The inside of this coffee shop is very large so there's plenty of places to sit. It looked like they have live music there too on some days. My cappuccino I ordered was great, but it took over 10 minutes to get it which seemed a bit excessive, especially because I was on-the-go. There were a few people ahead of me and it seemed like they were waiting for about the same amount of time. The coffee I ordered wasn't too extravagant, a cappuccino with oatmilk and caramel flavor. Their espresso is one of my favorites! Every espresso forward drink I've had here has been top notch. It's for bitterness, sweetness, a fantastic mouthfeel and I would highly recommend it. Prices are a bit outrageous, some of their small drinks are almost $8 and it's irritating but it's 100% on me for that decision. I wish I had taken note of the different drink names but I did not. This place is such a gem, located in the heart of downtown Rochester! I love the layout of the space, where you walk in and it has a small set of stairs that then leads up and into the long, narrow shop space with the ordering counter in the very back and various tables and seating areas throughout between the front and the back. There is even a small stage for live music/performances, which is a lovely and very fitting touch for a coffee shop! Obviously, having the set of stairs in the front makes it a lot less accessible. I came here with my friend who is on crutches right now and she was able to make it up the stairs with minimal difficulty, but given that there are many kinds of disabilities and I don't believe I saw a ramp to go up beside the stairs nor a back entrance that would allow people to come in at that slightly higher height level, this is a significant concern accessibility-wise. The space is moody, while also being very coffee shop like. I have known of people going on first dates here and it feels very fitting! It's a very cute space and offers a bit more on top of just coffee drinks, so it really lives up to its "dessert" name. I got an iced matcha (it was not the worst, but also not the best that I've had) and the tiramisu cheesecake (pretty good, but still not one of the better cheesecakes I've had). Both were good and the perfect afternoon snack. This place is lovely for all kinds of reasons, so definitely check it out if you need a pick me up next time you're in Rochester! read more

This place hits every time. This is my absolute favorite location of Dessert Oasis. I just love the decor, you feel like you are in a movie or a TV show enjoying your coffee and desserts. The mocha here is so nicely roasted and sweet, it is an enjoyable cup! Their tiramisu cheesecake was so tender and flavorful, the perfect hybrid of tiramisu and cheesecake combination. Alright, I've become a bigger coffee snob since I last reviewed five years ago. I came here twice recently and got a pour over and cortado (both made using their Brazil Bom Cafe beans). I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the pour over! There was a hint of strawberry acidic and the chocolate after taste was tasty. I love that you can ask them which beans you want to try for the pour over. Definitely willing to come back to try other blends. I got the cortado the second time and it was presented beautifully with carefully crafted latte art (pretty impressive since cortados are small) but the drink itself was slightly bitter and a bit watery. Overall, the taste itself was boring and I probably wouldn't get this again. Happy to come back to the nice vibes and live music eventually and try out more coffee! The pastries were heated despite the request to not be, as they were for breakfast tomorrow and staff forgot to give us 2 of the pastries. When we called regarding the missing pastries they said they were putting them in a handled bag which the other 2 were to be put in also. Why would they be placed on the counter with the drink if they were not done bagging them? We also couldn't understand why then there was no attempt by staff to provide the other pastries prior to us leaving. After all that, the Manager offered to refund the missing items only (of course we are not going to pay for items not provided). Almost 30 minutes for an iced drink to go and staff couldn't manage to ensure all 4 pastries were provided to us before leaving, really!?! read more

I enjoyed it quite a lot, although it had significantly more milk flavor than coffee flavor (maybe because I said half flavor?). I am a very simple person when it comes to coffee. I like a strong brew with just cream and sugar. I don't like fancy syrups or flavors. Yesterday i asked which pour over the barista recommended. She said Guatemala. I trusted her judgment and it was probably the best coffee i ever had, no exaggeration. So good in fact that i drank it black which i never do. It was just so good on its own. The staff here is doing the absolute best they can! And Dessert Oasis coffee roasts the quality of a coffee snob's dream. Their syrups are house made (and all vegan, I think?). I will go out of my way to visit this location, because the setup is so great. The inside seating is obviously all shut down, but there are a couple tables outside. I ordered a caramel latte with nonfat milk. They first made me a caraway latte, which was actually very delicious! But not what I ordered, so I asked them to correct the order and they did it without any issue at all! I love this place. read more

