I was pleasantly WOWED by Ms Fairfax and I'm so happy Yelp helped me discover this place and I got to enjoy the best takeout at the airport! I was craving something hearty and healthy so naturally, I went for the pearly bowl which originally comes with couscous, roasted cauliflower, golden raisins (trust me these add THEEEE touch), pickled red onions (YUM), tahini sauce, avocado, and a lemon-mint vinaigrette - THISSSSSS. I ended up substituting the couscous for quinoa which was perfect for the type of meal I wanted before traveling. Can we talk about that lemon-mint vinaigrette? It's perfectly green and brings the whole bowl together, SO GOOD. Wish I would've gotten a whole side of that. Ordering delivery through Yelp is so easy thanks to DoorDash and I was so thankful I didn't have to be stuck eating chips and m&ms - love these but I needed a little something more. I have been hearing & hearing & hearing about this place! I finally got to dine in on a friday evening. I will most definitely be checking this restaurant out more often! Street parking available, as well as a municipal lot around the corner. Near a historic site to check out as well, Washington Headquarters. Greeted as I walked in, asked if I had reservations (which I didn't), I was shown the tables available inside & was told I could sit in the back area as well. They also have a cute table in the front outside as well. I sat in the backyard while I waited for my friend to arrive. The establishment has a chill summer vibe. All the staff were friendly & attentive. The special was the red snapper & OMG, they need to just put it on the menu! It was delicious, fried to perfection & had alot of meat. I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant. First off we were greeted by the most warm and welcoming server. She was taking care of the entire restaurant and didn't miss a beat. The food is fantastic. The chicken and waffles is the way I like them, with tenders not bone in (controversial, I know). But I swear, that may have been the best tender I've ever had. Kiwi lemonade was great. But the steak from steak and frites meal, I could tell it was frozen and had too much fat. I would come back to try other things but unfortunately, one server(one was nice) but the other bothered me while I was in the bathroom after I paid and left a good tip. We decided to try Ms. Fairfax for brunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was very charming and set in a beautiful townhouse building. We all ordered from the breakfast menu. I highly recommend the pancakes with blueberries and the French toast with strawberry compote, both served with maple butter and pure maple syrup. The food was fantastic and the service was great! We found this quaint little restaurant on yelp while we were traveling through Newburgh. 4-1/2 Stars does not do it justice. It should be a 5 star plus!! Our server Catalina was so sweet! She recommended the Brisket Hash to my husband and I had the Fairfax breakfast both meals were DELICIOUS! The place is so cute and VERY CLEAN. Had Breakfast today at Ms. Fairfax on Liberty Street in Newburgh. It was a nice setting. Quiet on a Saturday morning. We had the Breakfast Burrito which was very good. I highly recommend it. The didn't have spinach that day, but it was still very good. We also had the French Toast which was good. It had a little too much cinnamon, but good. I love the ambiance of this place! It looks like a spot I would find in dumbo, Brooklyn. From the outside you don't know what to expect but then you walk in and you this amazing, hip, and romantically styled restaurant! From the looks of it you would think this is the perfect date night spot! Now to the food, unfortunately, it was lack luster. It is way over priced,$15 for my French Toast and $7 for the crepe. I honestly could not believe how much the food lacked flavor. I mean $15 for French Toast is not bad when it's quality bread and there is a large amount. They literally used two slices of bread and it was nothing special. I would try this place again for dinner maybe it would be better and brunch just isn't there speciality. I did not know they had happy hour from 4-6 on certain days, but was pleasantly surprised and we got there in time to take advantage of the deal. We got the fried calamari to start. Rhe batter was well seasoned and the calamari very tender... not chewy. The dishes ordered we The Leatherman, Big Bowl.of Pasta with sausage and the Seared Salmon. Every dish was put together very well and had interesting but well matched flavors. My Salmon had a white wine lemon sauce with garlic you could see and then the salmon had a little crisp from the searing. It was amazing! The place is smaller inside and quite quaint. tl;dr: awesome spot, reasonably-priced, delicious food, great service. wonderful neighborhood gem! we were debating btw this place and another spot, but this place ultimately won because i got drawn in by one thing and one thing only: the steak frites. the place was cozy and romantic, with a few tabled already occupied. they're currently offering an inflation buster prix-fix menu, for 1 app and 2 mains for $60 and that's what we went with. we got the following to try: -BBQ ranch chicken nachos: huge portion! juicy chicken breast strips, pico de gallo, ranch, bbq sauce, and melty cheese on crunchy tortilla chips. the pico had a nice tang to it, it wasn't your typical lime juice but i can't seem to put a finger on it. but really good! i do think it's better to cut the chicken into cubes than strips tho, for better chicken-to-nacho distribution ratio. -steak frites: comes perfectly cooked as requested (medium rare), served with bearnaise, fries, and garlic aioli. the steak was thick, meaty, and tender. the bearnaise sauce was awesome. we loved the garlic aioli and it paired well with the crispy fries. HIGHLY recommend this one! -brick chicken: seared, deboned half chicken (except the drumette, for presentation), served with baby potatoes, and mushroom/spinach in a marsala wine sauce. the chicken was nicely seared and juicy (yes, even the chicken breast), but a tad too salty for my taste. the marsala wine sauce was rich and creamy, but it does get a little heavy after a few bites. -lemon sugar crepe: light, tangy, refreshing. i also tried a cocktail but can't seem to remember the name of it for the life of me. i believe it was gin-based, with some kind of citrus. it was really tasty and well-balanced too. service was awesome, food was delicious, huge portions (we had leftovers), and just a really wonderful neighborhood gem. would love to stop in again if we're in the area! read more
