This website is a scam!!!! We asked for a fairly simple website with shopify integration. We didn't receive anything. They started with a restaurant template (we are not a restaurant business) and tried to force our business into that template. They never completed a revision and would act like they were waiting on information from us that had been sent several times. We spoke with 6 people in total, and they never did anything. There was an American on the initial call. The rest of the calls came from someone of East Indian nationality, with a sign in of Pakistan. That would be perfectly fine if they didn't act like there was a language barrier when trying to speak 6 you.They refused to give us our full refund during the final call with someone in finance. I could not agree more with the all reviews here about this company. I did have the same problems with the company from the beginning and more. You would not believe what they did. but it is true. From the very beginning, they kept on trying to sell their hosting service, to which I said no. About two months later, after they did complete my website, (it took way longer than they promised and I ended up paying more: I just did not want to deal with them), I got a call from them. They frantically told me that someone did upload a porn picture to my website. They insisted on buying their hosting service right away to avoid that kind of thing again. I knew right away that they uploaded the porn because I still had the same password that they gave me at that time. I asked them to take it down first before they talked about selling the hosting service. They did not want to, and they kept on telling me it was not them. What is worst? My website was for high school students and grandparents. They did not care about it at all!! They took the porn down only when I got the website developer of my own to talk to them. I hoped so badly that there was a law that I could report this so they could not do any more business. I should have changed my password for the website. That was my biggest mistake, but I could not believe what they did to sell their service. I changed the password and user ID right away. Scams from the beginning. Awful work and terrible experience. Lies and misleading every where. My project started on Sept 2020 and now it's May 2021, I can't get my work delivered. It's just a very simple profile website, no any functionalities involved. Here are some of my horrible experience: 1. Scams from the beginning. The sales person Brian Anderson promised 100% Ownership Rights, Satisfaction Guarantee and Money back guarantee, plus add content writing for free in my package. After paying the combo package,  Ray Davis played the role of account manager to communicate with me. I was told the content writing was not included in my package, I have to pay extra hundreds to get this service. I told him to check with Brain Anderson, but he said Brain is just a sales person, he is the account manager in charge of my project. I requested money back (also because of their bad work and unprofessional manner ), but was told since they already started working on my project, they can't return money to me!! We have to stuck there! 2. They do NOT care your project! No one really cares the project, no  one cares my feedback, no one respect the time. EVERY TIME I gave their couple feedback on the updates, they only finish ONE and send back to me saying hey, here is the updated link, please check and give us your feedback. I have to write the same feedback again and again. It's so frustrating!! They sent me the updated link (a dummy web) without even looking into it These kind of things happened every where. 3. Lies and misleading. Ray Davis tried to sell me their dedicated server hosting service, which I already rejected on October 2020 as I wanted to host in my own space. I provided the access account and password to my hosting server (Dec. 17, 2020) as requested by Ray Davis. However,  couple months later (Feb. 2021), another sales person Mark Hudson called me, tried to sell me their dedicated server again and told me I have to have a dedicated server to make the web live !!! Their team can't deploy the web in my own server. I have to use a dedicated server to host a profile website (static HTML )?? They must be joking !! I totally lost trust on them and  requested them to send me all the source code and files three times, no one replies me. They don't send me source files because I rejected their offer ?? I am writing a letter to US gov to report this scammer. Hopefully they can investigate this company to avoid other customers suffering the same problem as me. Stay away from this company ! read more

MY REVIEW OF DESIGN ENGINE Most unscrupulous company in 67 years I wish there were black stars for particularly bad experiences. I hate giving even one star. I have the original proposal Design Engine made and would like to post. Because this has been the worst experience I've ever had in business, and I'm a 67 year old businessman. They promised an outstanding website that would be unique and perform the needs I have to get my online business going. I had a deadline because I'm in the plant nursery business and if I miss the planting season my financial losses are great. I worked with Ian first, who wouldn't listen to my needs and had his own idea of how the website should run. That set us back about 2 weeks. Then I was assigned Addy, who is a nice enough guy but without much IT experience. At this point, the deadline had been missed. He told me a 'designer' would be calling me over the weekend and the site would go live on Sunday. I couldn't figure out how this could come to pass as we hadn't even begun to tackle the initial problem, a database. I was later told by Dale Evans (the designer) that Addy had told me a well mean lie by saying the website would be ready Sunday because he didn't want to upset me. Huh? In what universe does this make sense. From that point on I started working with Dale continuously. Yet we would get nowhere. It seemed every sample they put up of the website was a cookie-cutter sheet website template with my information pasted onto it. But then I found out from my credit card company that they had taken it upon themselves to not only overcharge the quoted amount, but to make unauthorized charges to my card! They even had $1 and $2 charges thrown in there. Coke money, I gather. They treated themselves with my card. I had to cancel that card and got a second business card. Since they had promised (promises is their big thing - empty promises) and I wasn't aware of everything they had charged up, I foolishly gave them my business card number. I NEVER imagined a business being so unethical, immoral and daring to charge fraudulently when they were known. Yet they sure did... I got off the phone and have been charged thousands of dollars that are now in dispute. I could go on and on, but I want whoever reads this to RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They are unscrupulous and will apparently stop at nothing to get money... noting but do the job they've been hired for. If you're foolish enough to fall for their promises, at least communicate using emails and avoid their portal. Fortunately, I copied everything on it. Otherwise, you stand to it becoming a he said/she said. I will be suing them for lost revenue as this is now too late to sell my products, which are ruining as I write