Hmm, I'm not sure what good this review will do, but here goes anyways.. I usually frequent the RO location but I stop by here when I'm getting my car serviced at the dealership down the road. Same coffee, different experience. Like the remodel. I never feel compelled to stay here though, mostly because I don't actually want to *be* in Rochester; I'd rather be some place cooler. But it's convenient, it's the original location, and there's a trail nearby. Anyways service is usually good. Today was a little weird though - I approached the counter, 3 baristas working, it wasn't busy at all, no one else in line - and two different people told me "we'll be right with you". Pleasant enough, but also I'm used to being helped right away, at least here.. at the RO location the register is far away from where they make coffee so I can understand sometimes I'm not helped right away there. Anyways, I did get helped right away by the second person who said they will be right with me. Strangely though, later, I saw the first person who told me that, actually assisting a customer. I assumed he was a kitchen person because he came out from the back and was doing something at the prep station. Why didn't he help me in the first place? I kinda did the whole "feign being not ready and look at the menu more" as a way apologize for actually being ready to order but unable to do so.. Maybe he was busy making something. But there was 3 people back there, I was the only person in line. I didn't wait long, but it's just something I noticed. I got the Costa Rica natural pour over and wasn't impressed. Frankly, I haven't been impressed with DOCR coffee in a minute. I was liking it last last year (2021) when they had some good Guatemalans. I think there was an Ethiopian that year that was really good too But lately, as in the most recent batch of coffees, they are all tasting the same. They are lacking depth and aren't as well-rounded or smooth as they could be. Or even lively. I've had every one of the most recent coffees, even that expensive Mexican a few months back, and that one wasn't even worth writing home about, for like $7 or whatever it was for a cup. I can still get a decent latte or Americano at any of DOCR but I'd like to see them step up their pour over game or roast differently. Maybe this isn't the best selection of coffees they've had. Otherwise, it's getting to be too acidic for my taste; if you want an idea of what I think excellent coffee tastes like, or where I gauge coffee from, try Onyx's "Southern Weather". I've written reviews at coffee shops before and I imagine most higher ups who read the review probably think I don't know what I'm talking about, or they are arrogant in their practices. But I respect people and businesses that stand behind their products but also are open to criticism. read more

I came in for dessert with my friend. The pictures are very different from the inside. Their website is really cool. They were extremely busy at 9:30 pm, which is usually odd for a coffee place. That's awesome! They had many tables set up and the owner was really nice. They had really cool products too, such as a coffee bean candle. If you like candles, you should definitely purchase it! The staff was really friendly as well. My friend ordered two chai tea lattes and the triple chocolate cheesecake. My friend forgot to say almond milk for my latte and I asked the man who was making it to use almond milk and without any hesitation he did. The chai latte was really good. They make it in house and it had a lot of flavor. Definitely better than Starbucks 5/5. On the other hand, the cheesecake was a bit too rich for our liking. I actually didn't want the triple chocolate, I just couldn't finish my own. They had a wide variety of cheesecake and I highly recommend the others. They all looked good, but this one was just too much chocolate (which I suppose the name suggests). I think that this is a really nice family owned coffee shop. The owner is really passionate about the business and I think that he should definitely add a Birmingham location. He was a really nice guy and very excited about their hand sanitizer that his son had been certified to make. I highly recommend checking them and that out! I will definitely be back! read more

Second, I ordered a dirty chai latte and normally, I have to ask dozens of questions because I have an allergy to artificial sweeteners. I walk up to the cashier and ask him if it's made from a mix and he tells me that they make the chai from scratch everyday! The. He tells me that he'll go double check the ingredients and he went to the person who made the mix and asked. My drink was super spicy and strong -- like a chai should be! I could taste the cardamom! A great local coffee shop with a nice vibe. The coffee is always pretty and flavor packed, plus I love that it's served in glass if you plan to dine in. I've had a few pasties here and they were all VERY delicious. There is a lot of room to sit and work or mingle with friends but it's always pretty busy. My fav local coffee joint in downtown Rochester. They have plenty of chairs, sofas, tables for you to catch up with a friend or so some studying (free wi-fi). There's public and meter parking available so it's easy to get to. My classic is the Cortado with Oat Milk. Next time, I'll have to check out the Banana Nutella Cheesecake, which was highly recommended by some colleagues. The baristas are always very friendly and informative about the various roasts. There's a lot of locals that come in and families as well, which is a great mix of clients. On certain nights, they will have live bands playing which makes this place quite unique.
