This park after Bo first review, I have visited many time. I did not have time to write about it until right now. This park is a jewel for the city of Tampa. Many events were hold here. Love the park. Many entrance make this park easy to access. The big event that I have attend before are NFL experience, boom at Tampa Bay, music in the park, and many more. I was able to enjoy my time here while attending the event. One thing for sure, Boom at Tampa Bay is one of the event you don't want to miss. This event we brought our on chair set 100 feet from the the Hillsborough River, we feel the fireworks ashes fall on our face. The fire work is close and exciting. The park has water park, restroom, event building and more. Love the facilities that can host many people. Parking always a challenge for big event. Most of the time they open the remote parking next to Blake high school. read more

We had some time to pass before dinner at Rome&Fig. So we drove over to the park for a walkaround. Located across from the Straz Center and just north of Tampa U The park runs down to the Hillsborough river and sports a little of everything. Tennis, pickle ball, basketball and more. This 25-acre riverside park also features a boat house, huge lawn & splash pad, plus two areas for dogs. We opted for the riverfront walk on this beautiful day. We noticed every police agency had a boat on the water - Tampa City, State, FWC, Marine Patrol. They were busy accompanying every waterborne individual, including two female kayakers, all the way along the river. Curious? We were. Turns out President Biden was speaking at Tampa U. Riddle solved. We enjoyed our walk and headed off to dinner. Nice park!! read more

Great city park close to downtown. I went with my family to attend Pops in the Park. The Florida Orchestra put on a free concert in Julian B Lane Park to celebrate Mother's Day. We packed a picnic and listened to music as the sun set. It was a nice evening out. The park is quite large with multiple sections. There is a fenced dog park that looked very well maintained (and no mud, so probably no need to bathe the dog after a visit!), a good-sized playground, a water park. There was the huge green where the concert was held, and behind it, there was an area where food trucks were able to sell their wares. I liked that there were plenty of trashcans around that were not overflowing. There is parking, but for events like Pops in the Park, you'll likely have to park farther away and walk a bit, unless you arrive early. Watch out for local street parking, which might not be legal parking at all. I'm glad that this city has places like this park for the whole community to enjoy. read more

The City of Tampa put a huge amount of money into this park and it's turned out very well. The fields back out onto the river, offering a nice open view of the boats going by and some of Tampa's interesting architecture decisions downtown. There are excellent tennis courts, some pickle ball courts (that we wish were more tennis courts), a really nice splash pad for kids, a great playground, a beautiful avenue of mature trees with a raised walkway, and lots of space to set up festivals, food trucks, etc. There is also a genuinely lovely boathouse at one end, feeding out onto the river. read more

I frequent Julian B. Lane tennis courts for pickleball, but I don't spend much time in the park itself. I went for Boom by the Bay, Tampa's 4th of July event this past Saturday. Parking is tough when there's an event going on, but realistically there are very few places where that isn't the case if thousands of people are going to be in one area. We found street parking for free about a 10 minute walk away, so not too bad. The park itself is beautiful, clean, and right by downtown, and has great waterfront views! It's a gorgeous space for a casual walk, and definitely a solid outdoor event venue. read more

We live down the street from this park and there was a huge investment into remodeling it several years ago. Prior to the remodel it was a dumpy looking space that wasn't open and had wooded trails, tore up tennis courts and beat up fields. Now it's a large open field with pavilions, sidewalks, basketball courts, tennis courts,pickle ball, dogs parks, splash pad with a large playground. I love coming here daily for a run to connect to the river walk, rollerblading, bringing the fur baby, taking the kids for a play date or just watching the sunset over the river. This park shows the best of tampa. Sometimes you'll even catch manatees coming up for air and dolphins. During the fall the park is host to many events, concerts and even firework displays. Perfect meeting point for the community. read more

Wow, I cannot believe it took me so long to visit Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park! (Thank you Tina S. for the play date invite!) This is now my favorite park in Tampa! As the name suggests, this park is located on the Hillsborough River, just up the street from the University of Tampa. The park offers something for everyone! There are tennis courts, pickle ball courts, basketball courts, an astroturf field for sports, two playgrounds, a splash pad, two dog parks, covered picnic areas, an event pavilion and docks for boats and kayaks. Not to mention those water views! I really like how the playground has an area for smaller children, but it is pretty common to find an older child roughhousing on the equipment. The one thing that the park is lacking is swings which is a shame because that is my son's favorite. The playground was definitely designed with Tampa's weather in mind and offers lots of shady areas. Once the afternoon heat gets unbearable you can cool off on the splash pad. Of all the wonderful amenities the parking lot is my favorite! There is plenty of parking and I can always find a spot! read more

