Need to do a DOT physical for Work. Was sent here and told I cannot do appointment had to walk in. Walked in literally the moment they opened the door and still waited an hour and a half to be seen. Horrible service! I'm super sick and called yesterday requesting a phone appt. They scheduled me for 11:15 today. A staff member called and took my height and weight over the phone then placed me on hold and told me the PA is referring me to the urgent care. Never got to speak to a Dr and that was the end of the call. They could have very easily said that yesterday when I called. Quality of care in this office is shitty. I had a good experience here. New to the desert, I don't have insurance or a primary care doc. But some complications due to allergies needed immediate attention. The wait wasn't bad at all. I'd brought my iPod, ready for hours of waiting since my issue wasn't as urgent as wheezing or a broken bone. But they have a TV in the wait room, and I was in triage rather quickly. I liked Dr. Cyrus. He introduced himself, shook my hand, and sat down to listen to me, looking at me while I spoke. Not all docs do that, and it made a difference, especially since we only spent 30-45 seconds together. That was all it took. I told him my issue, and he said, "I'm going to give you med A and also med B," which was exactly as I'd hoped. (It's the treatment that helped me with these symptoms in the past.) Dr. Cyrus has been doing this for decades, so there was no need for much discussion. If he hadn't introduced himself and looked at me while I spoke, a short visit might make me feel slighted. But instead, I knew I had a confident, competent physician who could quickly resolve my issue without wasting anyone's time. Best of all, despite not having insurance, my visit wasn't as financially devastating as I'd feared. Urgent care is expensive, but it still wasn't as bad as it could have been. My Rx, however...that hurt my wallet. PS The Internet said they open at 9AM, but they are open at 7AM. read more

This is unfortunately my second time there. First time, the doctor didn't give me any kinda antibiotics but was ok. The customer service was awful both times. I waited on the phone to make an appointmentfor over 15 mins. The system said I was next in line. Then, it hung up on me too. Yesterday I went with a severe toothache. The receptionist said her computer was down so she couldn't take my insurance card. Then, she said I would need to call to get eligibility faxed to her. She said the extension she has was closed . Well so was the one I tried for Blue Shield...so I was sent home in pain. The last time I checked, that was illegal. On top of that... I had insurance and had been a patient. Desert Urgent Care - 17 mins on hold and then the phone system hung up - Urgent Care Near Me - Palm Desert, California

I wish I'd have seen the filtered reviews of this place before bringing my 11-year-old son here, because while they are negative, they're generally dead-on. Summing up, here were my problems with this urgent care facility: * The support staff (nurse who performed intake, xray technician) were young and seemingly unfamiliar with standard operating procedure. For example, the xray technician repeatedly asked which shoulder and wrist my son had injured and seemed unsure of how to stage the equipment. Also, I overheard the doctor chiding the tech for not doing the xrays in advance of the doctor's examination which resulted in everyone losing time in the process. The nurse doing intake couldn't remember details of the injury either, even during the 5 minutes it took to process the paperwork. * Everyone sped through the treatment process, I'm guessing because the facility was not taking patients after 4 pm (though it wasn't a holiday per se - December 30). I felt as if we were inconveniencing them for holding them up from their plans for the evening - staff checked their personal phones for texts frequently (even though we arrived at 3:30 and provided them with everything they needed quickly). * The doctor (Michael Mostyn) was ok in that he ordered the most urgent things that needed to be done (xrays of my son's injuries). The downside was that my son also had significant road rash that, later, my child's orthopedist was surprised wasn't cleaned, treated, or even looked at, given the potential for infection. * The facility identified one break in my son's wrist, but follow up with our orthopedist showed a break in the shoulder also that the facility failed to identify. * My biggest peeve - *absolutely no after care instructions*. My son had never been splinted or cast before, and at the end of his exam I expected to hear instructions on what needed to be done. Instead, we were left standing at the nurse's station waiting for instructions that never came. When I asked the doctor what we needed to do to protect his splint (can it get wet? or not?) and any activity restrictions, the doctor told me he was busy with another patient. That was it. I even had to ask the staff whether we were done - one looked up long enough from his Iphone to say "yes" and send us on our way - with nothing in hand but my co-pay receipt. The reason I chose this facility was because Eisenhower had a 3 1/2 hour wait and this was the next closest urgent care with a significantly shorter wait. I would not go back again, even with the time savings, nor would I recommend this place to anyone for care. read more

