Our team of dancers and teachers partner with schools and community centers to build courage, connection and self-awareness through the life changing art of dance. Through a dedication to collaboration our program is constantly evolving to offer high quality dance education that aims to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Each student, regardless of ability level, is given the tools to better express themselves and tell stories through movement, performance and collaboration.
History
Established in 2008.
In 2008, Design Dance was founded by Debra Giunta to create a completely innovative performing arts program for children. While Design Dance dedicates itself to quality dance training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern and ballroom, we are also pioneers in all-inclusive arts training in dance education. This includes improvisation, poetry, and theater taught by field professionals. Each of our classes encourages not only the mastery of artistic technique, but also focuses heavily on story development and the creation of personal and compelling expression.
Meet the Business Owner: Debra G.
Debra Giunta is the Founder and Director of Design Dance. Debra grew up dancing in the south suburbs of Chicago and has over 25 years of dance experience. She became director of her first dance education program in her hometown at the age of 16 and has been teaching, choreographing, directing and mentoring ever since. As a dance educator for over 16 years, Debra has trained students ages 2-70 in a variety of dance disciplines including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop and creative movement. In 2008, Debra founded Design Dance as a way to bring dance education to children in all communities regardless of age, experience level, background and income through partnership with schools and community centers. Debra is passionate about new ideas and continues to be grateful for the opportunity to explore new ways to collaborate with her peers in the field of arts education.
