I have loved getting my desserts from Deb for years. She even made me a special dessert for my birthday.

Deb is awesome and makes really great baked goodies! Every year at Thanksgiving my family requests pies from Desserts to Die For! Our family especially loves the Banana Cream Tart (pie) that she makes. It is so good. The crust is light and flaky, the bananas are just perfectly ripe, and the cream is a perfect touch. Not too sweet. Mmm! So good. If you are ever lucky enough to try her Cronuts they are the best! I've tried other places, but they do not compare to Deb's Cronuts. At Thanksgiving we ordered the Pumpkin pie, Pecan Caramel tart, Flourless Chocolate cake, and the Apple Pie. My husband is not a cake guy, but he could not stay away from the Flourless Chocolate cake. It was his favorite. And Deb is just an awesome human. She goes to a lot of events selling her goodies out of her hearse. It's super cute. read more

Not only a cute concept but DELICIOUS desserts!!! I went to the Food Truck festival this past Friday (third Friday of the month) at the Pacific View Mall near Trader Joe's. Desserts to Die For had a great hearse set up as their "food truck" and a large wooden coffin filled with their tasty desserts. They were all about $5 and easily shareable between two people. I ordered a Meyer Lemon tart and ate it the next evening. It still looked amazing and fresh and tasted wonderful!! That delicious lemon flavor in every bite on a buttery crust. So good!! My family and I plan on visiting the food truck fest again next month and we definitely plan on picking up goodies from Desserts to Die for!! read more

WOW! Deb Dawson creates incomparable hand crafted desserts. I ordered a pecan caramel tart which was so much better than any pecan pie I have ever had, it was on a different level. No more thin layer of pecans and a huge layer of karo syrup/sugar goop. Try three layers of wonderfully toasted pecans over a thin layer of caramel. Add a crust that was delicious on its own and absolutely in harmony with the pecan and caramel and you have perfection. I would have given more than 5 stars if I could. Deb's berry tart was delicious! My husband is very picky. He never likes the crust on pies. I hired Desserts to Die For for my clients 50th Birthday Diabolical Bash. First, of course, all the guests loved the hearse! Well, Yelp does not have more stars,,but Deb should. She is a true talent. She made about 17 tarts and many small bites as well as mushroom empanadas for a party we hosted in Montecito. Each dessert was made with love, delight, technique, and artistry. She is a super star baker and I feel so fortunate to have found her and hired her. Deb is professional, responsive and prompt to boot. She really blew me away with her culinary knowledge and delicacy. She is not a 1950's baker like every place in Santa Barbara. I was waiting outside Beacon Coffee in Ventura when I saw a hearse pull up. I watched a short haired blonde girl as she exited and headed to the rear of the hearse. She pulled out boxed pastries and it was then that I realized that she was making a delivery. The side of her delivery is stenciled with "Desserts to Die For". I did a search and read a bit about her business. I frequent Beacon coffee and had stared through the glass at the wonderful desserts. Although I had not tried any of them they looked wonderful. The next week I was at the Sat Ventura Farmer's Mkt. off of Palm when I once again saw the delivery car with Deb selling her yummy delights. I bought a slice of her lemon tart which she had made with limes on that day. I must say it was a flavor that took me back to my childhood as my mother baked lemon meringue pies. It had been many years since I enjoyed a lemon/lime dessert that rivaled my Mother's. I was very pleased with the balance of flavors. Tart lime against the powdered sugar topping and a perfect crust. Her prices are very reasonable and once you sample a dessert you will see that they are worth every penny. I am not sure if she is at the Farmer's Mkt. every week. Last week I asked about placing an order which she filled for me. As far as I know she does not have a store but does deliver to local businesses. I just picked up an entire lime tart that I will share with my friends at a Halloween gathering. I plan on ordering another tasty treat to take to my next party. Got two items for family Thanksgiving dinner: a blackberry pie, and a flourless chocolate cake. The blackberry pie is the best I've ever had in my life: Deb had some concern as blackberry season is over and she prefers to work with peak-season ingredients, but I am so incredibly grateful that she made the pie anyway, because it is PHENOMENAL. Tender, buttery crust, bright and complex fruit not over-sweetened but allowed to shine on its own merits--best pie ever. Also, the pie is HUGE, great value for the money. The flourless chocolate cake is dense and rich and beautifully balanced, I added a dollop of unsweetened whipped cream on top and some fresh raspberries as garnish: completely exquisite.