This is park wonderful. Normally, I like to go walking here but it's good for a little festival. Today, it's a nice day for The Flavor of West Tampa with food vendors, local vendors, free photo booth, cigar vendors, sangria, dance groups, local bands & national music star Belinda Womack. I had the Cinnamon Apple Sangria with was good. Also, I had the Guava & Cream Cheese Flan from Niaddi Flan which was smooth. Beautiful new addition to downtown Tampa and Riverwalk area. Finally, a change from the eyesore, construction scenery from the other side of the river. With additional parking lots and public restrooms, plus dog park, basketball courts, and ping pong tables, this park has a little something for everyone. It wouldn't be the Tampa Riverwalk without works of art lining the perimeter. Expect to find optical treats in unsuspecting nooks while exploring the park. The River Center seems to be the after school hotspot for young rowers to practice. The inside is industrial looking with hardwood and exposed supports throughout. Amazing views of downtown from the huge glass windows. Suitable for weddings and private events. When lit up at night it enhances the cityscape along the water. Conveniently next to the bridge on W Laurel, making crossing the river easy on foot. Adjacent to an area on the verge of gentrification. Close to Armature works and the Boys and Girls Club, and about an hour walk from Sparkman Wharf. I highly recommend crossing the river and checking out the Julian B Lane Riverfront Park. Parking is limited so I would recommend having a backup plan just in case! read more

I love what they did with this park! My favorite part is the green space. So much grass for my dog Mocha Coconut. There's a great park for the kids and splash zone for them too. It's free so perfect for these grueling summer hot days. When you walk around the trail there's a cool electronic game where u and your friends can run and hit the lights. I don't give much description but when you run into it, you will know what I'm talking about. There are nice views of the river and the Straz here. There's much more to the park than I was able to see so I will definitely be back! read more

I am so thankful for the investment that The City of Tampa made with the Julian B. Lane park. The way they redeveloped this land into a beautiful park for our community is awesome. This park has it all, and is located on our beautiful Hillsborough River. There are fields to run, throw a ball or have a picnic. You can run, bike, play basketball, take your dog to the dog park and much more. They have some fitness equipment and a light up tag game for kids. The bathrooms have always been clean and tidy. I can't wait to try the Yoga in the park on Sunday mornings. read more

Why 5 stars? Because what else could you want in a park? --- --- --- As the parent's of a one-year old, we're constantly on the hunt for places to keep him entertained on the weekend. He's made it abundantly clear that he's seen it all and done it all when it comes to things within our house, and that he's ready to explore Tampa Bay. And since my wife and I started dating, our favorite thing to do was explore the city for new restaurants we've never been to. Now we just add on parks we haven't been to, to our itinerary. The problem with most parks is that they have jungle gym's for kids, but they are almost always for older kids. Julian B Lane easily had the most options for our son's age, which means we will probably be coming back many more times before he gets big enough to play in the big-kid areas. But even if you're not specifically looking for a place to entertain a one-year old, this park is amazing. It takes advantage of riverfront space that, for some reason, was mostly just sitting dormant, I guess? What did we do with all this riverfront before Armature Works and Julian B Lane started maximizing it? It's an enormous green space, on the river with a skyline backdrop. There are open fields, plenty of fun things for kids and when we visited, there was a Sunday afternoon yoga class happening. Basically, unless you just hate being outside, there's something here for everyone. read more

We attended The Riverfront Rock Fest yesterday evening. This festival was for the grand opening of Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. The park is going to be a wonderful addition to the up and coming Heights District of Tampa. The park has a boathouse with docks and paddle boards, tennis courts pickle ball counts, an event lawn, an area for food trucks and so much more. Yesterday's free opening event featured, fitness classes, tennis and pickle ball clinics, the annual Mac and cheese competition, Navy sky divers, food trucks, beer/wine for purchase and music all day with Third Eye Blind headlining! The event was free to attend. The Mayor Bob Buckhorn also did the ribbon cutting ceremony. Who does not love free concerts in the park! read more

