Delicious South Asian cuisine, all homemade with traditional ingredients. Very friendly service and wonderful food. Don't miss this one.

It's basically a stir fry with a steamed bun--simple food, but they did a good rendition. The stir fry is not unlike other stir fries I've had, except with a heavier cut of beef (the brisket is predictably grainy, but still tender). But the bun tasted freshly steamed to order and had a perfect texture and flavor both on its own and for supporting the sauces.

So this time, we were determined and we got there at 7:30. Restaurant open. Mission accomplished. Dishes ordered. Sauces sampled - the white (mint?) sauce is not in my milieu, but I can vouch the hot sauce is, in fact, Tibetan hot. A plus when visiting a Tibetan restaurant. I applied sparingly. From the small and simple menu we started with chicken and veggie momo, similar to Chinese dumplings but the fillings are not like in a Chinese restaurant. Veggie momos are crunchy, while chicken is chewy because it's all minced together. Nice and full, a great start. One friend ordered a fried dumpling entree and another ordered them as an appetizer - plaudits all around for those (beef, I believe), similar to an empanada (as I think others have written). Three of us got shapta-tingmo - all beef - and those arrived a bit after the other meals. So it's definitely made to order, and you can smell and hear as things sizzle in the kitchen. The tingmo bread is fluffy but flavorless. I'm not 100% sure, without looking it up, what to do with the tingmo bread, so I made sandwiches, cutting open each slice into a pocket and stuffing it with beef, peppers, and onions, then saucing to taste and munching my way through dinner that way. (I looked it up and that seems about right, since shapta doesn't really have sauce to it. If it was more of a soup, then dipping the bread would be obvious.) Anyway, as you'll see from my photos, this is otherwise an interesting place. It's got a few tables for eating, and the hosts were generous in pushing them together for 5 people and keeping us well past closing. I walked around the display area, which may have also been a store but I did not see any prices, to see some of the Tibetan-made artifacts on hand. You can see some in my photos as well. :) All in all, I think I need to come back and try their soup to get a full picture and decide on stars. Normally I would go to 4 stars in such a case and allow for a future 5, but with this being a hard-to-find local restaurant in a town that has few good choices, I want to increase awareness so more people turn off Main Street (Route 52) just east of downtown and head to the back of the laundromat. I'll be back.
