I like this place due to the staff !! Not just 1 but all staff are so pleasant & friendly ! Way to go on the hiring staff

Had a wonderful experience today thanks to Miss Chandler! She was so informative when I called asking about coupons I found on their website. She guided and described each offer and what they have to offer and customize for Your Perfect Tan. Also, I was solely interested In Spray tans. I am Done with the days of tanning beds. I will Lay out on vacation, beach or backyard for enjoyment but not gonna under go anymore unnecessary damage without enjoyment. Anyway, my tan worked out wonderful so far and bought a package of 3 for 45! Same price or cheaper than my Loving Tan purchase! Cheaper! Faster and more accurate! I am Used to getting the personal airbrush but I think this is my new regimen for summer! Thanks Chandler! read more

Pricing is very competitive if not less expensive and they always have sales. I never feel like they are trying to push a "sale" on me. Generally never have to wait for a bed w/out an appointment, and staff always have smiles on their faces. While you can't please everyone, I do believe management and staff work hard in making sure all customers have an enjoyable experience and tan. read more

As long time Olympia residents, currently living out of the US, we came back in to town for the holidays and needed two weeks of tanning before leaving the country for Mexico. We were sold on Desert Sun. Got to go twice then things fell apart. We understand snow came in and caused a problem. However, the arrogant attitude of the staff and poor communication magnified an already frustrating situation. We showed up to tan on the 26th. Closed. 27th. Closed (no signage). The 28th we called before coming. "Yep we're open". We showed at 6:15 and they were closed. What??? we called in earlier that day. They did not mention anything about closing early Called the next day (29th) and was told "oh yeah...we close at 6 now due to weather." Ok, fine but that would have been helpful yesterday when we drove 20 minutes each way to get there. Showed up at 5:33 that evening and were told by the woman there was no way to tan as they take their last tan at 5:30. I should note it was literally 5:33 and I pointed that out. "so sorry. Our last tan is at 5:30. Why? Tans are 10 minutes max and it was 5:303 I should note the woman had her jacket on, phone in hand and the apparently empty salon, could certainly have accommodated two tans. Hmmm....Ok. We went back on the 30th at 2:43 in the afternoon. It was sunny with blue skies, and yes there was snow on the road, but the place was closed. Why?? We gave up on Desert Sun and paid to go to Tan Republic across the road. It was classic to have him tell us we should have come there first. Yep. I agree. I have no issue with shortened hours or even being closed a day or two during the initial storm. However, there was ZERO communication on the door about a change in hours, nothing on social media, the people who answered the phone provided no heads up to changes. Honestly this is the 21st century. One does have the ability to manage a voicemail message remotely. You seriously couldn't make an effort to modify your voicemail or signage? To make matters worse, there was never an apology, an offer to extend our days or a refund. Very poor. I will be sure to share my experience everywhere....Bad service model and poor service. Lots of other places to go folks! UPDATE..manager responded by saying we should sign up for their email club. Really? Sign up for spam to get business hours? They missed the point. read more

I had previously purchased three spray tans from the Chehalis location. Apparently, since they have a Versa and the Lacey location has a Mystic, the sunless tans I bought in Chehalis can't be used in Lacey. Obviously, no one tells you this when you purchase them and their poor marketing doesn't help. "Sunless Tan" is an interchangeable term for both machines- if I'd have purchased three Versa tans, I wouldn't have had an issue. Since I was leaving for vacation, I chose to purchase two Mystic sessions. Surprise, the Mystic machine was broke and I was in a hurry, so the girl said she'd look at it and I came back later that night. The machine was kind of working- just enough to give me a crazy, blotchy tan. I mentioned to the girl at the desk that it still wasn't working right; she told me if it ended up blotchy, then to come back after my vacation and ask for a refund. Lo and behold, when I went in after getting back from my trip, the girl working called the manager (owner?) who stated that they didn't give refunds. Now I'm stuck filing a credit card dispute and will be filing a claim with the BBB. It's wrong to take someone's money and not provide the service they paid for. read more

After trying other salons in the area owned by different companies, this one was top notch. The girls working are always so friendly and make it seem like they've known you forever. The salons are clean and give an overall sense of "liveliness". Instead of trying to throw the most expensive package or lotion, they really take the time to compare and talk numbers as well as explain the reasoning behind which lotions they suggest. I love the Hawks Pairie Desert Sun! The prices can't be beat, and the beds are always maintained. Tan here with confidence! My personal favorite here is the individual airbrush tan. The color is amazing, if I haven't kept up on my tan I know I can go in for my airbrush and walk out with an instant golden glow!! read more

This place is horrible! Filthy and the lady at the front desk has no clue or training on spray tans. The spray booth is dark and smells bad, there is NO ventilation, so you will breath in the mist. She could not answer simple questions about what to expect, or give simple instructions on what to do once inside the spray booth. I decided to leave and go to the other location in Lacey off Yelm Highway, which was 100% better and clean. read more

Filthy spray tan room. Dust bunnies in the corners. Employees are rude and stuck up, call me "girl". And the spray tan machine was sticking and only half my body got sprayed. My whole mid section was not sprayed but the door got a nice sun kissed glow. I do NOT recommend this location to anyone read more

