    St. Nick's cabin

We stayed in the St.Nicks cabin. It was a beautiful couple days. The staff was always cheerful and accommodating. They helped us make a nice fire outside before a wonderful dinner at Sorenson's. The cabin was perfect for two adults and our Husky. A cool shower, upstairs bedroom and plenty of room. Clean and cute!

We went to see the color change in Hope valley . Stopped in to the Sorenson's Cafe for lunch.Waited 45 minutes for lunch ,which never arrived.then told our server we were leaving. They were not very professional in handling the SLOW service. Not going back... 45 yr Tahoe Local

If you are looking for a quiet isolated stay away from the city, this is the perfect spot. A place full of little cabins for your family and pets to enjoy. Also a nice mini sno-park. They have small hiking trails for sledding which is pretty awesome. The trees are so cover with snow which would make great photography. There's not many restaurant nearby besides in the hotel, so I advise to bring food to snack or cook. The hotel has a stove, plates, cups, and utensils to use. There's a fridge, but unfortnately no microwave. The electric fireplace keep you nice and warm. The customer service could be better and the room key attached with a paddle was pretty annoying to carry, but I wouldn't mind staying here again.

I love this place a lot. It accommodated almost everything we needed. My family and I came in for one night stay while a snow storm hitting. We enjoyed the load of snowfall that nature brought us. The staffs were really helpful and tried their best to make us feel home. Welcome drink was offered during check in plus goodie bag for my pup. We got to use the old- fashioned sauna room which was nice. Also, the awesome staffs set the camp fire for us, great for roasting marshmallow (we brought our own). I understand the hotel has recently changed ownership. Some facilities, like the cafe and store, are under renovation. The only restaurant there is below average. No continental breakfast during our stay, however it's listing on the website. Basically no other options but paying premium price for a bowl of oatmeal. The tiny lobby only fits two people for public WiFi. It closes at 9pm. I wish there's a map that we could use to find hiking trail or sled area. The cabin we stayed was nice and clean. The only complaint my daughter has was it got real toasty in the middle of night who slept at the attic bed. Otherwise, great amenity.

We were up enjoying a snow walk and play day with the dogs in Hope Valley in between winter storms. After such activities, it's nice to be able to sit and enjoy a good beer without going all the way to South Lake Tahoe. Sorensen's Cafe had Black Butte Porter in bottles! I asked an employee whether the resort was dog friendly and was told that the whole resort was dog friendly. They aren't allowed in the restaurant, though. So, we took our bottles and sat on comfy wood chairs around the outdoor fire pit. It was interesting that the name of the old resort was kept for the restaurant. The cabins look cute! I'd love to come back sometime and stay here. It'd be close to Kirkwood and peaceful at night.0

We booked on this place and it's a nice place to get away from the city lights I will give this a five star . I'm sure there's other places it's just cause the lady we talked to and her name is Monica is just rude no respect. She charge us for the coffee and supposed to be complimentary for guests, it's not the money just the way her tone towards us . (did I mention we're Asian ) I don't think we will come back again thanks It's a nice place tho :((.

Nice location in the mountains, but I wouldn't come back. Too many things I didn't like, an employee was smoking.. I was with my kids in the lawn area & smelled cigarettes. Did not like that. In the bathroom in the ceiling there was black spots all over the ceiling, I'm assuming that's black mold. There's no air ventilation you can turn on in the bathroom other than the window. In the shower it was so confusing to turn on, I had to have front desk come and help. The employee was confused herself & had to call maintenance. As she was trying to turn it on, the handle to adjust the heat of the water just popped off so easily. The bedroom with the queen bed smelled so dirty like dirty socks & shoes. I did like the front desk workers, they were kind & helpful. Also, the construction workers were nice as well. It suck's that desolation hotel had all these unfortunate things.

I had the chance to stay at Desolation Hope Valley with my husband and dog and it was truly one of the best weekends away! Desolation does an amazing job at welcoming your pups while also making their oasis feel like home. We checked into the cabin with the fire already going and were so surprised to see how well stocked the kitchen was - spices, pots/pans/utensils, and literally everything you'd need to make a meal (which is a great idea since there isn't a ton around the Hope Valley area). There's a great restaurant on site called Sorenson's which we loved eating at for lunch/dinner and also had a few breakfast options out each morning. Our favorite parts of the property were the comfy beds, the rustic charm, the fire pits, the private sauna you could make reservations for, and how much fun our puppy had in the snow. We were minutes away some beautiful meadows and the property lets you rent complimentary equipment so we were able to snowshoe for the first time. You're also ~25 min from South Lake Tahoe if you want to get closer to the water. Thank you Desolation Hope Valley for such a wonderful weekend - we will be back!

