My partner and I were traveling across the country and decided to do a walk-in here, we both wanted relatively small pieces (jackalopes). Her artist was great and worked with her to consult on the piece, mine not so much. Beyond the immediately disinterested attitude (whatever, I get it -- you're getting a walk-in), we talked for a few mins and came back with a decent sketch. I asked if he had thoughts about specific placement on my arm, he said "It's whatever you want". I asked about tweaking some aspects of the design (head orientation), his response "yeah, I was just thinking it could be different than everything else on the internet, but it's whatever you want." with a clearly agitated tone. (Look dude, I'm also an artist that does client work, so I try to be mindful of the fact that I'm coming to you for your expertise, but if you can't take simple feedback on something that's going to be on me for the rest of my life, I think you need to rethink your craft.) He left and came back with a totally different design, got it stenciled up and inked in under an hour. Afterwards, after some quick googling I disappointingly found out that it was a (poor) 1:1 copy of another artists' piece he found on the internet (see image, note how he didn't even define the ears correctly) Personally, overall a disappointing experience that I ended up just getting covered up. I'd try to avoid this shop, or at least this artist.

I had one piece done by Oak Adams 12 years ago when the shop was in Provo, and just had one done by Tori, yesterday. Tori is so nice, has great energy, easy to talk to, driven to always work hard and improve her work, professional and an all around excellent person and artist. I LOVED working with her. I have already thought out my next piece in my mind and my new one is not even healed. I would recommend nearly every artist in the shop and highly encourage you to look them all up on their website and see which one has the style you are looking for. I was…read morecalled on a work trip unexpectedly/short notice and requested to see if she could squeeze me in the morning of. She couldn't and no harm done, I asked to just reschedule. The reschedule date didn't work out because she got Covid. All of this was fine but she put the responsibility on me to keep reaching out to her to reschedule. It became an issue when the only correspondence I had with her was through text (she didn't answer any calls). Multiple texts went unanswered and it became impossible to get ahold of her. Once I finally did after threatening to go somewhere else, she tried to blame me for texting her after business hours. I didn't expect an immediate response, but maybe the next day? Not a month later only because I reached out to her. Probably a great artist but forcing your clients to reach out to you to reschedule when you break an appointment and then guilt tripping them for doing so "after hours" is extremely unprofessional. And once I finally did get a rescheduled appointment, she pushed me out to April 15 (two months from now). No accommodation for canceling our previous appointment.

I decided to give it a chance, and OMG am I glad I did! Family owned and super friendly, I went ahead and made an appointment with Sue. She took my drawing and made it more beautiful than I could've hoped. She made sure that I was happy with what she was doing during the entire process, so the art was still my own but even better. Sue has at least 30 years experience, and it showed in her knowledge and light touch; I had very little pain. While getting my tattoo, I was able to enjoy her beautiful art all over the walls. Bottom line, I couldn't be happier with my tattoo and my experience here, and I will be a lifetime client
