I spent a day crying and finally today able to take time to post a review. I had gone in after months of research and saving up and wanted multi highlights with obvious highlights showing and keeping more red undertone. The picture on left is the coloring I wanted and the one on right is what I got. Everyone who has seen my hair says it's nothing like the picture. Nor is the cut anything of quality. I could have cut my hair probably better. Again picture on left is the layers I asked for (mind you I had very long hair and a lot to work with) and the cut (in right). This cost almost 500 dollars and it's heartbreaking that I wasted my money.

I said okay and l made an appointment for Brazilian blowout. But lam very disappointed and regretted it. Now my hair is shorter,puffy and still have frizz. They even tried to use a different product when l came in and they quickly changed the bowel and brought the BB. Bottles when they felt that l know how the bb smell and the whole process. She even washed my hair with a different clarifying shampoo brand and got mad when l asked her to use the BB shampoo and told me they all do the same and it's not her first time doing BB!! They fried my ends and l lost more than 2 inches of my length. I am so frustrated that l wasted my money, hair and time.

I came across Phenomenal Hair Salon on an online search and figured I would give them a try, even though it would be quite a drive. There are a few reasons I would rate this salon as a five star experience: 1) I loved the fact that I could book online and it was easy and seamless. 2) I arrived for my appointment and there was ample parking on the premises. 3) I waited less than 10 minutes to be seen after arriving on time. 4) My stylist, Mel, took the time to understand my hair routine and concerns. 5) Products used were tailored to my needs. 6) My hair was not burned or damaged during heat styling. 7) I received a really nice trim - I needed a lot taken off and I do believe in health over length. My hair feels nice, healthy and soft after being treated and I love that while I received a heated style, the salon does offer other natural styles such as twist outs. There was also a nice camaraderie between the stylists, while conversations were happening it wasn't at the expense of making me wait longer. I felt welcomed even during my first visit and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Claudel (@claudel_pottle) was in charge of hair, Diana (@beautybydiana.ct) for makeup. I will say, once I saw myself in the mirror I couldn't believe how beautiful I looked! They not only made me look like a beautiful bride, but they also catered to the needs of my maid of honor, bridesmaids, flower girls, and mother. Amazingly, with my mom, she said "do whatever you think would look good" for hair, and Claudel came up with a breathtaking hairdo! Not to mention the hair and makeup stayed put the entire night, some of us into the morning! This was with the high stress of dancing ourselves silly. If you want quality hair and makeup that will make you look like a princess AND stay in place, book with Elle. A second point: Mahnaz, the owner, was originally supposed to do my hair. She unfortunately injured her hand the week of the wedding, but was extremely communicative and helped me get a second trial with Claudel so I was comfortable and confident the day of! While I was sad I would not have Mahnaz there that day, I do hope she has a speedy recovery and is proud of the work her employees did on our special day. I have very naturally dark brown South Asian hair that can be very hard to get naturally looking highlights without looking orange. I've gone to other salons where I've been disappointed with streaky highlights that don't blend with my hair. That is definitely not the case here. Maria at AKC works absolute MAGIC! I went last weekend and Maria spent a few hours highlighting my hair. At the end of a very long appointment, I was stunned at how gorgeous my hair looked. I've gotten compliments all week from coworkers to random strangers. All of the stylists here are so incredibly talented and you can see their work on their individual Instagram pages. I've had several different stylists here at the salon work on my hair and each one has been so kind and attentive to what I was looking for. I purchased a Groupon to finally try a set of lash extensions and was horrified at my experience…read more She taped my lower lids down with what felt like Medical tape... not the nice gel pads you're supposed to use... she used so much glue that my eyes stung and felt infected for days after! It only took her about 45 minutes to apply a full set of eyelashes when I had done my research and it said it should take up to two hours of done properly. A bunch of lashes were clumped together because she didn't take the time to separate my lashes. Then she made me sit in front of an ac unit to help The lashes dry. Super unprofessional and a bad overall experience. I'm a hairstylist and I would never bad mouth people, but skip this place for lashes. Don't sell Groupons if you don't want to spend the time to make valued clients.
