The Wherehouse turned out to be everything we didn't know we needed- truly the kind of accidental gem that makes the night. Halloween night at that. We'd been striking out, one call after another, as every spot in our town decided to close up early that night. So landing a last-minute res. at this tiny, offbeat bar-restaurant in Newburgh, NY felt like a win. We just wanted a few bites+drinks before heading to Briarcliff Manor for a Halloween party and ended up finding way more than that. Unbeknownst to us, The Dylan Doyle Band played that night and man...was he good. The kid uses funk, rock, blues, R&B in his mix. Plus he sang his own renditions of D'Angelo- to honor him that night, Chaka and several others. I mean...he absolutely blew us away! But imagine this: it's got the vibe of Tarantino's From Dusk Till Dawn bar feel, minus the vampires and gore. This place is welcoming, unpretentious, serves decent bar food and has an excellent vegan menu that goes wayyyy beyond the usual portobello burger. Carnivores are covered too. Drinks are ok too. But do let them know light on the ice. We got music- a live band at that, decent food and had a fantastic time. This is Wherehouse.

Chris behind the bar remembered me from the only one time he's served me - handed me a vegetarian menu as soon as I sat down. I have never had one menu item that I didn't absolutely LOVE. I could eat here every day of my life. As a vegetarian, they have THAT many options to choose from! Bathrooms are clean, bar is cozy, lots of friendly locals.

Went on a first date here in 2023 ago and just married him! The food and ambiance at The Wherehouse are fun, conducive of good conversation, and make you feel like you know everyone! We make a point of stopping by and reliving our first date on a regular basis. You can't go wrong with the burgers and the cuisine feels very elevated for the type of establishment. Love the staff too!

Mac and cheese is serious business. I had the Philly mac and friend had one of the burgers.

Sooooo many options! Love that the had a huge menu with so many great options, and a whole separate menu for vegetarians and vegans with just as many options. They have some creative veggie dishes. We ordered the barnyard blast burger and a vegan BLT. Food came out fast and was tasty. Servers were friendly and helpful. It's small inside but had quite a few tables. Cozy and eclectic. Wish this was closer to us. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is that they brought me a glass to pour my beer into, and it still had lipstick on it from someone else.

Yall ever have that type of spot that makes you feel like you could relocate to whatever city it's in? Welp, Wherehouse was that for me this weekend. My friend and Newburgh native and I were catching dinner after a day at the lake. We usually keep it simple - burgers, beer, and wings for our post-fun eats and she was excited to take me here. "This will be our kind of vibe," she said. As soon as I walked in I knew she was right. Moody lighting, nice range of drafts (no sours though, booooo), great kitsch and artwork on the walls. Laid back and local. I ate good at the lake so kept it on the lighter side for late dinner. Here's our roundup: Korean garlic wings Portuguese calamari Brisket potato skins Mexican street corn The wings were legit - juicy, a little kick on the tongue. And the corn made a nice road snack back to NJ (mind your business). My friend enjoyed her 2 dishes and beer and I snagged a yummy bourbon cocktail with my wings and corn. Service was solid and personable. Def a spot where if you come enough you'll have a fave server. Oh and for my big friends, the seats are solid wood. And we love that!

This may well be the best place to get a burger. It is a dive, but that is what makes this place so awesome. Everywhere you look, there is something way cool to see. The burger is beyond good. The bun compliments the burger well. The fries need to be a bit crispier, but then I didn't come here for the fries. And this place has a HUGE beer selection from many local breweries.

Ambience is dive bar, service is just ok, food - other than a great burger - was meh. There are so many other places around with better food and service.

Good food, large portions, friendly wait staff - couldn't have been happier! Stopped by here for lunch after spending the day at stormking - we came in ravenous and the place did not disappoint. We got the buffalo mac n cheese, poutine, pulled pork sandwich and the chilli digs and everything was delicious.

Great burger, great appetizers and a slew of fantastic drinks. There seem to be more staff and folks tending the bar that I seem to remember over the last couple of years but there's nothing wrong with that. For the locals the wherehouse is definitely a comfortable place to go, a great place to hang out on the weekends especially in the summer. Tons of parking around the area and lots of other little things to go and see as well on Liberty street. But with the live music and the good food you can spend a couple hours here without a problem.

Had a kickass time here for drinks w the pals a few weeks back. It was crowded but in a good way- everyone was having a great time and it felt like a chill and friendly atmosphere. We only stopped in for drinks but I checked the menu out after I went home and the selection plus the vegetarian menu.. I will be back to try out the eats. Artsy decor and the bathroom was dope Alice in wonderland theme! Affordable beverages and from the smells coming from the kitchen, idk what the good prices are (which are affordable as well) bc I'll be back!