I have been coming here for years purchasing lotion, eye protections and different kinds of tans. I have met the owner who was so nice but some of the staff are so rude, ignorant and snotty. Today was the last stray. I bought a certain amount of fancy tans and went in to use my last one. The girl at the front desk was hiding on the phone behind the counter when I first came in. After checking me in she told me I had a red balance on my account, refused to let me tan and demanded money. I was in two days ago and paid up front for my tans months ago!! I asked for details because there have been errors on my account before. She then gets on the phone (which she never hung up during my check in) and talks to someone else while dissing the other nice employee I met a couple days ago. I cannot even describe how rude and disrespectful this girl was. I wouldn't of minded paying but I couldn't handle giving money to a business who would employ such a terrible snotty brat! I have met some dumb ones here and even some that took forever to check me in or couldn't find my account but this was too much! read more

The ladies at this location although helpful are nowhere near as hot as their other Lacey location *X-Roads*. Why the insistence on getting my fingerprint on file? If the police or my employers don't need them I don't think a tanning salon does. read more

I paid for a platinum package ... For that package you'd expect to get quality beds .. D do not BE FOOLED YALL .. The misters do not work and the aroma fragrances do not work ... And the 3 times I've been so far NO TOWELS 3rd time I brought my own .. Desert Suns have gone done hill with their quality .. Sad read more

I recently moved to Lacey and have been to this location a couple of times. I am not impressed. Each time I have went I've had to wait entirely too long before I was able to get a bed. Also on my last visit was given the basic bed when I have been paying for the premium for the past 6 months from a different location. The girl working refused to give me the upgraded bed (that I payed for!) and said she would have to call the main store in Olympia to verify it. At this point I had already been waiting too long because instead of getting me into a bed she continued to check in everyone else walking in and said she would get to me when she was done. I told her that I no longer wanted to tan and would not be coming back to this location. read more

This place is great! Not only have I tanned here since I was in high school but still continue to years later. They have a great NEW mystic (spray tan) machine that works wonders. Four different types of beds is great! Also, they are one of the few in the state of WA that has the Alpha bed, let me tell you if you haven't tried it yet you are missing out! From my and others experience, the employees and the manager work hard to sort out any issue the salon or a customer is having! Probably the best part of it all is they remember your name/face!!! I think the girls are super sweet. They know what they are talking about. I spent a good amount of money in there and they totally cut me a break on it, and lotions even with no specials going on. So I've had a membership here since last year of November, I went in a few days ago and wanted to try the diamond bed for one session, I asked an associate how much it was and she told me it was $30 dollars for just one session. Today I went in and asked again how much it would be and the Amelia told me it was $12. I think they need to do a better job in educating all associates about the price differences between members and non members. Big thanks to Amelia though. She showed me how to use the diamond bed, seemed like she new a lot about the products that they sold and thanks to her I'm at the tan that I've wanted to be at for a while. read more

This is the third Desert Sun location I've been too and I LOVE it. Depending on what you want it can get pricey, but tanning is a luxury item and we all get to pick how much we want to spend. I simply wait for promotions and you can buy things ahead of time. I met with Michelle the first time I went in and she was so helpful and knowledgeable without me even asking. She recognized my skin as very fair and recommended the best package for me (another location simply sold me a package and I burned in the bed every time I went in). She knew all about her products and was able to pick a couple for me to look at and smell. She sold me one that smells amazing and brought my attention to the fact that lotions do expire, which I had no clue. Her customer service was the best I've come across and I really can't thank her enough. They also are getting the red light therapy bed soon so I'm excited for that. read more

I like this place a lot. The monthly contract for the standard bed is inexpensive. For about $25 a month it's unlimited. If one only tans once a week it beats any salon that charges per tan. All the people who work there have been nice to me, so I don't get the rude remarks. I believe it's all on how one acts initially towards them. If they are rude, then maybe something in their life isn't going well. I realize it's their "job" to be nice. But when it comes down to it they don't make that much. Plus after talking to them on a personal level, they are some really mean and pretensious people that they have to deal with. It's a tanning salon and some customers are narsacisits. The thing that means the most to me is a few of the women remember my name. That is a sign of good customer service because it connects to one on a personal level. So if you do go in there, give them a compliment. The mask we all put up in social situations will be removed and you may just get a glimpse of the true person underneath. That applies everywhere, not just at a tanning salon. Peace. read more

This is the worst location! The computer is not working every time I come in to tan. I understand occasionally this can happen but the last 4 visits in a row is ridiculous. I feel sorry for the staff because they can't help you. I wish they still offered towels and I noticed the rooms don't have garbage cans. I finally just canceled my membership today. I do not recommend this location but I have a great experiences with the Lacey crossroads location. read more

You will have either one of two experiences here. First, not a very well trained staff, unable to articulate what they have to offer. Or, very snotty (even made faces at me) when I tried to find out what tanning process would be best for me although I made it very clear what I was trying to achieve. One thing you can expect each time is dirty floor (I actually had to walk over a pile of dirt the staff member was sweeping and left on the floor), beds will never be ready, you will always have to wait, and you will always have to ask for a towel. Lied to me about their cancellation policy. Told me I had to cancel through the site where I purchased the membership. What? Aren't all the same company? IF you go to the other salon on Avery Ln. you will have a totally opposite experience. Friendly staff, beds ready to go, floor is always swept. I go out of my way to go to the Avery location. read more
