The wait time for receiving an appointment is rather too long. And the receptionist Alexis and Molly are really rude. I had called up for an appointment and I was told that there was a vacancy on 31st. I wanted to double check my schedule, so I called up again just after 5 mins (literally just 5 mins). Molly (another receptionist) told me that no appointments were available till 8th without even looking for availability. When I told her that Alexis had told me about a availability on 31st, she wanted to check (oh god!). After having me on hold for 5 mins, Alexis returned and told me that there is no availability till 8th and I could have an appointment with Carlie (assistant). Really poor service and rude behavior. These guys were booked out past the holidays, but got me in on a cancellation (I appreciate that they do wait listing) in just a couple of days. The office staff were all very pleasant, waiting room was clean, roomy, and also pleasant. Dr. Woods spent sufficient time reviewing my issues and listening to my complaint. He did not seem rushed in the least, which I highly admired; I never return to any doctor who rushes in and out of the room without giving me an opportunity to ask all of my questions. The assistant in the room during the exam and taking skin samples (or shaves or whatever they called it) was really cool too. They both helped take away the stress some of us normally feel going to the dermo (you know, getting practically nekkid with a piece of paper to cover up with). The kicker here is that I stated that I needed some skin biopsy results back by a certain date, as I needed to take them to a different type of doctor. He said he would do what he could but no promises (it was right before Christmas) and he sure delivered. As soon as he had the results back, which was much faster than I could have asked for, he called me personally with the results to make sure I had the right information to carry in to my next doctor's visit. Making the appointment was easy, I was early for my appointment and was taken back before my scheduled time. It saddens me to say I'm SO disappointed with the services I received here. I started at Desert Sky a year and a half ago for my acne and I saw absolutely no improvement between appointments. I would always tell the staff I thought I needed a different medication because nothing in my face was changing. I was always assured, "Give the medication time to kick in. You should see results by your next visit" BS!!!! I spent $50 on my acne medication and $35 each visit here for a year and half? Add it up. And with that nothing changed, and nobody did anything when I complained at each appointment every four months. When I realized that this was a waste of money, I just didn't bother to show up to my next appointment; I was a little shocked to see nobody called to ask where I was or why I had missed my app. The staff (at least the two dermatologists they had me seeing) do not get involved or seem interested by their patients. This experience makes me scared to try other dermatologists and waste more money. I'm done with Desert Sky for sure though. read more

I would rather give 0 stars. I had previously put a good review up after my 1st visit. The staff was friendly and sincere. Since then I should update. My second and subsequent visits were never with that same Dr. again. A small birthmark that I had as long as I can remember (birth probably) was deemed to be "suspicious" after a biopsy....just suspicious... I wish I knew better to ask more questions. Then I was told they needed to go extra deep to remove it. Extra deep to remove something just suspicious??? HUGE scar and stitches and some kind of pin stuck in there for months. In the meantime at this same visit they were supposed to look at a large lump that appeared on my arm. He told me no...I would have to come back again (another appointment charge)...he would remove it and yes again he was gonna have to go really deep probably even near a nerve he said. OK so at this point I was like hold on...you aren't you even gonna biopsy it or try to see what it is? Something is not right. So I cancelled that appointment. Good thing I did cause guess what? Around the same time the huge bump shrunk and went away on its own. wow!!! If you want to go to an office that will over diagnose and ramp up procedures to make more money then this is the place for you. Meantime I call the office to let them know my concerns and that I really don't think I owe them an additional $500 and change above what insurance paid. I am now in collections! ASK QUESTIONS don't do what they say without a second opinion or asking a lot of questions. You cannot trust them its about making as much money as they can....not your well being. read more