Back story: I went to the one in Indio first as a follow up due to a head injury I had at work 3 days ago. The lady at the front desk told me they were fully booked and I had to wait till next week for a follow up and I had to set up an appointment. Are you serious!? I was the only person in the waiting room to top it off. My company told me just to show up and they'll take care of me. And from what I remember a check up only takes a few seconds. They were just rude enough to deny help towards a patient. Instead of asking for a supervisor, I just drove all the way to desert urgent care in Palm Desert. After I told them I just needed a follow up they helped me right away. Great friendly staff at Palm Desert excellent service... I was born and raised in Indio but I doubt I'd be going back to this Oasis urgent care any time soon. At least train the front desk better. I had an appt and after waiting 1 hour (with a bunch of sick people coughing and sneezing on me) I finally got called back to see the doctor. Unfortunately the doctor did not want to see me because I am a 29 year old veteran and the government makes it too much work to see me. Then the doctor had the office manager come ask me to leave the appointment. I was so embarrassed and felt awful that after 11 years of military service this is how a civilian doctor years me. He didn't even say it to me face. Worst experience ever. I felt like it should be illegal but needless to say I didn't want to go back there anyway. If you are a veteran, find a different doctor! If you want a doctor with integrity, find another office! read more

One star is too many!!! "Dr." Dean James Scofield is the saddest excuse for a doctor I have ever encountered. I went in with eye irritation. He looked at my eye for literally less than five seconds and said "it could be pink eye, I'm just going to treat it like it is." "Well there must be some kind of test you could do, right?" I asked. He then starts rambling about smart phones, apps and DNA tests. He also tells me the prescription he's writing probably won't work, but it's okay because pink eye isn't that contagious. Oh, and the worst side effect it might have besides not working is making me blind. Maybe he has seen pink eye so many times he can diagnose it in 5 seconds. But he's got no excuse being terrible at communication and making it obvious he doesn't want to be there, not does he want me to be there. There were no other patients waiting in the waiting area, now I know why! The office staff here is rude. Just as another reviewer stated, no one at the front desk even greets you when you come in nor do they even look at you when you are speaking to them. The young girl working the front desk was nonchalant and rude as well as the others in the front office.The TV was blaring so loudly that I couldn't even hear what she was saying. My teenage daughter had been running a fever and her doctors office couldn't see her for 3 more days. Her insurance company said she could go to an urgent care and we just had to get a referral from her PCM within 24 hours of being seen.. When I took her in today to be seen at Desert Urgent Care, they refused to see her until they had the authorization in hand. While I was there, I called both the doctors office and the insurance company and they both said "that's not the protocol, they are supposed to see her ". The office staff stated, "that's not our policy". Not one staff member offered up an idea, like, lets see what we can do to help you, or why don't we call your insurance company, nothing! They all sat behind their window and stared at us. Done deal. We left. Unfortunately this is the only urgent care in the desert contracted with Tricare. I hope we never have to use an urgent care again as I never want to give Desert Urgent care my business! I've always come to Desert Urgent Care for myself and my daughter when needed. I'm always seen within a reasonable wait time, the doctors and nurses are always courteous and friendly. They actually make me feel like they care about what is going on. What a bummer that all of these reviewers had such a horrible time. Most people go to Yelp to complain (within their rights) rather than remember to provide good feedback and compliment a business. read more

Only giving this a 2 star because today was the first day out of the 6 times I have been here for the same thing, which is back pain, they seemed to care a little more. They usually never seem to care and always rush you depending on the doctor. My 10yr old son broke his arm today and was in incredible pain. We called on the way to let them know we were coming.,they took him in immediately which was so much appreciated. They took x-rays and made him a splint with a sling until he sees his main dr. They were so fast and took such great care with him. I was an industrial injury from JFK hospital and was referred there. The MD Cyrus was a complete horses ass. Unprofessional in all aspects of medicine. I pulled a muscle in my low back and it turned out to be L-4 L-5 disk nerve root damage. He ordered a flat plate x-ray...wrong treatment..that will only show structure, not connective tissue of disk injuries. After reading it...Dx me as having scolosis ...wrong again, . It took 4 weeks to get cleared for aMRI...standard care. I would not take my dog to this guy ..beware.. By the By ..I spent the last 25 years in the cardiac cath lab...know a litle more then the quack about radiology. read more

Walked in the receptionist said that the computers were down to verify his insurance would cover the urgent care and we could come back later. The staff is simply awful. You have to spend hours on the phone triple checking to get the staff to do their jobs with insurance and pharmacies. God help me if I were in dire need of a life dependent medication- I would die before they did their jobs! Awful staff- Worst wait times... At least an hour and a half every time. If you need a referral you are going to have to basically do their jobs for them and still it will get screwed up at least a few times and several days or weeks later they may have it done. No staff listens to your actual issue.. Also when you call you are put on hold for VERY long wait times. Like- 30 mins or more. Sucky staff. read more

I went here today with my husband and son. The three of us got sick at the same time. They had a full waiting room when we got there but we were still in n out in an hour. I tried this Urgent Care as the one i was used to in Palm Springs, does not take my insurance anymore. I was enchanted by everybody's kindness, at the reception, the doctor himself, the staff, everybody was very nice and seemed relaxed, not under stress, as it is the case in many other Urgent Cares. It was a wonderful and unexpected experience. I came in to get a booster shot for school, so the lady at the front desk charged me for the cost of the vaccine. Then I waited for over an hour just for the front desk staff to realize and tell me "we have to charge you the cost of the vaccine AND for the doctor's visit." To which I replied no, it's cheaper at CVS then. But what I don't understand is why they couldn't have told me this in the first place, why did they make me wait over an hour before they told me? It seems like a pretty basic thing to tell someone. There was only one other person ahead of me, it was pretty empty there which makes this even more disappointing. The medical assistants at this place need to learn how to do their jobs. However, Dr. Mostyn who I saw on a separate occasion is very friendly, thorough, and helpful when I had to get my health clearance for school in order. read more

