Jose, the owner of C & A Landscapes responded to my quote quickly and was in contact via text. For my yard clean-up, he had to give and estimate and he told me that he was in the area. When, he came, he gave me 3 prices for different levels of cleaning; it was $95.00, which I thought was a decent price for the amount of work needed. And, he fixed a big leak in my drip system line for $45.00. He scheduled it for 3 days out and told me that his crew would be out here at 8:00AM. Well, on the day of the work, I looked out the window and I saw Jose. When, I asked what happened to the crew, he told me that they were on another job that took longer than expected and he didn't want to have to reschedule me because of that. I reached out to Jose about a month ago based on reviews from Yelp. It took a couple messages but he got back to me and we were able to work out a deal for him to come out and clean up my front and back yard. I also had him plant some flowers. He came out the following week and did a wonderful job. About a week later I notice some standing water in my back yard and asked him to come out to take a look. I sent pictures and tried to reach him via txt message. It has been two weeks and I still can't get ahold of him. Not returning voicemails or txt messages. Now I'm stuck with a $400 water bill and having to find another landscaper to come in and fix what he broke. I gave him two stars because his prices were reasonable and he did a nice job cleaning up my yard. Update: My timer settings did not change until after your visit when I noticed my yard was flooding. What did you expect me to do? Leave the system running while I wait for you to respond. Also, you managed to destroy 2 sprinkler heads in my backyard as well. I found pieces of them amongst the yard clippings that you also left. I called you and texted you asking about the flooding and to settle our debt and setup the bi-weekly service. Since you chose not to respond I wrote a message on Yelp. That got your attention because you responded within 24hrs. Then you blame the lack of communication on not receiving the text messages. But you remember the conversation about money owed. To bad, since the money and flooding messages were in the same text. I'll pay you the $75 I owe you. I cannot recommend your services as I have to pay another service to come out and fix my irrigation system that you broke and replace the plants that are dying because of it. I called and Jose came over to review my "jungle" backyard and crazy front yard. He gave me an estimate and it was very reasonable. I am very pleased with the front/back yard. I didn't ask him to spray weed killer but he did anyways. And since it was slightly raining that day, he said to call him in two weeks and he can come back to spray again. I had a question about a cactus, and instead of charging me to conf out and look/talk about it, he asked for my phone number and explained a lot of stuff to me regarding my cactus issue. We had a giant beautiful tree in our yard that suddenly died due to a disease. I got a few quotes to figure out how to handle removing it. Jose responded to my message on Yelp within hours, scheduled a time and date to come out, and was the only business who actually showed up at the time he promised. He helped us understand how the tree died and even talked with us about caring for other trees in our yard. Jose and his crew artfully removed our tree without causing damage to our yard or home, chopped the wood for firewood as we requested, and stacked it up neatly for us. They left the yard looking better than it looked to begin with. Scheduling and coordinating the work was very easy. Jose is so knowledgeable about trees and plants and his passion for his work is obvious. We will definitely work with him to choose and plant a new tree, maintain our trees and bushes when needed, and upgrade our irrigation system in the future. It seems like I have had a similar experience to another reviewer on here previously. I recently hired Jose to come out and do regular maintenance/cleanup on our property. They did a decent job, and I was satisfied. I asked him about bi-weekly costs and obtained a price quote. I also advised him I would be calling him again for the next time. He didn't advise me that I would need to schedule anything super far in advance, and it wasn't needed the first two times I called him out previously. The third time I tried to contact him for a normal service, he didn't respond until a day later advising me he was booked. He didn't offer any other times/dates when he could stop by, and his responses we very late or non existent (unless I followed up two or three times asking for a response). He honestly didn't seem very concerned with keeping my business, and toward the end of our conversations was flat out rude and unprofessional. I have included a snip-it from one of his last messages to me below: -sorry you believe your needs are above everyone else's. Like I said I get booked fast.- In conclusion, I understand this is a busy season. Being busy, however, does not justify this lack of responses/professionalism nor his rudeness. They do a standard job for a standard price, but I wouldn't actually DEPEND on consistent service with this company. read more

This is regards to a commercial property I own in Peoria even though I live in California. I will give him an extra star for at least going out to my property and let me know he had an estimate. After that he was not to be heard from again. I called him to let me know what his estimate would be. Called him again and gave him both my number and email to please email me an estimate. Both times he decided he didn't want to follow up. Not saying he might not do good work but I felt this guy let me down. Hope others have better luck. The first time I met and talked to Jose was when I just moved to my new home and had him came for an estimate of some landscape work. That was last year, and too much moving stuffs made me forget about his estimate. The second time was a couple of days ago. He was coming and did the cleanup on my rental property. Both times, Jose is very professional and knowledgeable. He came and give me an estimate for the frontyard. I met him the next day asking him to also do some cleaning to the backyard. I have yet to find an amazing landscaping company. This company is just too expensive. We were charged $50 just to have our weeds sprayed that would eventually die. That wasn't removal or anything. To get a pre emergent spray done- to prevent new weeds -would be $200 for the yard. The owner is very nice, but just too pricey in our opinion for the work being done. read more

I recently started using C & A Landscapes consistently and have been so happy with Jose. He is so professional and easy to communicate with. While Jose had come out to my home before to do various trimmings and clean-ups which I always thought were timely and very well done, over the last few months he has come out consistently to my house to do maintenance. I used to just wait until things were a real mess before I'd call, but now he comes out every month like clockwork and does maintenance on my yard. While I never thought I'd need monthly maintenance, it really keeps things under control and helps me budget my needs effectively. No surprises. He's always on time and his work is so tidy and thoughtful--it feels like a housecleaning but for the outside! He always does more than I expect, like sprays weed killer if needed and make sure the whole yard looks clean. He's really knowledgeable about plants and trees; he's not just a trimmer. He really loves what he does! Having a regular, affordable, and high quality landscaper has been so great. I replied with requested information and no further contact from him. That was 6 days ago. I'm guessing it just fell through the cracks but maybe if you are too busy to schedule appointments its time for some administrative assistance. Had him come out to review and give me an estimate on reseeding. He wanted to change out my irrigation system and heads and seemed very knowledgeable. I had to ask twice for the estimate to be emailed, and I scheduled him to come do just the reseeding, but not change the system. He came, scalped my little area, and reseeded and we had agreed he would move and change out one head on the system for an additional $50. When he was done he came to the front door and I paid him. He was to come back in 2 weeks to change the watering and see if he needed to add additional seed. Well, he Did Not move the sprinkler head. And he never showed up in 2 weeks to reseed areas and change the watering schedule. No surprise. Don't use this guy. read more

Sorry to have to give a bad review but there has been no follow through. I called Jose to ask for a sprinkler inspection/repair/replace of a couple heads that weren't working. We also requested help to plan a remodel/repair of our patio/fountain and asked for a quote. Jose agreed to come the day I called (Wednesday Mar 27) and quoted us $120 to be paid up front to do the sprinkler work. He also said he'd look at the patio/fountain and send us a bid. Jose came at the agreed time on the 27th. Was very professional and courteous. Seemed like a very nice and competent guy. Stayed about an hour and talked us through various patio/fountain options. He agreed to bid out a couple options and email them back to us. Next, he ran the sprinkler system through its stations and pointed out which heads and lines needed to be repaired. He didn't have time/materials to repair that day but said he would come back. I texted him our email address, to which he was to send the quote for the patio work and agree a day to come repair the sprinkler heads. He said he'd send the patio quote on Friday or Monday. 18 days have passed. I've texted several times but he has never sent a quote, replied to any texts or called. Jose is a nice guy just didn't follow through. read more
