation, I told them that I wanted the capacitor changed out and they gave me a price. They sent someone out after some time. However, once the person showed up, the other guy had already shown up and finished the work. The Desert AC guy was very understanding as he walked up to the gate. He was informed that the work was being completed and he turned around and left. PROBLEM SOLVED. Or so you'd think. Somehow, management got into their minds that I now owe them $100.00 just for showing up and NOT even stepping foot onto the property. WOW. ---HIGHWAY ROBBERY--- Yet they advertise...You wont pay until your Satisfied...100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE!!! Truth in advertising? Business must be pretty slow to extort monies from clients and prospective Life-Long-Customers by utilizing local unscrupulous Debt Collectors. After all we all need new systems sometime- (Home Depot now offers Local Guaranteed Service from a Brand you can Trust) this includes maintenance service. Unbelievable, the first time the secretary called me, months later....was we're looking to see about scheduling a winter check-up. Will you be paying the $100.00. What $100.00!!! She already knew the situation and still demanded money. I reminded her of their Satisfaction Guarantee....Customer Service...CLUELESS. The sad thing about it was YES...I would of scheduled the service...LOL So what do you do from here? You can pay them and back charge the company. After some time the processor will reject their privileges and they will be looking for a new credit card processor with higher costs. You can sue Them and the Debt Collector for reporting inaccurate information in violation of the Fair Debt and Collections Practices Act. There is a $1000.00 punitive fine for each individual instance. As well if you can prove actual loss, these can be included. There are a lot of Attorney's that will take your case contingent "They Eat What they Kill". Panda Group is one and has a large Network of Attorney's across the country who pursue unscrupulous business owners, who feel that because they have a business license, that they can create a phony invoice and send it to collections to harass you out of hard earned money. Keep reporting it here. Track down the business owners address on the Secretary of State website and send a letter to the owner in Palm Desert. Report them to the BBB. In any case, it's better to deal with a company that makes their money off of the work that they provide. Artic Air is a newer company with a positive image, as there are several others. Give them a call and the OPPERTUNITY TO EARN YOUR BUSINESS. Perhaps if the management understood this concept, they would be more busy servicing HAPPY CUSTOMERS, making money instead of spinning their wheels and wasting everybody's time with frivolous matters. Wrote a review before. The owner called and fixed my problem but this one will stick. I spent $1000 to fix my AC unit 6 weeks before this post. AC went out again for whatever reason. The tenant had a death in the family and didn't notify me as they were out of town. Now, they're charging me another diagnostic fee to see what's wrong. I simply requested it be waived due to the fact that we've been long time customers, I get talked into every fix imaginable and I just spent a grand 6 weeks ago. The answer was no. Should I complain because they didn't give me something free? Absolutely not. But considering the circumstances, that I just wiped out my rental reserve and the fact that they already have a 1 star review, you would think they would treat their customers slightly different. We had the ducts cleaned -- Leo was very professional, he explained everything thoroughly- he was knowledgeable extremely polite, was careful with walls and furniture. He wore shoe covers without us having to ask; removed them if he stepped outside and would put them back on before coming in & wore his mask all the time. In May of 2017 I bought a brand-new unit from Desert Air Conditioning. The unit came with a ten-year warranty on parts and I purchased a one-year warranty for labor. This last October (2019), the unit stopped cooling. I contacted Desert Air Conditioning to have them come out to evaluate what the problem was. I was then told by the serviceman they sent out that the evaporator coil and capacitor needed to be replaced. I was then given a quote of $2500.00 (for labor) to replace the coil and capacitor which included nine pounds of freon at $55.00 a lb. At this point I was confused as to how this was happening as well as the cost considering I had a ten-year warranty. I felt as though I was being taken advantage of and decided to call another local company (R&K Air Conditioning) for a second opinion. Keep in mind I had to contact a company who was a distributor of Goodman products since that was the brand of unit that Desert Air sold me and installed. They went and looked at my unit and I was given some very disturbing news on how my "new unit" was installed. According to R&K Air Conditioning, my unit had been installed incorrectly which allowed the evaporator coil to corrode/rust because it was sitting in water due to not draining correctly. The capacitor was checked more than once and was determined to be working fine. Only the evaporator coil was bad, due to the unit being installed wrong on the roof. The A/C was fixed by R&K Air Conditioning for only $580.00. I was told later that I could have bought two units for what they charged me. Please do not use this company. He was kind, courteous and took as much time as I needed in helping to correct some of the issues with my unit. He did a thorough inspection and gave me a fair price to redo some of the aging duct work. He explained everything in detail and even took pictures to show me after he completed his inspection. An item like a disconnect box for an air conditioner cost $5 in Home Depot and aboput $10 in Lowes, but they charge $281 for installing a new box. If you go with the service they also charge for a diagnosis charge of $ 99. Please check before calling them for any service or repair and shop around for more service providers. read more