Fantastic public park! Tons of parking, party areas, walking path, great play area, and a splash pad area. They also have family restrooms. This might be the best park we have ever been to. My son played for hours and didn't want to leave. The play area is enclosed for safety, and there are shaded areas and plenty of benches around. I've always seen pictures of this park and wondered where it was. It's on the opposite side of Armature Works. It is absolutely beautiful. What an amazing job they did redoing the whole thing and turning it into such a wonderful place to hang out with the kids and the furbabies! Lots of space to roam and play! There's a playground and a basketball court. The inside of the River Center is a great spot to have an event! It's a pretty big space inside to have a wedding reception with a great view of the river. They store all the dragonboats and crew stuff at this location as well. Lots to do here so make sure you make time for a whole day of being outside in the beautiful Tampa sunshine! read more

In the efforts of beautifying Tampa and developing our downtown, this park is just a wonderful edition! There are a lot of wide paths where you can walk on as well as numerous new playgrounds to take the kids. They even have an outdoor gym with equipment that you could use. The ground is like a yoga mat that is a nice touch. You get a great view of downtown Tampa regardless of where you are. There's a lot of event space around here to host special occasions. My boyfriend and I came out here during the inaugural Boom by the Bay Fourth of July celebration. On normal days its actually not too crowded so you could definitely spend a few hours here enjoying the outdoors. read more

Super cool park that is a great addition to the area. I came for the opening weekend to check it out. First of all, I had no idea that this park even existed, shout out to Nicole G. for the insider knowledge. I'm pretty sure if I lived closer I would have been jonesing for this park to be finished, but I just got to reap the rewards. The city paid major moola for this park and it shows. Everything is new and shiny. Definitely check it out now while it is still the place to be! I have a feeling that since they spent so much money on this park they will continue the upkeep. There is a great play area for kids. They have a water zone, which is perfect for the summer. The amphitheater is also pretty nice. I can see this being a Curtis Hixon Park type place where there will be tons to do. Also the proximity to the water taxi makes it easy for you to make a day out of going up and down the river to the various attractions. read more

Best park in Tampa, hands down! I have no idea how I only just now found out about it. Julian B. Lane is huuuge and it has it all! Tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer/football field, water front walking, dog parks and even a crazy large field with an amphitheater. My wife and I came just for the dog park, but we were amazed at all it had to offer. The dog park(s) were so nice! The are artificial turf which I prefer, and a large very well maintained area. They even have a little splash pad which our pup loved, especially in this heat. Definitely a lot of fun and we will be sure to come here far more often. read more

What an outstanding place to enjoy the outdoors. This lovely waterfront park is simply full of art, activities, not one, but two, areas devoted to dogs, plenty of picnic shelters and even a few exercise stations. The location is perfect for a stroll on its side of the Hillsborough River or as part of an extended excursion along the Riverwalk. It would also be an ideal outing to take the family for a day or simply to just to hang out, relax, enjoy the scenic surroundings and watch all the ways people play in and around the water. Parking was plentiful on a weekend visit when there were lots of people. There are bikes on-site to rent so it would be a convenient place to park, and then rent a bike to ride around the downtown area, out to the two new food halls near Ulele or to explore the whole of the Riverwalk. We enjoyed hiking the entire perimeter of the park and a little bit beyond. There are historical markers placed throughout that give context to the area, its past and how the neighborhood has changed over the decades. Water fountains and restrooms are available and conveniently located near the children's playground area and splash pad. We were there during daytime but there seemed to be lots of lights placed throughout the park. I can imagine it must be beautiful at night. Hoping to enjoy events at this lovely site and making future visits to further celebrate this wonderful addition to Tampa's public spaces! read more

I was so happy when they finally finished re-constructing this park. This park has been a part of the downtown scene for many years. However, this has undergone a major renovation which was finished earlier this year. Now it's completely redone with new outdoor furniture, event stage, loading docks, City of Tampa owned multi-use/community building, picnic tables, barbecue grill, wide open lawn areas, playground for the kids, water mist zone, bike rack with a few rental bikes, etc. This is also another water taxi stop. Its multi-level terrain provides for a very scenic view from every angle of this park. I see a lot of potential for many different types of events in this area. I was thoroughly impressed by the redesign of this park. It was worth the visit. read more