Nobody is perfect and thank God for Desert Urgent Care! They took care of my daughter in my time of need and I am forever great full. I did wait for about 30 minutes before I was seen but, that was understandable due to the high amount of patients that were waiting to be seen. The receptionist where very nice and understanding even though they were very busy they kept there cool. The PA that saw us was very knowledgeable and understanding. He took his time with us and explained everything to us. I highly recommend this Desert Urgent Care.! read more

I come here for my kids. Both of my boys are always well received and treated by very nice doctors. Staff is friendly and nurses too. Having sick kids is not fun but this place is very helpful. Unfortunately they no longer take out insurance... maybe I'll switch insurance providers. read more

NO IV BAGS?! While on vacation I took my 9 year old daughter in. She was vomiting over 10 hours every twenty min. Knowing this they took our insurance and our money, admitted her, gave her a shot for nausea and then said sorry that's all we can do, we don't have IV Fluids... Really!?BTW, you're located in the DESERT! Very negligent! They should have sent us to the ER down the street so we could rehydrate her. read more

Front office staff is understaffed so they rush through everything. I had one doc there Dr. Mostyn, that was rude to not only myself as the patient, but to my mother as well. I have been there 3 times and am yet to see my primary care doc. This may be a place to go for urgent care, but I would highly recommend you find another source for your PCP needs. read more

I had a great experience here today. I called first, and while I did get cut off, the gal was very nice. When I arrived, there were 5 others in the waiting room, but the staff was polite and professional, and I was in and out with a refilled prescription in less than 45 minutes. I came down sick at work on Friday, drove home, then had my father drive me here I was so sick. After paying $125.00 to see a Dr, and was told I had a temp of 102 by the nurse, the Dr comes in and asks me if I have a fever? What? then after telling me I have the flu, writes me two prescriptions and sends me on my way. The one prescription was available no where within a 10 mile radius, and the cough medicine prescription was obsolete, in other words, it was a discontinued medicine!, They said I had to come back the next day to pick up a new prescription! In other words, we wont call it in for you, and you have to come here yourself (while infecting others with the flu), and wait to pick up another prescription. Not going back. Dr. was not qualified to see me and or to write a prescription, His job was to help make me feel more comfortable and make me better, not worse. read more

Please don't ever use this urgent care. I experienced both unsafe medical practices and horrific customer service. Below is an excerpt from the complaint I filed with the Better Business Bureau: My 8 year old daughter was seen as a patient on 7/30 and diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Being a nurse practitioner, I am aware of the standard of care and know this was not followed. 1. . There were no follow up instructions in how to contact them, what to do for any worsening, etc. This should have been my first red flag. 2. I was told a urine sample was sent to a lab for further testing. I never received a call with results. On 8/3 I called to inquire about this and was transferred to a generic voice mail box where I left a message and never received a return call. I called again on 8/6, and after 4 calls, being on hold an average of 25 min per call, I finally spoke with a receptionist, Patty, who read the chart and told me the culture was never sent. The charting claimed that I was given an order to take my daughter to an outside lab for further testing which was not the case. Not only was I failed to be contacted about this, they LIED in their charting that appropriate follow up was completed 3. I then asked to speak with the medical director (his name is DR. ISA OVERRA) to inform him of this incompetence. After 25 min on hold, I finally had to hang up. I have yet to receive any further contact. So not only does this confound my daughter's follow up needs, I believe this unsafe medical practice and documenting lies in their medical records puts other patient's health in jeopardy. In addition, the fact that no one answers their phones, calls are put on hold for 20 min at a time, and multiple automated prompts transfer the caller to unmanned voice mail boxes means they don't care about their customer. Of utmost importance, a medical director who fails to take a call regarding a patient's complaint of unsafe care shows me he doesn't care what kind of medical services his employees are providing. Take the two stars for what they mean: better go elsewhere. They made it very difficult for my wife to get a simple letter, after her physical exam, stating she is allergic to flu shots. She needs that letter for her employment. So far, nothing but trouble and very little concern for the problems they are causing her. They refuse to give her the letter. Last year, she got such a letter without any problem from the urgent care facility on Hwy 111 in Indian Welles. Give yourself or your family a break and do not come to this facility. Go to the Indian Welles one instead. These people are unhelpful and totally unconcerned. read more

I went twice,once to try and get a prescription for my eye infection and the other to get a note explaining that my is clear. it's only clear thanks to my regular doctor calling in an ointment after a phone call explaining the problem.