The Sorensen's team literally moved heaven and earth to ensure that my wedding weekend, (the first of their season) was perfect! After the record snowfall of 2022-23, the property needed major restoration. The team brought in heaters to melt the snow, put in French drains, cut down/back damaged trees, added over 6000 sq feet of sod, planted new flowers, and probably so much more that I'm not even aware of. By the time of the wedding, everything was GORGEOUS!!! I was additionally impressed that whenever I stopped by prior to the wedding, everyone was chipping in-- regardless of their title or job role. it was all hands on deck! I am especially grateful to Brandon, Ross, Charley, Monica, Chey, Brianne, Zack and Jay. No request was too big or small for them, and they always greeted us with a smile and can-do attitude. By the end of weekend we were greeted with hugs and all felt like family! I will be eternally grateful to this team, Sorensen's and Desolation Hotel Hope Valley for making my wedding weekend MAGICAL!!! The food was delicious, service outstanding and setting perfection! Thank you all!

I didn't get a chance to stay here but stopped in for the beautiful yellows leaves on the tree during mid October's for some pictures. This place is beautiful with variety of cabinet for rent. The trees was full of yellow leaves that you can't stop staring at its beauty. This is like a romantic getaways for a couple. The scenic was just too beautiful with the swing and the small creek surrounding. Those who want a retreated or a alone times, this is the place to check in. I believed it is expensive not cheap as you need to book advance. Overall, I think I will reserves one night in here just to be alone. But I recommend coming here during mid fall of October through the end of October as the leaves changes it colors.

Does the pinon cabin have a refrigerator also does it have a tv?

we changed cabins to get more space and I don't recall either having a tv, one of the reasons we loved it there. This is the remoteness of the east side of the Sierras. It's not a place you go to watch Netflix, stream things, post to social media,… Read more

We were assigned to the yurt which was totally off-the-grid. The yurt has no power, no toilet, even no water you could access. The yurt was located at the top of the rock mountain, where it could only be reached through a unpaved narrow path (unless you have a off-road vehicle) otherwise it would be impossible to drive your own car parked next to the yurt. Although it was a full furnished yurt, none of the LED light setup inside worked. Since there were no water access inside the yurt or nearby, either you need to prepare enough water for your "glamping" experience , or you need to spent 15-20mins walking thru the dirty unpaved road to the nearest toilet to get the water. Yes, you need to walk 15 to 20mins to the "nearest' toilet , and the toilet was definitely horrible, it only had two toilets and one shower place, and the shower place was totally NOT in "glamping" quality, I would say it looked like a dirty public toilet where I did not even want to spend 1 minute in there. The camping area did not have any EV charging station, where you need to walk 10 mins on "HIGHWAY" back to the hotel reception/restaurant area. Although the map that the hotel provided shown there was a hiking trail access from camping/glamping area back to restaurant, that was NOT true. The staff told us the trail was not walkable and without any clear direction. In summary, if you are looking for comfort yurt glamping , wylder hotel yurt is not your choice. I would like to give credit to Cari, who is the staff working in camping area. She had gave us a great help to move all of our items from the yurt back to our car because she did notice my car would definitely could not reach to the yurt area. Thanks Cari.

I love that they offer fun activities such as board games and s'mores around the fire. They offer morning, yoga classes by the lake as well as lawn games like cornhole. Just book it, especially if you have fur babies!…read more My husband and I live in Reno and wanted to book an anniversary trip to Tahoe that we could take our senior Weimaraners. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. Room 101 is closest to the street. The street is a bit noisy so bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to that. The fireplace fan provided some white noise which helped. As far as ambiance, if you're looking for fancy, this isn't the place. But that didn't matter to us. It's an older place and the decor is outdated -- very old school motel-type room. We rolled in around dinnertime, unloaded the car (parking is convenient and right outside the door) and went to dinner at the Thai place a few blocks away (fantastic). Got back to the room and turned on the fireplace to warm things up, put our PJ's on, and sat on the bed to play a fun card game that we brought (Five Crowns).