This new park is gorgeous. We spent the day there yesterday for The Riverfront Rock Fest and I am not even sure if we saw everything it has to offer. There is a huge soccer field, basketball courts, tennis courts, A huge water park / splash area for the kids, outdoor ping pong tables, some sort of combination of bowling and pool (I am not familiar with this game) and more. The concert area was pretty nice. It had a huge area with thick grass that was nice enough (at least for now) to sit on without a blanket. There are two huge sail looking canopies to give you a reprieve from the shade. The stage includes large screens on each side. We saw Third Eye Blind and it was pretty awesome! There are also stairs to sit on farther back. The park is located on the river and is gorgeous once you are inside. The neighborhood on the outside is maybe not the best. There is also not really anywhere to park, so I am not sure how that will work out for future events. We parked in a slightly precarious place yesterday. Overall, it is a really cool park. I hope that it stays as nice as it is now. I would definitely like to return. read more

Very open space with amazing views of downtown Tampa. Located near the armature works/tampa prep area. The park itself is new and very clean. Well padded playground and splashpark. Basketball courts,tennis court, kayak rental all available to the public. Plenty of open grass areas and sidewalk paralleling the river. Access to the river taxi. Some people bring a lawn chair and just sit at the docking areas. Plenty of space to lay out a picnic blanket or just have a seat on the bench and enjoy the outdoors. Covered areas available for parties and relatively cheap to reserve (~$50). I am a very big fan of downtown San Diego and I will say that some parts of Tampa are starting to resemble SD. I've had the pleasure of attending the Navy Band performance on the park's opening weekend and the Stella Artois event at the River center with beautiful views of the city! I love that there is plenty of free parking at this facility which is sorely missing from the Curtis Hixon Park. This park Is now a great spot to play tennis, do water sports, or a good starting point to get onto the Tampa Riverwalk. I look forward to coming here for many more special events, concerts, tennis, and Water sports! What a great addition to Tampa! We weren't able to make it to the Riverfront Rock festival this weekend, but wanted to check out the new park so we went early in the morning to check it out. Honestly, the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the parking situation. The parking lot was closed off due to there being an event later that day so we had to park in the neighborhood. I get that they purposely limited parking to get people to take public transportation, but that is really hard for people with small children in car seats so it was a bit inconvenient. I digress... Outside of the parking, this park is AWESOME. First of all, it is huge! There were tons of areas to hang out and relax. Second of all, the kids area was awesome. My almost 2 year old LOVED the playground and was eyeing the splash area too. There were also a lot of adult fun options too like bocce ball, corn hole, chess, checkers, etc. The park is also beautiful. It is right on the water with a view of downtown and the landscaping was great. There is a boat house that also hosts an event space on the top floor, which I think will get a lot of traffic. I expect to see a lot of the events that were previously held at Curtis Hixon getting moved to Riverfront Park. I know I will be there often! read more

This unique, super long slide has me coming back again. I haven't been able to find anything else like it in the Bay Area. It's a huge metal slide on the side of a giant hill. Well, I say giant, but I don't want to embellish it too much. The hill is only about 20 feet tall, and the slide is only about 50 feet long. Something about it is just super fun though. To enhance the excitement and maximize speed, some kids put sand on the slide and sit on cardboard. This is equivalent to putting non caloric silicon base kitchen lubricant 500 times more slippery then any cooking oil on a saucer sled. Pros: Unique park with lots of playgrounds and available activities. Plenty of wide open grassy areas for passing the football or Frisbee, and lots of shady areas to lounge out comfortably in peace. Tons of benches/places to sit. Cons: Parking is limited. I'm not too sure about the neighborhood. Its not a park I would venture at night. Even in the datetime, I don't like parking or I can't see my car. Maybe I'm just paranoid. It's fun, and I keep coming back! I recommend it, just don't leave any valuables in your car. read more

Overall this park is beautiful. Great place to have chill with some friends and have a barbecue. A group of us met up from an online group to play "flag football". Immediately we were told that we had to leave because " they don't allow organized sports/activities to be played there although this was just a random meetup group. Doesn't make sense to have such a nice park to not be utilized. read more
