Just perfect. I have tried many Indian restaurants in recent months and found varying quality. This one was perfect for what it is. The sauces had just enough spice for me and everything from the naan to the chicken was prepared very well. I ordered the special Thali which I don't even think is on the menu. Someone at another table had it and I just pointed to his meal when ordering because it looked so good. I think it had lamb, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, rice, naan, yogurt sauce and samosa. I couldn't finish it all, but I really wanted to! Paired with Tiger beer, perfection. I can't wait to come back. Fast service, too which was very helpful. read more

Food is pretty tasty, prices are decent, service is atrociously slow, decor is lacking but nice. Overall this place is OK for a quick bite.

We go for their Saturday buffet and are rarely disappointed. If we have a complaint they make it right immediately for us. We love this place. read more

We had a snack here - the desi dhaba appetizer platter, papadum, and the chutney collection. The papadum were good. The rest was terrible. The fish sticks and chicken nuggets really didn't seem like Indian food at all. read more

I know driving was a little bit slow on the roads because of the snow - but 4 hours from when we ordered? And after 2 hours, I called every half hour, and they always said just another 20 minutes and the driver would be there. And then they didn't even get our order correct. read more

I've gone there for dinner, also delivery. Excellent, very polite service, as is their delivery person. I like the garlic nan, also their mix paraatha, whole wheat bread stuffed with veggies. My favorite dish so far is their Aloo Gobhi, cauliflower with potatoes. I've tried their Navrattan Makhani, veggies sauteed with garlic and ginger, also, and I like that as well. Their raita is very good; that's the yogurt condiment, as well as the mixed pickle (I think that's what they give you with the meal). I find that what makes the food tasty is mixing a couple of entrees together, then adding the basmati rice, with the raita and the pickle. I might next order a chutney condiment and mix that in, as well. I find it adds lots of differnt flavors to the meal. I have always loved the food here. Today I ran into the lunch buffet it was very good. They had my favorite dish the sahi pander ( the one with the small chuncks of cheese) in a very special sauce.It was so good! Cheap too 8.50 with drink. read more

It could be worse, but they're definitely lacking. The food that we got was fine but the service was embarrassing. I've had a fine experience with takeout and times when they're business is slow but they don't seem to handle things well when busy. -Our server seemed to have a hard time paying attention to the order. (OK, maybe it was a long day) -The server forgot to place an order for one out of four people, despite having them repeat the order. -One of two naan orders did not come but was still included on the bill (though they did correct this when asked). -The water glasses on the table spent 15-20 minutes empty at the beginning and middle of the meal. -There was unidentified junk floating around in one of the water glasses. -The server placed food on our table, walked away briefly, then picked the food back up and placed it on our neighbors table. -The server grabbed the lip of the water glasses when moving them out of the way to reach for plates. (No worse that floaters in the water, but still poor etiquette.) -One of the dishes did not match the menu description, though the server said the right name when placing it on the table. (It did have vegetables but was not spicy, was not tomato based, and did not have paneer. That being said, it did at least taste fine.) -The staff was pretty passive aggressively forceful in getting us out the door at the end of the meal. (I would be less frustrated had they not delayed the meal in the first place by forgetting one person's dinner order and had they not served other tables that arrived after we placed our order before serving us.) -The take out bags covered in something sticky/oily. -They brought one takeout container for the table of four people. (I'm generally happy to mix several dishes together and reduce container waste but don't want to have to negotiate joint custody of containers with fellow diners that I don't also live with). read more

As far as Harvard Sq/Central Sq Indian food is concerned, this place is pretty good (low bar). As with every other Indian place, the buffet kind of sucks, but that's normal. At dinner time, some of the stuff can be quite good, though it's a bit up and down. Usually more up than down, and even on its less than stellar nights, the food is never bad, just lackluster. A lot of the non-veg stuff (standard chicken and lamb dishes) is pretty good; and the baingan and chili paneer are usually quite nice. Compared to what Indian food can be, this is only about 3 stars, but if you live in Cambridge and don't want to have to traipse out to Lowell or spend a fortune, it's 4 stars. I don't know about the food--the food may be great but I'm never going into this place because I walk by daily, and they don't have the consideration for their neighborhood to keep the sidewalk clean. More specifically, their trash barrels leak all over leaving a slime along an area of very busy foot traffic. If they can't be bothered to keep the neighborhood clean, I don't have faith that they care about the sanity of the food either. read more

i got delivery from desi dhaba mostly b/c campus food will bring them to me for free. i was trying to branch out on the indian places i try and i was pretty pleased. the onion naan is excellent, as are the veggie samosas. i would definitely recommend it, although it's a bit more expensive than some other indian joints in the area. read more

I had a very bad experience with desi dhaba...It lacks the taste of authentic desi food. I visited this place with my wife and son. We were served soup and then had to wait for about 40 minutes for our veg thalis. Aloo gobi appeared to be stale and mutter paneer had no salt at all. We had chosen "dinner for two" option (veg thalis) for $29 but there was only one naan served for two people. when i asked for more naan, i was told that there would be extra charge for that. I ordered extra naan and waited for another 25 mins but we were not served naan so i called up the waiter to cancel the order for the naan as we were done with our dinner, but waiter tells me that it's already prepared and he couldn't cancel the order for naan. I was shocked when we were not served the naan for another 10 mins. I have visited many restaurants but the Desi dhaba has been the worst. I'll never go to this place even if someone offers to pay the bill. Overall bill of $34 for two people for tasteless food...so not worth it. read more
