I originally was not happy with this place as it was more towards the pain management side however I originally saw dr Miao for my elbow and was completely dismissed of the pain I was in. When I called to ask for a second dr they reacted quickly and got me in to see dr amesour. He was AMAZING! He took time, listened to me and helped me that day with a shot of cortisone. For the first time in 5 months I'm pain free! I'm also seeing Dr Perry for my back and he's also an amazing doctor! Also took the time to listen and I'm on a path to getting better. The only department I'd stay away from is pain management. I had an 8:30am appointment and they didn't call until 7:30 that morning to ask where my referral was!?! Made no sense when it was desert orthopedics center that sent me to desert orthopedics pain management because the girl at the front desk was so unwilling to help she just cancelled my appointment. read more

On my first visit, Dr. Hendershot administered a cortisone shot, which provided relief. My second visit was to discuss the possibility of a below-the-knee amputation due to severe damage to my ankle and tib/fib from a 2012 motorcycle accident. I was exploring whether a prosthetic might improve my mobility. Dr. Watson recommended continuing with cortisone shots for a year, followed by an ankle fusion if needed. If that doesn't work, we could consider an amputation a year later. Time will tell what's best, but I truly appreciate Dr. Watson's thorough and thoughtful medical advice. I didn't have the same experience as others here. Dr Miao is a no B.S. type of doctor. That probably gets misunderstood as a lack of bedside manner, but we actually quite appreciate it. He doesn't make promises, he tells you what you should expect, and his assistant is very nice. The upstairs Therapy is even better. Randy has been such an amazing PT to my son, who has had 2 dislocated knees already in the past year. He's compassionate, reassuring, kind, and funny. He makes my very stressed son (understandably so) feel at ease and hopeful for a good recovery ahead. I hope I will continue to have the same great experience when we visit. The only bad thing about this place so far is that if you try to call just to make changes or schedule an appointment, you're put in a queue of something 15-20 people ahead of you. Sometimes more. Dr. Matthew Fouse is fantastic! He performed arthroscopic knee surgery 15 years ago and did a great job. Recently, my knee started hurting again. They did extensive x-rays and determined that the knee is structurally sound. It is arthritic, and he gave me a cortisone shot. I feel like I went back in time by 10 years! Dr. Fouse will always take the time to explain what is going on. 10 years ago, I had a frozen shoulder and thought I'd need surgery. Dr. Fouse explained that it was just a frozen shoulder and would not require treatment beyond physical therapy. Did PT for a few weeks, and have had zero problems since. read more

it has been over 5 years that my right knee was replaced by the Desert Orthopedic Center. I still have pain and unable put any pressure on my right knee. The service up to the surgery was great, however the follow up service was pathetic. If I was out of pain meds because my prescription was not filled I was subject to their failure to respond via phone contact, I would be turned over an alleged team leader clerk who instructed me to send a text or leave a message and then wait 24 to 48 hours befe they would contact me. read more

