Claimed they wanted to give me good results and couldn't so they did refund my deposit. I originally met James a few weeks ago when he came over to give me a quote for a full front deck/stairwell replacement. My stairwell has some wood rot and damage from past hurricanes. He was nice and gave me a quote. I then asked if he would consider just replacing the wood rot and damaged parts of the stairwell, remove all the pain and then give the entire deck/stairwell a full coat of dark stain (to hide the differences in the wood (new vs old wood) and a couple coats of a clear protectant. He agreed and sent me a quote. I then asked for some modifications to the quote/contract to include start and completion dates, exactly what he would do and they types of wood he would use for repair. I even asked him to put in a provision for a 10% bonus for the entire price of the project if he finishes early or on time. All of that he agreed to and I paid the 50% deposit. He had seen the job and agreed and I had a contract. On the start date, he showed up with 2 workers and they started. We had an 8 day window to complete the project because of a party at our home, which he knew about well before the start date . He was going to remove the paint by sand blasting first, or so I thought. After 20 minutes he knocked on the door and said he would have to restart the project after the party because removing the paint was going to take longer than expected. I told him I was uncomfortable with the last minute change in plans and asked if he could just work to remove all of the paint then stop until after the project. The wood already looked crappy from the peeling paint and just having all the wood exposed wouldn't be any worse. James continued to say it wouldn't look good and for me to trust him. I said ok and we agreed for him to start after the party. A short time later, the same day he started and then stopped working because the job would be hard, he offered to just replace all of the deck/stairwell (the original project) at a discounted price from his original quote. I thanks him for his offer but declined and said I wanted to stick with the strip, repair and stain plan. He then started saying he couldn't do the job and have the product look nice and that he wanted me to be happy. I believe that was a lie and a cover up because he, or workers, didn't want to do the job. James then started blaming his boss for the reason to stop, which seemed like another lie to me. I had a signed contract and a paid deposit. I could've held him to doing the work but decided to just end the relationship and find someone who is better. Now I see there is a reason this company has no reviews.

We had a pool deck that was sinking. It looked bad and was very dangerous as a tripping hazard. It addition, the linear drain line wasn't properly working. Rain water went into the drain and then ran under the concrete slab causing additional sinking issues. Big expensive problem was brewing. The deck was down 1/4" on the left side and the right side had dropped 1 1/4". The screened cage was slowly being pulled apart. At some point we expected the concrete deck to start cracking. It is extremely expensive to have a concrete deck removed and replaced with a drain system. But we found a great option. Raise and fully support the concrete slab back to its original position. After serious research, we learned that the old fashion way called "Mud Jacking" was outdated and had too many disadvantages. The newer process of using injected foam was far better. With smaller drilled injection holes, the foam compresses the sand soil and completely fills in all the open gaps created by run off rain. When the process was complete, there was basically no set up time. We could drive an army tank over the slab. We got some estimates and after meeting with Joe at EFS, we wanted to work with them. Rather than have some large company with sub contracted crews or low labor crews that just did enough to keep their job, we felt far safer with EFS. The same two men that come out to work an estimate actually return to do the work themselves. They own the company and have many years of experience. Because they now have a highly respectable reputation with great reviews, they want to create a huge base of totally satisfied customers. In today's world where reviews really matter, the bad guys cannot hide and the good guys are rewarded with new happy customers. We are one of those very happy customers. Our pool deck was quickly and neatly repaired in two hours. EFS cleaned up as if it was their home. They restored our sinking pool deck back to the original position. Just look over the photos and see the before and after images. The best part is the price. Just a tiny little fraction of the cost to rip out and rebuild the deck and linear drain system. If your pool deck, driveway or concrete slab is sinking, don't wait, call these guys right now. Their prices are really good and their work is excellent. So there's no need to be tortured with securing numerous estimates. Environmental Foam Solutions is the one that you want.