this! They lie, cheat and steal and in my opinion that the positive reviews are probably all fake. They take down negative reviews, so I plan on copying this so I can repost when they do. I feel bad for whoever falls into their preying hands. (preying, not praying - beware!) RUN FROM THEM OR YOU'LL REGRET IT. *** Since I initially wrote this I received a threatening phone call from "Dale Evans" saying I would regret writing this review. They have gone into my accounts they had access to in order to build my website, and changed the passwords so that I can now not even access my own information. And whatever story they gave, it was convincing enough that I can't get the problem fixed. For example, NameCheap, where I bought my domain, won't release my site, regardless of proving by sending current picture alongside picture of my drivers license. Therefore NameCheap is just as bad as Designs Engine. And I have found Designs Engine uses other names to get away with their dirty work. I have hired an attorney to sue for not only my money, but for damages caused by their lying and not producing a product, thereby causing me to lose my revenue for he busiest time of year, which is fall in the nursery business. In addition, the distress they have caused me has put me on medications. This has been the worse experience one can imagine going through with an online company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! AVOID!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. I was scammed by this company. I was promised a 100% refund at any point during development and when I requested one I was refused because my reasons were invalid. What was my reasoning? It was a month of constantly trying to portray what I wanted for my website and basic changes never being made. It took 2 weeks to even put the website name down. I was constantly asking for changes only for them to never be made or not be made as requested. HUGE LANGUAGE BARRIER. They couldn't seem to understand anything I wanted even when written in crystal clear text. I contacted on a Thursday asking for a refund and went through it all with them explaining why. They asked for another chance to make the changes and I allowed it, explaining that if I was unsatisfied with them I could have a refund. I checked and I was still unhappy. I was then told I would receive my refund and it would show up on the utility board when it was posted. After the weekend passed and no refund was received I contacted them back and was then told I was not eligible for a refund. THEY ARE LYING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. 100% MONEY BACK IS A SCAM!!! Do not fall for their false advertising. I paid around $299 for the basic package and then they charged me an additional $100 to have it formatted for a cell phone. This was in July of 2020, it's December 2020 and my site is still not up and running.. They came up with a generic quick draft very quickly then started upselling galore. Once I didn't participate, stating I'm an actor and only need a basic web site, they went dark on me. I am going to BBB to force a complaint and trying to get my money back. They also told me it was being done in WordPress but well not give me my log-in information for WordPress so I can upload current images or make changes myself. If you are going to do business with them, I suggest playing nice, meaning, let them write everything, host your site and pay for whatever they ask. Run away from this company This was the worst experience I've ever had to deal with. I have been dealing with this company for 3 months and it's been every bit of a disaster. Their customer service is a joke a well. When you call to check on your account they give you the run around and ask you twenty questions just to speak with your account manager. They're contracting their labor overseas so when there were adjustments needed and or questions asked it takes them a week to make a simple adjustment. I hired Designs Engine Jan of 2020. I paid over $33,000.00 over time which I never got my money's worth. They advertise 100% guarantee. FORGET IT! original promise was I'd be up and running in 3 months, in 3 months they called 3 times saying they needed more money to do this or that to ensure my site would be awesome. they even had a SO-CALLED attorney call me asking for $7000 to trademark my business name. Eclectic Creations. Then they charged me for mobile app that never, ever worked. Looked good as a draft, but no one could order and then they couldn't link me to my product delivery sites, without another $7000. so on and so on. Finally, after asking for their EIN tax number so I could write them off on taxes, they started ghosting me. in Nov of 2021 I received a call from a guy wanting to give them another chance to prove to me they could make me happy. He claimed there was a whole new staff, the other guys were fired, and they could take over. YES, I'm sure it would have cost me more money. They figure once a fool, they would try again. I told him I wouldn't talk about moving forward without the EIN number so I could claim loss on taxes. He agreed to get it to me. After 5 requests. never, ever got the EIN number. DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS. Don't let them fool you. They are polite, claim to care and sympathies with my frustration. They even tease you with nice layouts and pages, but when you ask for adjustments, corrections, or a way to go on the site myself to make changes if they don't have time. I get nothing. I was happy with the results; however, it took a firm voice to get what I asked for without the consistent mention of other services that included more money. I will say that the other gentlemen that I started this process with really didn't explain to me all the different prices. UPDATE: One year later, Designs Engine has STILL not returned the $550 they stole from me, but I have decided to take further action against them. In the coming days, I will be filing a formal complaint against them with the California Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau (even though it is suspected that they are a foreign company posing as a US business) I did some research on them and discovered they have many reports filed against them with the BBB. Also, they are not accredited with the BBB, which means they are not approved to follow certain professional standards such as a commitment to make good faith efforts to resolve consumer complaints... which pretty much means THEY WILL CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY! This company ROUTINELY engages in unscrupulous acts such as changing the passcode and locking you out of YOUR website if you make complaints or request a refund. I have saved an email I received from one of their Project Managers (Jay Barry) which proves he changed the password and locked me out of (MY WEBSITE) until I agreed not to ask for a refund for sloppy and unprofessional work. They DO offer a money back guarantee, but they WILL NOT honor it if you are unsatisfied with their work. If you have a website that needs updating, or needs something tweaked, they will make unauthorized changes, damage your site, and then refuse to acknowledge responsibility for it. They will tell you "There's no sense in complaining...it won't get you your desired results" and pretty much DARE you to take any action. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...avoid this company at all costs!
