The PA, Mary, was great. She spent time and was thorough. That's where the quality stopped. The tests that she recommended were never ordered (CT scan and lab work). After 4 phone calls and messages left with no return calls, I gave up. I had a pulmonary function test and 2nd office appointment with Mary scheduled. We were to go over the results of the CT scan and lab work (that was never ordered) and also the pulmonary function test that was to be done on the same day as the 2nd office visit, but then received a voice message saying that Mary wouldn't be there on that day but I was "welcomed to have the test done anyway." I would never recommend that practice but Mary was thorough in her assessment and plan. I'm not sure what happened to the follow through. read more

Medical staff is competent, polite, helpful, and professional. Office staff is so immature (rude and disrespectful) that after 3 years of going there, I will not go back under any circumstances. They canceled my appointment without notice. When I arrived, they said that they had left several messages at my home phone number over the prior week. Over the past 9 days I have asked what number they called - asking once in person and twice through the patient portal - and they refuse to even acknowledge me. I have downloaded all incoming call activity for my home phone number over the past 2 months, and have not received a single call from them, so evidently they left messages at the wrong number but are too immature and unprofessional to admit it. I really don't have time for businesses that employ people who waste my time and prevent me from getting medical care. read more

I was referred to Desert Pulmonary & Sleep Consultants in Gilbert by my Primary Doctor. Due to what turned out being a misdiagnosis by an Emergency room visit at Mercy Gilbert, the first of November. Kevin Main P.A. is who spoke with me over Tela Conference for each apointment. I Only was seen in the office once for a followup & all were with Kevin Main P.A.. Never saw a Dr. at this pracice. I was pleased with His professionalism & his care. It turned out I had Valley Fever. Due to the misdiagnois & being put on the wrong meds, the Valley Fever had spread to both Lungs. It took 5 plus months to recover from the Valley Fever. Kevin Main PA, I would give high marks. The front office I would describe as a ship without a rudder. No Captain at the Helm. Dr Gill was fine, however the office take days and days to reply to a phone call. Even in a case of an emergency. The phone is never answered by a person only an answering machine. They want to have appointments that make no sense at all and cannot explain why they want you to come. After asking why I needed to come in and they could not explain it, she ended up yelling at me and telling me they were sending all my paperwork back to my referring physician. While we were waiting in the doctors office and had been waiting for paperwork we had to go and find someone as to why we were still in there after 30 minutes because we had been forgotten about. On 2 separate occasions I contacted Dr. Slobig's office for help in getting refills of medications. Their office simply does not return the phone calls. Even when I tried to get an appointment and called several times, no one had the courtesy to return my call. I would never recommend this office. read more

Doctor Gill's medical assistant, Sharon is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE at her job. (Have dealt with this SAME EXACT issues for the last 4 months) I call every month to get my medication refilled and am always forced to leave a message and can never speak with her directly. Nor does she ever call me back to confirm or to notify me. I ALWAYS call 6-7 days before I run out because my pharmacy always needs a few days to fill the prescription. I called 6 days ago and SHARON NEVER sent my refill prescription over. I'm now out of medicine and can't even drive myself to work. This is very frustrating and dangerous to not do your job SHARON. People that come and see your BOSS (Mr. Gill) have serious issues and RELY on their medication. DO YOUR JOB read more

I would give the doctors 5 stars. Unfortunately, the girls who answer the phones have the worst attitude and treat patients horribly. I was once calling in, and the one girl I was speaking with was so nasty! My daughter (whose a nurse) was sitting next to me and could hear her tone and attitude. She commented on it, and suggested I go elsewhere for care. The front desk has the worst patient care, and the worst phone manners towards the doctors patients. You're the first contact and first impression for that office, so pick up your game girls! Maybe the doctors should consider cleaning house and getting staff who cares about the patients and love their job and love helping people. Their calls should be monitored and be given a refresher course on patient care and customer care which go hand in hand. And maybe have some empathy. I love the professional medical side of the practice, just would rather not have to deal with sour front desk people! You should consider yourself lucky to have a job working through this epidemic as others have lost their jobs and possibly more. So be thankful! Referred to Desert Sleep Consultants from my primary doctor for insomnia. Dr. Gil is dismissive and unhelpful. A sleep specialist himself, he gave me a different sleep doctor's name & even got the guy's name and location wrong. My own primary care physician was amazed at how unhelpful he was. Maybe the doctors here are O.K. The problem is that by the time patients get past the arrogant and belligerent support staff they are so angry that any recommendations the doctors provide is likely suspect or ignored. If you are looking for pulmonary and/or sleep consultation, go somewhere else. The marketplace will weed these folks out before too long, but until them avoid them any way you can. read more