I had to practically beg to be seen. Dr. Jessica didn't listen to my concerns at all. It was my first time seeing her, and she immediately suggested hip surgery, despite me expressing that I didn't want to go down that route. If you're looking for an overpriced doctor who doesn't take the time to listen to you, combined with terrible front desk service, this is the place. I was referred to see Dr. Woodworth at Desert Orthopedic Center (at the Desert Inn Rd location) by my shoulder/knee ortho specialist after I complained about my visit to LV Orthopedic & Spine Center. The doctor I saw there for pain in my hip diagnosed me with a possible labrum tear. He refused to do an MRI to confirm this and wanted me to do pain management and PT. I called DOC and I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Woodworth pretty quickly. I brought the diagnosis from LVO&S and discussed my symptoms. He listened carefully and agreed that an MRI would confirm a tear in the labrum. I did not feel rushed during my appointment and could tell that he was truly concerned about my issue. He submitted the order for the MRI and I will be rescheduled for a follow-up. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and Dr. Woodworth is a friendly, knowledgeable professional who put me at ease and offered hope for proper treatment. I had the MRI, which confirmed a labrum tear. At the follow-up appointment, Dr. Woodworth went over the results and the methods of treatments. Again, I did not feel rushed, and he answered the questions I had for the procedure I chose. They were scheduling appointments out for hip doctors 3 months out, so what was I Going to do, suffer in pain for 3 months. They obviously didn't care because I tried to tell them how much pain I was in but they did not care. They checked other locations but it was still 2 to 3 months out. Are you kidding me. I looked on the website and tried to schedule an appointment because it said you could there was an opening in 5 days well their computer system wasn't working properly they said. Had an appt at 12pm to get an MRI based on the referral from the ER (just as I advised them I needed when I initially made the appt.) Arrived at 11:45am to check in - got called back at 12:20pm. I got xrays done quickly and then sat around for TWO HOURS until the doctor came in shortly after 2pm just to advise me that I had to schedule MRI separately at a different location but that I would be going home with a boot today. I thought they left to go grab my boot and come right back in. Instead I sat around for 30-40 more minutes until I finally walked out of my room to get someone -- just to be told they haven't gotten my boot yet because they wanted to advise it was $125 there or I could go on Amazon to buy it. 40 minutes waiting to tell me that?!!! Overall, I spent THREE HOURS for 5 minutes with the doctor and not only walked out without the MRI I went in for...but also without the boot because it took three hours for them to tell me I can just buy on Amazon. Will never go back to this place again. I tried staying patient as long as possible but three hours is absolutely uncalled for --- and that 5 mins I got with the doctor will be an easy thousand dollar charge to my insurance. Horrific and will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is going to be a long review, because I want to include my entire experience. I went to this location twice. Both times I saw Dr. Michael Miao. I have a knee injury and had an unsatisfying experience at another Doctor. The first visit here, I went to the room.The Nurse asked me if I had my MRI results. When I told her "No," she did not seem pleased . I explained to her that the MRI imaging had not given me the disk, but that the results were accessible online. I also explained that when I made the appointment, I informed the office of this and was told it "wouldn't be an issue." The Doctor came in and gave me a full exam and when asked, recommended I NOT get a cortisone shot. I had received one at the other Doctor and was re injured. Doctor Miao recommend I rest for a period, before exercising strenuously. It sounded like good advice . Approximately 3 months later I was scheduled to go back on a Friday. I showed up and the appointment had been cancelled. I was NOT notified. They claimed they probably called and I didn't answer. To their credit, they scheduled me for the next Monday. I went that Monday and saw Doctor Miao again. I explained to him that the plan of rest hasn't worked and I was able to do LESS then before. I also mentioned it was partially my fault for Not emphazing that the MRI results he looked at might not have been valid since I re injured the knee AFTER those images were taken. To the Doctor's credit, he said he could refer me for another MRI and have them inject me with a dye to better identify the problem. I then mentioned a Cortisone shot. I told them I was reluctant to take it, because if it felt better, I might push it too much. His responce: "Why would deliberately want to injure yourself??!!" My Response: "I think you are misinterpreting what I said." His Response: "I understood exactly what you were saying!" Wow! I thought his response was very anatagonistic and frankly unprofessional. I asked about a procedure that I read about where a fluid is injected into your knee to help with pain and mobility . The Doctor claimed he didn't know what I was talking about! The process is called "Viscosupplementation" The fact that he claimed he didn't know what I was talking about, makes me think he was trying to make me feel insecure or he is very ignorant of other forms of treatment. I then asked if they spray the knee with a numbing agent before the cortisone shot. His response : "I don't believe in that because it's not sterile." Ok. So I told him I would decline. He asked me again "What do you want to do about the cortisone shot?" I declined a SECOND TIME. Doctor Miao excused himself and sent in the same nurse with an attitude from my first visit, who came in with equipment. I knew what she was there for but asked her anyway. I asked "What is that equipment for?" She replied "To give you your Cortisone shot." I explained to her that with the numbing spray, that I didn't want the shot. She got up with the equipment and literally yelled down the hallway "He doesn't want the shot!" I felt demeaned when I left the Doctor visit. I would NOT RECOMMEND this business. read more