He listed all of our options and had pricing on the spot. The other guys had to take days to give me pricing. The worst, A manager consultant, Angel, came to my house in Heber, sold us a unit (works great), but there was a guarantee that is it was NOT installed dup and running by midnight that day, we get 500$ back, Apparently they DO NOT write what they do, they do everything by verbal order, no paperwork (except what you sign to agreement), and when 6 weeks passed and got no check, we called them back, Angel had quit, and one of the workers who worked in my house also left or got fired, and they refuse to let me talk to any of the guys who worked on my house! The owner Mike told his worthless secretary, Trina, to tell us he will not pay us back our 500$ that we signed an agreement too and it was their policy, but to call it "Even Steven" since his workers had to come back for 4 days because they had wrong sized parts, they took too long to do it, and the second day NOONE showed up to do the job, he is telling us he wants to CHARGE US MORE, because of his workers faults, also apparently that douchebag ANGEL wrote a note somewhere everything was done on time. The owner MIKE is apparently new taking over the business and he is AWFUL, some Indian native who is an asshole, he refused to take any of our calls, and was on vacation for 3 weeks, and then they said they didn't have copies of any of my paperwork since I'm taking legal action on them. read more

We had them come out to our house a few times to service our units and they missed something each time (didn't clean the unit, didn't put the cover back on all the way). They told us that our duct work needed to be cleaned even though it was brand new or we would be at risk for mold... This ended up being a lie and cost us over $600. During this visit, the technician said that we had duct work that needed to be fixed, that our unit needed an acid wash, and that our unit needed more sealing where it came into the house. They said they would put a cost estimate together and send it over. We never received the estimate so we called another company to come out and when the technician made it he explained that nothing needed to be repaired besides a little more sealant. The technicians at Desert Air were just trying to get as much money out of us that they could and it's upsetting that we put our trust in them. Beware with Desert Air. read more

I have been using Desert Air Conditioning for many years and have always found the HVAC technicians to be very professional. They always make sure to let me know what my options are with no pressure and are ready to follow through with my decision on the work that needs to be done. I have called other repair services in the past but always come back to Desert Air because of its consistent service and reasonable prices. I just had Jesus fix a few leaks on the roof by the air conditioner pipes and he was very professional and clearly takes pride with his work. Larry Barajas, a Service Technician, just left my house and thankfully my air conditioning is once again doing what its supposed to do, my house will be cool enough to return to in a few hours, and I can quit camping on my neighbor's graciously offered sofa. I could not be more pleased with the service. He was prompt, professional and courteous, and explained exactly what needed replacement and why. I was particularly grateful for Desert Air's customer service on a Saturday morning in March of this year. Our air conditioner was not working due to a security company's technician incorrectly installing their thermostat. Since the outside temperatures were projected to hit the mid-90's that day, it was important to get the air conditioning fixed because of my husband's health. When I called Desert Air, their answering service contacted the owner Mike. Mike contacted his technician Larry. Even though Larry was on his way out of town for a family outing, he graciously arranged to stop by to fix the thermostat. They are totally messed up! they take advantage of older people when they know they have no choice but to believe whatever they say. All this is based on the following here is the whole story: My Mother in law bought a central a/c 5 years ago with them and every year, they used to come and service the a/c, however after exactly 5 years when the warranty was bearly over they came to service the a/c like they usually do every year, the tech came did the service and stated to my Mother in law the ac needed some bearings replaced and charged $300.00 for it, however after the a/c tech changed the bearings then after about 5 hours since he left, the fan from the ac started making a very loud noise so she called this company to come and check on it again and it was the bolts from the fan were not tight in correctly so the fan fell and by spinning it destroyed the pressure lines, the hose lines and the motor. So now they are telling her that she needs a whole new unit for 7,000 when it was actually the techs fault. And now obviously she will have to buy a new one. So don't you think this is unfair?????????? What do you think? read more