Dr. Woods does it again!!! I had two major concerns with a growing bump inside the front of my nose (that was not a pimple and did not hurt at all) as well as a growing bump where my -- soon to be removed -- nose piercing is. He is extremely efficient and helpful, and he explained what they were as well as what we could do about them. I ended up opting to get the bump inside my nose removed since he said it was a cyst that was probably going to get bigger over time, and then I got a cortisone shot in the bump on my nose piercing. While the needle in my nose to numb wasn't super comfortable, the numbing hit quick and I didn't feel a thing as per usual. The bump next to my nose piercing has almost completely disappeared now a day later. They are nothing but professional here and truly get it done. I have never left disappointed, and this time I really didn't as Dr. Woods even helped me with another issue involving keloids in my earlobes from when I was a child. I love this place. I was suffering from severe acne and finally made the decision to go see a dermatologist. I was a little hesitant at first because its a embarrassing situation for me and was not quite sure how much it would cost. Desert sky is outstanding. I was able to fill out my information on line in advance, so it was fast and easy when I arrived. The staff is super nice and friendly. I was a 100% comfortable. They prescribed me some awesome products even giving discount cards to make my prescription affordable. They sent the prescription straight to my pharmacy, so it was ready right away. After going to 4 other doctors for some serious skin problems that were making it so I couldn't complete even the most basic tasks without pain, Dr. Woods was the one who FINALLY figured out how to help me. It started with him taking time to actually LISTEN to all my problems and what I had tried. After listening and examining me, he took the time to explain his diagnosis and the reasons for what he was prescribing. I really appreciated that he did this and didn't just quickly look at me and then prescribe something without me understanding (like most the other doctors I went to did). I've gone in for two appointments, the first of which I was given about five minutes of superficial examination before being rushed out the door with a prescription for a topical acne medication despite the fact that I asked Dr. Woods to avoid topical due to my having overly sensitive skin. When I went back for a followup examination and told him that I had developed painful burns on my face after just one use, he waived the issue and tried to give me a generic of the same medication instead of listening to my concerns AGAIN! The office staff is very friendly and courteous, but I would not recommend this doctor to anyone! read more

The DR is ok but the billing department is incompetent and can't read the numbers and letters on the insurance card. They submitted insurance information wrong which resulted in all charges getting denied and billed back including from their 3rd party skin lab in Tucson. I called to correct the problem, the lady read back the card information incorrectly so we got it straight. She said she'd resubmit and correct everything. 2 months later I'm getting collections letters from their lab. I called back again to find out what the problem was and had to reexplain the entire situation because none of the information was corrected in my file or resubmitted. Are you people for real? Who has time to continue to call back and give the same insurance information over and over again. ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS EVERYTHING, start paying attention. read more

I had two family members as patients of Dr. Woods. He does provide necessary service, but this review is about front desk staff. They are exceptionally rude! My husband was overseas and ran out of his meds. I simply was asking if he still has refills. So, the older lady just simply wanted to get rid of me and told me to call the pharmacy. and I know it takes much longer to go through my pharmacy then just simply reply yes or no on refills. After that they would answer my calls, their attitudes are not appropriate for professional behavior. Then she made me to have my husband (and he is overseas with all that time difference and difficulties to fax or email in a foreign country) to fax and email the necessary form, just to tell me that they cannot refill his meds. Seems like these people are trying to get rid of business, may be Dr. Woods is too busy to treat his patients in a nicer way. I am definitely taking both of my son and husband to a different doctor. And I agree the wait is very long, when you're there, there is no smiley faces you'll see, and they would give you very hard time with anything they can (refill, paperwork etc). Stay away from this business unless Dr. Woods changes his staff, he wont last long. read more

On the plus side they got me in with very little notice. But that came with a hefty price. I wanted to get a couple moles looked at and had two warts removed. I recently changed to not so great insurance and asked the front desk what my visit would cost out of pocket. Karen told me it would be between 65 and 145 out of pocket depending upon what was done on the office visit. She said if I need a biopsy or more in depth testing it would be more. Fair enough. I only had a couple moles looked at and warts frozen. My copay? 291.00 dollars! The appt. took a total of 15 minutes. I asked what happened to the 65 to 145 and Karen tells me that does not include anything other than office visit. Not at all what she told me in the beginning. That is why she quoted me a range In price, as she said depending on what was done. Mind you this is my portion God knows what they are charging the insurance company. What a scam!
