While driving by Clemente Baking caught my eye and made me take a detour to stop in and check it out. It's a quant little space pumping out all things sourdough. With different variety of loafs from classic to sweet and savory options. Along with cookies and different grab and go treats. While I stopped in towards the end of the day the options were limited as they were sold out but I grab an oat loaf and it was amazing with my dinner option that night, with a toasted slice of oat loaf and some cold butter melting on top was amazing! read more

From the moment that I walked in, I knew I was in a very good bakery. The smell of beautiful sourdough bread permeate this entire storefront. If your bread number, give these guys a try. I went with a few friends to basically check out this new bakery. The smell in this place was just incredible. There is something so right about the smell of freshly made of bread. The two guys in there that helped me outstanding. Not only did they share with me some of their story, but they also spend some time to talk about Brett And why they love it so much. They had some homemade marmalade which was absolutely wonderful, and some incredibly different and fun compound butters. I was pretty full from lunch, but opted for a simple blueberry and oat cookie. The cookies texture was absolutely perfect: soft and chewy on the inside, and a little bit of crunch around the edge. The oat and blueberry was a fun and tasty combination. Honestly, these guys are great, and they make a phenomenal product. I will happily go here again when I'm in the area. read more

Clemente Baking recently celebrated their 1 year and has been putting out a lot of great new items, including one item in particular I have become a bit obsessed with - the asiago chive savory scone with Calabrian chile, it has a small kick but it is sooo good! Another new favorite is the citrus cake! I also recently tried the rustic rye bread and it is fantastic. I came in late and they were pretty much sold out on their loaves. I was really hoping for a sourdough loaf, but ended up getting their blueberry pistachio cookie instead. I know it was the end of the day, but the cookie already tasted a bit stale and old. And overall, was very sweet. Not one of my favorites. If I could do it over, I would have just left the $4 in my pocket and left. 2 stars for the help, and cute store layout. read more

Clemente is an awesome sourdough bakery. Usually three types of bread with one rotating. Really nice jams and a few excellent pastries and small pizzas that rotate frequently. Everything is perfection and it is clear they strive to put out the absolute best. A great selection of prime flours too. Oh and they have the game changer Mercer Bread Knife. A must have. read more

I saw someone's post on Nextdoor about this bakery, which sells organic sourdough breads and sweet treats. So I dropped by to see what they got. The owner/baker was the cashier at the time. He was nice and welcoming. The shop is small with a focused selection of bread, 3 types of sourdough, and some sweet treats like chocolate cookies, carrot cakes, sweet bars.. though they change the options daily. I got a loaf of country bread, and a chocolate chips cookie to try. The cookie is delicious, soft, and melts in your mouth. I made open sandwiches with leftover tri-tip steak using their bread. They were tasty. If you are a sourdough fan this bakery is definitely for you. I'm happy they use high quality, organic flour as their ingredients. Hot New Bakery Alert!! Clemente Bakery makes the most of their cozy quarters. They start with organic, quality ingredients and offer a variety of Sourdough loaves and baked sweet treats each day. I saw the line inside and had to pull over to try out this newcomer for myself. The woman behind the counter along with the other customers were so friendly but the smell of the baked bread is hypnotic! I must buy bread! Now for the bread- I selected the Sumac Cracked Peppercorn loaf, the smoked chili and black lime dipping oil and 2 trash can cookies because the gentleman in front of me talked them up. The sourdough loaf is perfectly crafted with chewy crust and lovely mild flavor. I didn't get any cracked peppercorn or sumac in the flavor profile but it was delicious and the smoked dipping oil was mild tasting as well. The trash can cookies are chocolate chip cookies spiked with potato chips and pretzel bits creating a sweet, slightly salty, addictive treat. Next time I have to try the flourless chocolate brownies. Highly recommend and I look forward to my next bread run! read more

It's wonderful to have a small bakery shop right here in Ventura. The bakery has a small retail area with a pastry display case and a rack with some baking good (flour, etc.) for sale. Awesome bakery, the workers/owner are very friendly, and the sourdough is excellent. We've only been able to buy the Sumac version since we onlly get there fairly late in the afternoon. Really a great bread with a lot of flavor. The breakfast loaf has been available but we have yet to try it. Went in a few weeks ago just as they were preparing to go home for the day. All the baked goods in the glass case were all wrapped up. I felt guilty...but they pretty much insisted. I purchased a few scones and as I was paying.....and I apologize because i don't know my brothers name.....but he comes out from the back with a loaf in his hand....snd asked if id like to have it. Just love the quality of this small bakery. My favorite is their country loaf, but also REALLY enjoyed their blue boule that had blue corn in it if I remember correctly. So yum with tortilla soup. Their thin chewy almond chocolate chip cookies are also so delicious. Also, SO friendly and happy to answer any questions about any of their products. I found this place by searching "best chocolate chip cookies" and the reviews didn't lie! They had a couple different types of cookies and a kiwi fruit bar when I went in, so I got one of each. They ended up being so good and not overly sweet. The second time I went in, I ended up getting a loaf of sourdough and a chili compound butter. Both were absolutely delicious. I'd heard about this new bakery opening in Ventura and had driven past their location only to see a Coming Soon sign. I was on my way to redeem a gift certificate to Ex Voto Chocolates today (yea!) and thought I'd pass by Clemente to check and they were open! so I flipped the car around and headed in. The counter man (the owner's uncle or dad, I can't remember which, but a really nice guy) told me that they were in a soft open. There were 3 types of bread on the counter and I chose a country batard. I also got flourless chocolate cake and a tahini chocolate chip cookie from the case. I had gotten 4 of the little flourless chocolate cakes to share and, luckily for the people I gave them to, I distributed them before tasting mine or I'd have eaten them all. They were so good, rich and very chocolatey. The tahini chocolate chip cookie was crisp, but tender and the tahini gave it an earthy taste, kind of like peanut butter. This added a bit more complexity and balance to the cookie. Very good. I just ate a couple, well three, slices of the batard and it was really nice. Chewy crust, soft inside with a mild sourdough taste. I just had it with butter, but I think it'll be awesome in sandwiches and for toast. it is a little too late to tl;dr, but the takeaway is go there and try it for yourself read more