    Nicole F.

Stopped in while visiting the area to grab some drinks. Although it took a bit to have our drinks delivered, our server was extremely friendly. Very cool, artsy scene. They have a few tables setup outside. I'd definitely like to come back and try some food. The menu is quite extensive!!

Always a wide variety of beers, the brown ale is my husband's fave while I tend to go for one of their ciders. Yesterday, there to watch the Premier League opener, I opted for a Gin & Tonic. Whoa, legit was probably the best G&T I've had a a bar in ages! They use a local gin from Warwick too. So if you're just going for drinks and a game/match you're in very good hands. But don't overlook their food offerings. The menu has been dependable (smash burger never fails) but they've added some new items and they are really super. The Birria tacos are a new item and are served in blue corn tortillas. Delicious. Poutine is absolutely yummy with savory gravy topped w fresh green onion. Even the chips & guacamole are stepped up w terrific double crunchy chips. The space is gorgeous, wide open and bright with high ceilings, wide tables and benches. So you never get that feeling that you've entered a black hole time warp on a lovely day. The real cherry on top of the place is the staff and vibe. Greeted kindly by every staff member with easy conversation about the game or what's on offer. It's a welcoming place for sure with an ace in the hole of how it strives to craft community first. So all this, along with quality food & drink? It's class. Well done Newburgh Brewery! Looking forward to our next visit!

The bistro has a cute exterior offering a few outdoor seats and a minimal but stylish interior and is perfect if you want to stay and chill or get your food to go. This isn't Subway so the sandwiches are priced above $10, but considering the quality and quantity (and maybe because I'm just acclimated to paying ridiculous prices in the City) you definitely get your money's worth. I heartily enjoyed the sliced hanger steak sandwich and found the mix of horseradish mayo, sautéed mushrooms, and arugula on a toasted ciabatta to be perfection. I also tried the fried chicken sandwich which was well seasoned and made all that much better with the sriracha mayo and pickles! I will be back for certain to explore the rest of the sandwich and salad options, especially the capers and oyster mushroom sandwiches and roasted beet and goat cheese salads. They also offer baked goods from Newburgh Flower Shop down the block as well as a variety of coffee and tea drinks. If you get pickup, call the restaurant directly because the prices through Doordash are higher to compensate for the fees the restaurant has to pay. Good to have Toasted on the Liberty Street scene!

The bread was sturdy and crusty and crunchy on the outside. The oyster mushrooms were accompanied with a lovely spicy aioli and pickles. Even though it may a cost a little more than a sandwich from a national chain, the food is made with lots of care with fresh ingredients and the portion is enough for two lunches (at least for me). It was a little messy so I was glad I was outside to enjoy it. It's a small space inside (perhaps 5 square table for 2 each) and it's almost kitty corner to my favorite shop, Oliver & Chatfield. Since it's a little further down on Liberty street, you'll find plenty of street parking.

I'm not sure if it was the night before a big snow storm or because this place is still new but there were 2 people (one cook and one bartender) on staff for about 50 customers. I came with a party of 7, we ordered our food and drinks at around 7:15ish. It took a while for us to all get our drinks but they were amazing!! I had the tamarind margarita, it was the perfect balance of sweet and sour. I couldn't taste the alcohol but then again, I also didn't feel it. My friend had the amaretto sour and thought it was the best she's ever had. Two of us got our food at 8:30 while the rest of the party got their food past 9. They definitely check IDs (for the youngins). I saw some girls waiting outside because they didn't have proper IDs and couldn't get in. It was $20 to enter. Not too bad considering there was an artist performing. They patted us down very thoroughly both males and females. Then we went straight to the bar. This also didn't take long to get a drink. It took about 5-6 minutes. I ordered a Don Julio with cranberry. I just wanted something quick. It cost $20 for a double. I think that's pretty crazy but I feel like all bars charge crazy prices for drinks. I would advise pregaming. The bar was definitely packed. There was no table of chair that wasn't filled and the dance floor was full of people. The music selection was great. Mainly rap and R&B, new and throwbacks. There are LED screens everywhere that really give the appearance of an upscale club. The bathrooms are pretty clean and accessible. The people are friendly and good vibes. I didn't try any food because I got there around 12 am, but I will be going back to try. The security guards do their job well and yes they told my boyfriend and I to move away from the hookah door by asking us "Are you buying hookah? If not move away from the door." Like excuse me sir, you could've said it a little nicely. But it didn't ruin the vibe. When Lola finally came everyone crowded up by the stage and she did her thing.
