    Special Curry Platter
    Shirlane C.

Punjabi Dhaba is a no-frills cafeteria style Indian place in the heart of Inman Square. There are a lot of options on the menu that are very affordable for the amount of food they give you. I got the special curry platter that came with chicken curry, naan, samosa and a nice chutney/yogurt sauce. The food was well seasoned and the naan was delicious. The chicken curry was well made but a bit too watery for my liking. The samosa was a bit doughy was the inside filling made up for it. I also got the gulab jamun and did not really like it as it was served cold. There are cups and water stations on both the first and second floor. Service is speedy and curt, nothing to write home about.

Got a feast! $80 for 5 ppl. The place is very small and slightly cramped but they have more seats upstairs in a casual setting with windows looking out on the street Food was ready quickly! And it all smelled and tasted so good I liked the saag and chicken tikka the most! We also tried the chai and mango lassi, both decent The garlic naan was also pretty good. Overall great food for the price

Vegetable Platter Lamb Vindaloo and Nan

This is one of those places that you think is going to be really great because it is counter service with those hole in the wall vibes and is cash-only. However, I found it to be just okay. You do get a solid amount of food for the price, but I didn't think the quality was anything special. I had the Lamb Vindaloo and the lamb wasn't especially tender, which was a disappointment to me. The gravy itself had a nice flavor, but wasn't unique in any way. I did appreciate that the plate came with both rice and naan, so it was filling. Don't think I'd bother to come back, since I've had better Indian in the area.

Overall I would definitely recommend this place. It genuinely does have authentic Punjabi food, so don't get the stuff that isn't (aka the coconut chicken). Unfortunately when I went my food was a bit cold, BUT it was tasty so I still think it was good. I will still definitely try again here because I just know they're good just not that much when I went.

Oh wow I never wrote a review for this place? It's probably the more authentic Indian restaurants in the area. However, it's not ideal for dining in because the upstairs area gets very busy. I'd highly recommend taking out. Parking is always a pain for this area, so better walk/public transportation if you live close by.

We visited the restaurant in a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised by the various options on the menu. We had the Punjab chole poori and it was great. The chickpea curry was flavorful. And the fried bread was delicious too, especially side inside. The chutney on the side was a highlight -- you can tell it's home made rather than store bought. The yogurt chutney was flavorful as well. In general we liked the homey flavor and quick service of this place. Next time I would like to come back and try their other dishes too.

It was my to go to place in Boston. I went back to Boston for work and tried here again. It is still a good place but it used to be so much better. I still love the garlic naan and the tandoori roti. Ask some butter for your roti...so good!! I got a standard tikka masala and chilli chicken. Both were mehhh!! I have no many memories with this place and I want to come back again, please keep the standards!!

That being said, the place was packed after 7 so consider what time you're coming when trying to walk in without a reservation. The entrance is up the stairs and as soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted with a great view of Winthrop Park and the surrounding area. We were promptly seated and the lively wait staff came and took our drink order shortly thereafter. We started with the complimentary papadum and chutneys and our appetizer order of hara bhara kebab which was a nice vegetarian fritter. For our entrees, we got the baingan bhartan, chicken tikka masala (dairy free one), yellow daal tadka, tandoori roti, onion kulcha, and paneera bharura. The breads were all fantastic and I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala (dairy free made with coconut milk) just to see how it was different from a standard chicken tikka masala. For dessert, we got the gajar halwa (which was awesome!) and kulfi. Overall, I'm glad to have finally tried this place and may revisit it again in the future. Worth considering if you're in the area.

Our server was incredibly attentive and would always make sure to follow up and that everything is good. There was a plate that we had that had a stain on it. Our server noticed immediately and swapped out the plate without us having to tell him. He refilled our waters as soon as he saw that our glasses were empty. Compared to the first time that I was here, I think the service remains excellent and unchanged. The quality of the food was amazing. Overall, the dishes were delicious. I enjoy the blend of spices and flavors that you could taste within the food. In terms of food quality, this is easily becoming my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston. I appreciate the restaurant location and internal setup. The restaurant is nestled near Harvard Square on the second floor with a nice view to the local neighborhood around Cambridge. There were many tables by the window so customers could enjoy the ambience. Overall, would recommend. If I find myself returning to Boston, I will definitely make time to stop by again.

I ordered the chana masala, veggie samosa, and a Taj Mahal beer. These are my usual go to items, and all of them delivered. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect. Just enough heat that I was sweating a little, but still going back for more. Very good balance and flavor. The menu has plenty of options and covers both Indian and Nepalese dishes, which makes it easy to come back and try different things. Food quality felt strong across the board. Service was quick and friendly. Inside, there is plenty of seating and a comfortable, casual setup. They had pleasant, modern Indian music playing, which added to the atmosphere. It is right on Broadway in Teele Square, so easy to get to. The only minor downside was some loud chatter between staff, which could be a little distracting at times. Overall, this is a reliable neighborhood spot with very good food and solid service. Based on this visit, I am comfortable rounding up to a five star review. I will be back.
