But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. Pierre Hermé is home to some of the best macarons I've had in my life -- which is probably too many for the good of my health -- and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the macarons, the staff's attention to detail, and all the unique flavors this shop had to offer. As a popular macaron shop in one of the hottest tourist destinations in Paris, this location is undeniably crowded. There's usually a huge line circling around a central display of macaron after macaron. The line looks pretty intimidating, but it moves quite quickly, and there are so many flavors that it'll probably be helpful to have a bit of extra time to review the menu. My friend and I split a pack of four macarons, including their seasonal isapahan (rose, lychee, raspberry), infiniment praliné pistache, and a jardin de cassandre (red currant, rhubarb). The macarons were delightful. I loved the two seasonal items; they were delightfully fruity and slightly floral, and I loved the slightly tangy flavor from the raspberry in the isapahan and rhubarb / currants in the jardin de cassandre. The praliné pistache was nice and nutty, and the inner cream offered a great additional richness. It's usually super crowded so seating tends to be quite limited. My friend and I ended up taking our macarons to go and enjoyed them elsewhere as we toured Champs Elysée.

I was very worried about the lime being extremely long due to the time we came at. But when we arrived we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. The service does a great job managing the line and trying to pull groups out of line to fit specific spots available if they can. The manager asked if there were any groups of three available and luckily we were able to get a table quicker than we thought! We were seated outside at a very small table. The tables are very close together and it is extremely hard to move around the chairs, etc. the interior is a little less tight, but nonetheless it is still a little chaotic to go about. Service was good and our food came out within about 10-15 minutes of ordering. I loved the classic Parisian atmosphere and really enjoyed being outside. We ended up ordering their famous hot chocolate and creme, the strawberries & creme, coffees, and a croissant. The prices here are a little steep considering what you are getting. But I definitely think it's an experience and the price reflects that. The hot chocolate was extremely rich and luscious--like nothing I've had before. It was almost reminiscent is drinking straight chocolate sauce. The fresh creme that accompanied it was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried one of my friends strawberries and thought they were extremely fresh, but not necessarily worth the price. Cappuccino was pretty standard, but I enjoyed it. The croissant probably isn't the best in the city, but it was flaky and buttery, with lots of layers (exactly how it should be). Overall, I was happy I got to experience dining at Carette! We only waited about 30 minutes for a table and I think it was worth it. While I don't think it is life changing, I do think it is definitely worth trying and a fun experience. I enjoyed the creme that it came with just as much as the drink itself, if not more. Service was good and they ran a tight ship. We ordered a bunch of stuffs to try including baguette, plie de chocolat, pistachio chocolat pain russe, eclair chocolat and a panini. All are delightful. Chocolat eclair has both chocolate cream and pastry cream it was epic... Our latte/americano were delicious. Their baguette wins a competition in 2012 and was very yummy too. They have some seating inside in the back.
