From the moment we arrived we knew this reception would be something special. We were warmly greeted by Bob McSweeney and his team, each and every one of whom was wonderful and tended to our needs throughout the entire night. The evening began with a cocktail hour directly overlooking the waterfront, and what a view! The appetizers were amazing and plentiful. As native New Englanders we especially enjoyed the lobster rolls. There was something to please every palate! Dinner was just as delicious and the view was of Long Island Sound. Had to beat! We owe a debt of gratitude to Bob in particular and to his team for their impeccable service and attention to detail. I doubt you could find a venue with the same level of wonderful food, service and location.

I was absolutely pleased and am happy to report that everything went pretty much as expected and the music provided was fantastic. People were up and dancing and had a lot of fun. Clifton arrived early and set up his station really tastefully. He and his MC wore suits and were super professional. I had a ton of last minute changes and was super picky/particular providing Clifton with a long list detailing everything from the song to play at the cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter retrieval & throwing, first dances, etc. Clifton was VERY flexible and accomodating handling our wide range of music tastes/styles (we had Spanish music like merengue, bachata, salsa but also a lot of English music --contemporary, classic and even a few odd-ball quirky songs). He was able to roll with the punches despite the numerous emails with music selection changes both from me and my sister. My sister came up with the great idea to do a table "dance-off" of sorts and Clifton and the MC made it work out really well. The entire wedding was really fun, yet tasteful -- no "Baby got Back" played here, thank you very much! After the wedding, Clifton even sent us a video clip of the bridal party and guests on the dance floor - given that we did not have a videographer, this was especially appreciated and will be treasured!! If I have only one critique, it is that the Spanish MC stumbled a bit with his pronunciation and there were a couple long pauses between music selections (actually my fault because we changed songs the day of) but overall I'm really glad I chose Clifton and Christian DJ Enterprises and I highly recommend their services.

Unfortunately, there were a few details missed during the reception and I would suggest that going forward Christian DJ Enterprises will take the time to work with their clients beforehand to understand there needs in these few areas: (These matters could have been easily avoided for an event this size if we were not brushed off prior that everything will be ok). The advertisement​ of the Christian DJ logo was center on the laptop​ placed in front of the dancefloor and did not go with the aesthetic of the decor. I would suggest that the company be transparent about this so those wedding celebrations​ that have a designed aesthetic is respected. The bridal party spent a lot of time choosing music tailored to each bridal member, but it was played out of order. It would have been beneficial if the DJ had looked at the program and read the names of the people coming out before playing the music out of place (or went through this with the bride and groom prior). Although the DJ has dismissed the responsibility to our Pastor who was volunteering as the MC for the introductions, it could have been easily avoided if the DJ listened to the announcements and played the songs to the people we had assigned it to. I highly recommend reviewing the program thoroughly with the client in the future. In particular any special dances such as an assigned 'father and mother song'. In our case, when the MC announced the 'father and mother song', the song played and as the song progressed, the song was garbled because the file was corrupted. (It looks like we had given the DJ a corrupted file of 'Take My Breath Away', but we are not clear as to when the file was corrupted.) I was unaware that the DJ had asked my husband to purchase most of the music he played. This is not a normal practice that I am accustomed to. This could have been avoided​ if the DJ professionally scanned the songs beforehand for major dances such as the 'father and mother song.' My parents practiced on early mornings for this song and the file was unfortunately corrupted. The extended family has been accustomed to family banquets with the DJs aware of how to be flexible and knowable​ with working with the program (even without an MC as present as our Pastor). Unfortunately,​ there were some miscommunications and missed details that could have been avoided. I'd suggest that the DJ and company thoroughly review the needs of the bride and groom before the day of the wedding to avoid these types of issues.

Jerry Sibal was one of 8 florists that my venue required we use for wedding flowers. I e-mailed them to request a meeting to formulate a proposal, and they were very professional, responsive, and seemed motivated. I gave them my budget of a flexible 5k, which is low for NYC, and we arranged to meet. I met with a salesperson from the office, and we talked about what I wanted in terms of flowers. The salesperson flat out told me that their average wedding flower budget is around 10k, and made it seem like I was lucky to be able to work with them, and that they were doing me a favor by working within my 5k budget. She constantly referred to Jerry as an artist. I understand that it is NYC, and there are some fancy people, and high end floral artists, and all that crap, and that's fine. But if you don't want to do simple, seasonal arrangements for 5k, then don't even waste my time by meeting with me. Just say upfront that you have a 10k minimum like Jes Gordon, and don't be condescending to me. We left off with the salesperson promising me a proposal within a week. I said no rush, I just needed it by the end of the year. Well, we met in November, and 2 months later I received one excuse that their computer system was down, and no proposal. It was a no-brainer to use another florist. I honestly don't know how these companies stay in business.

One thing I was worried about was the smell of the fresh mulch outside during our visits but thankfully, that was not a problem during our actual wedding day! The venue came with my very own bridal attendant, Breanna who was very knowledgeable and learned how to bustle both of my dresses on her own without my asking, which i was very impressed with! The carpets smelled so bad that I genuinely started feeling dizzy while setting up for my bride. The loading dock is right by the dumpster area, and the smell back there is overwhelming. There was garbage juice trailing from the dumpster area toward the kitchen where they prepare the food, which was honestly shocking to see. The entire area looked neglected and unsanitary. The vendor entrance hallway had two fly traps that were completely covered in dead flies and looked like they hadn't been changed in a very long time. It was disgusting. What bothered me even more than the cleanliness was how the staff treated vendors. We were treated like second-class citizens. I was told I wasn't allowed to use the main bathroom and had to go all the way to the basement instead. I've worked at many venues and have never experienced separate bathrooms based on whether you're a vendor or a guest. I also got lectured for arriving 30 minutes late to set up, even though it had absolutely no impact on the event and the party wasn't starting for another six hours. Despite having plenty of time, we were constantly rushed throughout setup. The entire experience felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. They made sure to remind every vendor exactly where we stood. If you're looking for a similar venue, save yourself the headache and book Greentree Country Club instead. The staff is welcoming and respectful, the venue is spotless, the views are beautiful, and the overall experience is everything Surf's Club should strive to be. I won't be returning to Surf's Club, and based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend it.

She is the sweetest person. We knew the second we met her that she was the right person for the job! She is calm, caring, and eloquent. We wanted a meaningful yet different wedding - definitely more contemporary than traditional since neither my husband or I are particularly religious. When we met her, she read different verses that she had written and asked us for our opinions/what resonated most... She took notes, asked us to look over the verses via e-mail, and revise any words to our liking. This made it more personal... We received so many compliments on our ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the house!!! We would highly recommend Reverend Daniel to any bride and groom looking for a wedding officiant. She was truly a pleasure to work with and the consummate professional. We look forward to keeping in touch with her for many years to come!