They are not friendly at all. you try to Speak to someone you're on hold forever and when you do get a hold of someone they put you on hold again. They call me one week before the surgery to tell me they can't do it because my insurance won't cover it. Wtf? I was referred to Dr. Richard WOODWORTH by my Dr following a knee injury. I called & got an appointment the very next day which is usually impossible. I was taken in a timely manner, & completed my forms on an iPad instead of paper forms, seemed much easier & didn't take much time. The receptionist was friendly & efficient. I was welcomed by Dr. WOODWORTH & his PA in a timely & very friendly manner. I discussed my knee injury, x-rays & and examination followed. Dr. WOODWORTH explained my injury & the treatment plan in a very concise & understandable manner. I was given a shot in my knee joint which greatly helped my pain & swelling. He suggested PT which I start tomorrow... hopefully this will fix my knee. I would recommend Dr. WOODWORTH & his staff without reservation. read more

I will start this by saying that the staff in this office are great, they are not the problem...with the exception of not informing us that they were running an hour behind when we signed in. The issue is with Dr. Watson himself. He doesn't seem to want to listen to what his patient is telling him. Some patients are actually in tune with their bodies and may not always be able to say what's wrong in doctor speak. They know what's bothering them. Basically what I'm saying is, he does not have the greatest bedside manner and even though my Mother is currently his patient, she probably won't be for long and has turned me off from wanting to become a future patient. read more

I had an amazing experience with Desert Orthopedics on Wednesday. I arrived before my appointment time, was immediately checked in and completed the insurance info. I was called to the back before my scheduled appointment time and Teresa did my intake. I was then sent to x-ray which happened to be at the exact time of my appointment. Dr. King was great. He was pleasant, professional, and very knowledgeable. He listened to what I had to say and made sure I understood what he found. My very first visit was with Dr. Hanson and he looked like Grizzly Adams! I was taken aback but I loved it!!! This doctor is very easy to talk to and has wonderful bedside behavior! That was my last time seeing Dr. Hanson; I met with his PA and she is great! I cannot remember her name and I am so sorry! She took the time to talk to me and she stated that ATI Physical Therapy was lousy and that everyone in the office felt the same way. I agree with her!!! The reason I am giving them 4 stars is the front office staff. Customer service is off! If someone comes to your desk, you do not continue your personal conversation! Dr Chad Hanson is my mom Ortho and he is one of the BEST in town! He sees patients in 3 different location SW, E sides of town and Henderson. He is very meticulous, caring, explain very well the medical terms and propose treatment options. My mom has medicare/medicaid and truly he always cared and treated her like a little VIP (she loves him) Couple years ago he performed a her shoulder rotator cuff surgery ) at that time she was 78 years old Surgery was performed at Sunrise hospital. After couple weeks of recovery and physical therapy she is since using her arm like a teenager again! Took my mom to see him this time for some Hip issues (arthritis). Dr Hanson recommended a Hip injection instead of surgery due to age and health conditions. She could barely walk! After injection and Home Physical therapy she is much better! Tiffany, Dr Miao's helper makes you feel like you're inconveniencing her day by being there needing their help. Needed a note for my wife's work for light duty as she can't stand and walk for 6-8 hours straight in a restaurant 3 months after surgery without being in a lot of pain and they make you feel terrible about it like how dare you need restrictions. I suggest you go off of their current yelp rating because they really do not care about you or your wellbeing. They're somewhat nice until surgery happens then they couldn't care less about you. I saw Dr Baldauf about two months ago and had injections in both knees. When I came back for a follow up appointment I was told he was running an hour and a half behind so I rescheduled. My appointment was at 10am, I was called back to a room around 10:15 and now it's 11:05 and I'm still waiting on the doctor. We talked about the injections and future treatments. Overall the Dr. Baldauf seems to have excellent knowledge of his field and is very patient friendly, definitely a decent doctor who actually talks to you and listens to you. I recommend this doctor but be prepared to spend some time waiting to see the doctor. He does not rush you once in the room with you which is why the schedule falls behind, however its because he gives adequate time with each patient to ensure you clearly understand your situation and answer any and all questions you may have. To me, the time waiting is worth the service you receive from Dr. Baldauf. read more

Dr. Chad Hanson takes his time in explaining everything and offering options. I really appreciate that he actually listens and responds relative to what was said and not a canned speech. He is not only focused on surgery but on what is the best fit for his patients. At some point I may opt in for PRP (stem cell therapy) as I prefer the least invasive option and see the science based merits of the treatment. I only will award 4 stars because I just found out, that after changing to OPTUMCARE HMO insurance because they accepted it, now DOC changed their minds and will no longer accept the plan. read more