The doctors office was very informative I would have gave it a 5 star rating but they gave me in inhaler that's not typically covered by my insurance. They swore it should be covered but the copay was ridiculous. I really wanted to try it to help me situation. I called 1st time and said "I think I might have valley fever" ...immediate response from the young girl on the phone "appointments are a month out right now"...I hung up. I would never give my care to an outfit that answers a call like that. Before worrying about your schedule...take the time to provide new patients with alternatives specially if they may not be able to wait. Example, recommend going to urgent care...for quick emergency check and they can help with immediate triage...stupid when physicians don't train office staff to address more effectively. I saw Dr. Gill at the Baseline location for a consultation to get a sleep study. The appointment went well. He was very nice. He suggested I did get a sleep study done which is why my primary care sent me to them. After the appointment, I went to scheduling and spoke with Lisa. She handled both the scheduling and billing for the procedure. She advised me that payment would be due at the time of the appointment and based on my deductible that I'd need to pay $630. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue but I was on medical leave and I know my deductible had been met. She told me we would schedule the appointment and she would verify the deductible again before the appointment and call me with whatever the new estimate would be. Great. Week of the appointment, no call. I called again and asked what is the amount that I needed to pay at the time of the appointment, she said $630. She said it was still an estimate and I asked if I could be billed. She said no, I had to pay that amount. So, I had to cancel the appointment because they wouldn't even take a partial payment. When I asked for something that provided me in writing what she was stating the estimate would be she said she couldn't provide that to me. I called back to ask for that information again so that I could reach out to my insurance about it and due to the fact I needed the information as part of my disability claim. Again, she said she couldn't provide it but when I told her it was to provide for my disability claim she changed her story and lied to me saying she'd never advised me I had to pay upfront. WTF? Seriously! So, not only did you try to get me to pay an amount that even my insurance said they shouldn't be charging but now that I wanted proof for my claims she wanted to change her story and tell me that I misunderstood her. No, you lied to me and then you wanted to backtrack now that I was questioning the legitimacy of what you told me. I will be filing a complaint with the office manager, with my insurance company, on top of leaving a negative review every place I can because people should know the games they want to play with people's health even when you have health insurance. read more

I highly recommend finding a different sleep center and a different sleep Dr (we saw Dr Gill), as both did a very poor job making my health much worse than it was before I saw them. I already had a sleep study and cpap but I moved to this area and the DME wanted an updated prescription before they gave me a new mask, so I went to desert pulmonary and saw Dr Gill. Though the cpap I had was treating my sleep apnea very well, Dr Gill said I had to have a new sleep study. The sleep study was poorly done. First, they used equipment I could not buy - sleep studies are done on cpaps you can buy because that way they know it will work for you at home with the settings they give you. I did get a copy of the sleep study by having my Dr request a copy, as Dr Gill didn't offer to give me a copy or respond to my request for one. They started out at a very low setting and raised it once every few hours and then wrote a prescription for the level I was at when the sleep study ended. This was way below what was optimal for me (and below what my previous sleep study showed I needed). The prescription was written for the most cheap cpap type, with no humidifier, no software, no autoflexing (as we change sleep positions, change our sleep patterns because we are more tired or had a drink or two, change altitudes on a vacation, etc., our air pressure level needs changes and a cpap without autoflexing can't adjust to any of this). My first Dr understood this and gave me a good cpap with the humidifier and autoflexing. To not have a humidifier in dry AZ is just asking for sinus troubles and nose bleeds. But Dr Gill prescribed the cheap cpap with no humidifier or autoflex. My cpap immediately showed that my sleep apneas had increased by 10 fold (the times I stopped breathing). I brought this up at my one month followup Dr Gill's answer is my equipment is correct, cpaps are not designed to measure sleep apneas. My sleep apnea symptoms were returning and I was showing the symptoms of untreated sleep apnea - falling asleep unintentionally, snoring loudly, being very groggy after 8 hours of sleeping, etc. I reset my cpap to my old prescription (I found how to do this via an internet search). Immediately my sleep apnea events reduced back to a healthy level and my symptoms went away. The software showed I needed a much higher prescription that what Dr Gill suggested. If you never had a cpap that was properly prescribed before you might not know it when Desert Pulmonary does a bad sleep study and you only get your sleep apnea partially treated, you might even think it was better than when you were untreated so think they did a good job. But you will not know they are doing a poor job that will result in a shortened life for you (with your sleep apnea not properly treated). No matter where you go, Insist on prescription for a cpap with autoflex and a humidifier and the fancy software and rely on what tells you more than any Dr or sleep center. She spends an ample amount of time with her patients, and is a very good listener. I've been a patient here for two years, and would not go anywhere else. At least one member of the nurse staff is very lazy. I had a very serious lung disease that needed a pulmonoscopy to diagnose the cause. We were told by desert pulminary that they were waiting on the hospital to have them schedule the procedure. My wife had just gotten off the phone with the hospital prior to talking to desert pulmonary and the hospital said they had not heard from desert pulmonary. Not only is she lazy, but a liar too. The front office is a joke. They have the most obnoxious guy working at the front desk. He is loud and very unprofessional in discussing his personal life in front of all the patients. Dr Ahmed was pretty lame too. He had no idea what my problem was and could give me no information or direction on what to do next. Avoid these guys. Go to Mayo. The Mayo clinic is very friendly, exceedingly professional and the doctor diagnosed my problem the first time around. read more
