I struggled with writing this 1 star review because I like to praise companies for what they do right as opposed to what they're doing wrong. After thinking about it more I really felt compelled to make sure to share my experience. I was referred to Humberto by someone who used him professionally for remodel projects. They said that he did a good job for them but he wasn't the least expensive and I don't mind paying for good quality work. Let me first start by saying that the job was almost 2 years ago so I have given ample time to see how good the workmanship was. So of course just like a first date everyone is on their best behavior the first couple of dates. There were a few minor hiccups when we started: 1. The pavers were laid the wrong direction... that was an easy fix, yeah it took a little more time but they needed to be laid the right way. I mean I printed a picture and laid out on the diagram how the pattern should be and went over it a couple of times so not sure how that happened. 2. I asked for the drip lines to have the attachments at the tip and for them to be the adjustable type so I could control how much each plant got depending on the type of plant I was going to plant. He buried the drip and then when I asked him to do it the original way I asked he charged me extra. 3. I asked for metal edging and I saw the metal edging and the thickness at the specific store where he got it from. So when I noticed after he installed that the edging wasn't as thick and looked cheap and flimsy I decided to measure it and go down to the store just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Sure enough it wasn't the correct gauge. I asked him about it to which he responded that they didn't have that gauge and there was only 1 thickness. Listen I know people make mistakes but just own up to them. I had him meet me at this supply store and they confirmed that they did indeed have the correct gauge. Luckily the manager at the store was so nice that he gave me the contractors price which was less than the original price that I was given by Humberto. I didn't the landscaper mark up special this time around. 4. For the kicker...After I had him reinstall the correct gauge metal edging I asked him on more than one occasion if it was supposed to stick out nearly 4 inches above the ground.. I thought it was supposed to be more flush to the ground and act like a boundary between the landscaping. He didn't respond to my multiple text messages and unfortunately for my dog he ended up stepping right on the metal edging that should've been placed at least 4" into the ground. Instead...one injured pup and $500+ later in vet bills. We asked him to come and back fill against the metal edging with more granite rock so that the step down wouldn't be so bad... and of course he responded to that... Cha ching So you ask why am I writing this review nearly 2 years later? Because I tore the metal edging out this past weekend only to discover that most of the pieces were no more than 1/4 of an inch in the ground and the only reason they didn't cause more problems was because the 12" metal stakes kept them somewhat in place. Now I am having to have the edging redone. I spent over $9000 and you think he could've taken the time to install it right... I should've disputed the credit card charge way back then. I had Desert Outdoor Landscaping provide an estimate of $147 dollars. They left wanting over $1000. I still have 3 palms that need to be trimmed. They tore up my irrigation, weed whacked through electrical wires, and killed 3 trees. All of which were over 20 years old They left cuttings in my neighbors yard and crushed their lime tree. I got a survey from home advisors said this stuff and got zero contact from them. I am beyond disappointed and can't go out in the back and even see the destruction they caused. Desert Outdoor Landscaping did an amazing paver, AstroTurf, landscape design and install for our back yard recently. We totally recommend them and plan to use them again to install pavers in our little courtyard in our front yard and walkway. Humberto was responsive as soon as I reached out and was so easy to work with. He helped us create a design for our backyard which is now an extension of our living quarters. The price was right. And a total bonus, they completed the job a lot sooner than I ever imagined possible. The products are great quality & Humberto asked about possible upgrades as we went which we appreciate because now we don't have to find materials or take time out to do later (paver sealer for one). Humberto is awesome! His crew are great. They completely landscaped our backyard last summer and have been keeping our front and backyard maintained since. We love that they just come monthly to keep everything looking fresh. Their prices are fair and they do a wonderful job. They installed sprinklers, sod and concrete pavers. They even got someone to install an electrical outlet outside for us and for our sprinkler timer. Humberto and his team are super friendly and professional. They come out almost immediately every time I've called them. This last time was to remove a huge branch that came down in the recent wind storm. Adan came out the next day and spent hours cutting and removing the branch. Afterwards he cleaned up the area around the tree and the rest of the property as well as it was covered in leaves and blossoms that had fallen in the wind too. My wife and I were moving from MN to AZ and wanted to have someone clean the backyard up RIGHT when we got there so we could get that done and enjoy outdoor living. Humberto was quick and efficient. He connected with our realtor, walked the place before we moved, gave an estimate and started the work right when we arrived. We removed a palm, trimmed a fern and grapefruit tree and had a BUNCH of other trees and plants to trim - and the grass. He was fast, efficient, and communicated great with us as well as with the neighbors since it was loud and branches were overgrown in their yards as well. We have him coming monthly as well as doing our turf and more patio work/tiles this week. He is very prompt on getting the work done. We have been so impressed.