Staff is okay but dr. Fontes is a heartless doctor who didn't even see my broken wrist until I finally asked to see him AFTER I got my cast off. After I expressed my Concern, he literally rolled His eyes at me as I balled up because of the pain. Dick to the max 1. He said the problem with people nowadays is that they think they know better than experts mind you he had never seen my injury in person only through an x-ray. I'm a real estate agent and that's like buying a house by just looking at the home inspection. And I was just expressing my concern 2. Can I just reiterate that he never once saw me in person. And I can hear him with other patients through the wall being very friendly and courteous. It's like he's an agist. This is a long post but I wanted to make sure I didn't leave any details out about my horrible experience. I was referred to Dr Miao after I injured my knee at the end of January. After my first visit with Dr Miao he recommended I get an MRI. I was told I had a knee contusion and an MCL injury and was told to start physical therapy. I went to my follow up appointment after weeks of physical therapy and was told to stop physical therapy but continue at home because he wanted to do an MRI with contrast in case anything was missed on the original MRI because I was in more pain than when I originally injured it. Dr Miao said the MRI with contrast didn't show anything so he wanted me to start physical therapy again for 4 weeks then come back for another follow up. I had my follow up appointment today and explained to him that I am still in a lot of pain and am still experiencing some popping. He asks me if my physical therapist has said anything about what she thinks could be wrong. He then says he is going to call my physical therapist and see what she says since I'm still in so much pain and it isn't localized to one spot. He goes into the next room to call the office and I know this because I heard his entire conversation through the wall.........one thing I heard him say was "Does she say anything about her personal life?".....what does that have to do with anything???? fast forward to him coming back into my room and says "Well I think I know what the problem is, your physical therapist said you don't have any appointments scheduled so that's probably why it's not getting better". I said that wasn't true as I go 2x a week and have 2 appointments scheduled for next week on the 7th and the 9th. He responded with "Well that is not what she said". I told him again that was not true. He then proceeds to tell me that my therapist said "I don't think she does her home exercises". I again say that is not true. He says "Well I don't think so" "you have to make appointments if you want it to get better and do your exercises at home". I tell him AGAIN that is not true. I do what I am instructed because I want to get better!!!! I don't want to be in pain and it's not my fault that it isn't getting better!!!!!!!!! All he kept saying was "Well that's what she said and I agree". I left my appointment very upset and in shock as he was so unprofessional and rude and basically said I was lying. I decided to call the physical therapists office and try to understand why these things were said.......turns out they WERE NOT SAID TO HIM........he asked my physical therapist if I had an appointment today and she said no not today.......they said he never asked about future appointments!!!!!!!!!! They apologized to me for his behavior after I explained how horrible my appointment was. I thanked them for apologizing but cancelled my appointments moving forward as I will be finding a new doctor that treats their patients with respect. read more

I was referred to this location by the VA. I did end up having Dr Woodworth performance surgery. The surgery went really well. I was in a sling for approximately 6 weeks or so. I was able to return to work in about 6 weeks under light conditions. There were only four small scars on my shoulder where the surgery happened. And I feel that it did heal really well. I had initially thought that I was going to be in a sling for two to three months. But, everything has worked out well. read more

Saw Dr. Fontes and he was rude at best. I called in advance to see if they would see me since I had surgery in another state and moved. They call me back and said he would see me. We got there and he said he doesn't see other Dr's problems and why the hell did I move so soon after surgery. I told him he agreed to see me and I had my records and he started to blow me off and after seeing my husbands face he changed his tune. He also stated he has to see 25,000 patients a month 5 minutes each. How can anyone get what they need out of someone like this? MRI was to be ordered but that hasn't happened either. As a retired RN, I actually had the good fortune to work with some of these physicians over the years and if you want quality, personalized, compassionate care you won't find a better group of professionals for your orthopedic needs. This practice has been in the valley over 30 years! The physicians each have their specialties and their credentials are amazing. The entire ancillary staff services from scheduling, medical assistants, billing and physical therapy are all outstanding. There are several convenient locations around the valley to accommodate patients too. Health care professionals and past patients alike will always refer this practice with high marks when asked.
