Shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii... Looking for a purple dress, I didn't expect to find one at Aloha Fabrics, but I did! Strolling around Dole Cannery, I saw clothing in the window. I thought that this was a hula supply store? Since I'm here, I should just take a look, right? Browsing the aisles that were filled with all kinds of merchandise like pareo, hair accessories, musical instruments, tube tops, lanyards, check book covers, hula skirts, etc., I found a rack of long mu'umu'u! I was excited to find a pretty lei print on lavender material with purple trim! Perfect! The nice man apologized that there was no dressing room. I estimated the length and width to figure what size to get. He said there's no refund and maybe I can come back for alteration? I think I'll fit! I also saw some coin purses that will make great party favors! I got a bunch and he gave me a discount for bulk purchase! Thank you! Wow... I wasn't expecting anything and this store is really terrific... they even have 100% cotton palaka fabric on bolts! I need to return when I'm ready to sew my next project! Can I say Palaka Heaven fabrics! Was looking all over for the red Palaka print, everywhere was sold out. Found this place on google, located in dole cannery shopping center. Lots of parking, and easy to find. Across Costco, so it can get super busy. They all the colors of Palaka, with other Hawaiian prints. They didn't have a lot of selection for Palaka clothing due to holidays, but it's ok they had the Palaka fabrics I wanted! Sooooo happy I found this place! Staff were so helpful, friendly, and attentive. They offer an array of Hawaiian wear, adults, and children. They supply hula dancers as well. Definitely coming back, as this store is very stocked. Went in to buy pa'u skirts for my little one's hula classes. The aunties offered to hem the skirt for her super fast, free of charge. They were super helpful and super sweet. We initially were looking in the front area, near the swap meet/tourist-y like styles, and they redirected us to the more traditional pa'u skirts on the back wall. I was super grateful. We ended up getting one of each cause my little one actually really liked one of the touristy ones read more

Purchased 5 skirts here just a few days ago. I asked if they offered any discounts since I was buying multiple skirts. The lady who helped us said they didn't because the skirts they sell are exclusive to their store and are all hand sewn by her...and we fell for it. Fast forward today and we find the same exact skirts at Aloha Stadium for 1/2 the price! I called the store and asked if we could return the skirts explaining how the lady that helped us gave us false information about the product. The person who answered the phone apologized but said they didn't offer refunds and all sales are final. I don't recall seeing that policy at their store or I would have taken that as a red flag. I don't mind paying top dollar for quality items and from honest retailers, but these folks lied to our faces which I find so shady and unethical. Totally feel swindled but lesson learned. Now writing this review so others can spare themselves from becoming a victim too! Visited this shop at Dole to see if they could help with hula costumes for my Keiki Hula class. HUGE selection of beautiful aloha print fabrics and very helpful staff. Eric was the first to greet me and helped me search the inventory for the right fabric and he reserved the bolts of our selected print - we got the last of it! Rose helped take down our order for 18 custom length pa'u skirts, solid pa'u tops, and even fern hair pieces! They made custom Aloha shirts for our boys out of the same material. Tess made certain our entire order was perfect - double checking the length of the skirt measurements and making a pro tip recommendation to line up all the hems just right. The sewing is very neat and they didn't trim off any fabric so the skirts came out nice and full. The most amazing part - our order for 20 custom hula costumes was done in ONE DAY! They had their booth at Hula Conference and were selling massive amounts of things: Skirts, Pa'u, Hula Implement Covers, EVERYTHING Hula you can think of. I was feeling a little broke so all I did was look and not buy... However, I bumped into them again at the Swap Meet and she recognized me. She cut me a deal. $22 for the skirt, $25 for a party Pa'u...that's CRAZY!!! She says she's at every Hula thing possible selling her stuff. This is a wonderful shop! I absolutely recommend it. I purchased several hair flowers and a crossbody purse from them. I was impressed with their selection, prices, and customer service. The owners, a husband and wife, were very personable (we talked about California, where we are from) and helpful. My mom purchased a lily hair ornament from them and I wanted a matching one. They didn't have another, but the owners were kind enough to look high and low throughout their inventory and shop for it. They even stayed open past closing for us (which I only realized after we left). I want to thank the owners for their kindness toward me. I plan on having my brother pick up some more hair flowers (which look real and I got many compliments on during a cruise) before he comes home for Christmas. Received the worst customer service by a female employee....... I picked 2 different materials and took it to the counter. Changed my mind after the nice lady started to unravel the material. Asked for her advice and she was nice enough to give me some great feedback. I started to look around again. Another lady shouted from across the store asking if I was going to purchase the material that was still unraveled on the counter. I told her I'm still looking. She starts lecturing me on how I cannot bring the material to them unless I am going to purchase it. I told her I was but changed my mind. I told her if she has a problem with that, I'll go elsewhere to shop and she said, okay....go. I told her she was very rude and as I was walking out, she kept on mumbling and complaining. Wow all I have to say is that I want everything in this store lol. The designs and fabric is just beautiful. The pau skirts for woman and children are wonderfully made. You can also hear the sewing machine going in the back by a women making clothes in that very store! They can custom make your skirt as you wait just pick your fabric. The prices are reasonable and affordable. I needed some fabric to sew a curtain and something for my niece. I left with a small flowered piece of fabric just to have, 3 yards of white fabric, two key chains, and a pau skirt for my niece. The lady working there was very polite and helpful. I'm going to bring my fiancé there so I can maybe get a wardrobe of a few pau skirts;) oh how I wish I knew how to sew. Their prints and designs are like no other. I love this business for many of my pareo and costume needs. The assortment is out of this world. A bit pricey, but most specialty shops are. Workers are always friendly. The new location is great except I didn't know where to park and ended up parking in the Dole Cannery area. The Aloha Fabric employee validated the ticket but the parking attendant did not accept it, stating Aloha Fabric is not able to validate and that we parked in the wrong garage. I stumbled upon this place on accident. I went to caterkids and saw the word "fabric" on the store front and it immediately caught my attention. I haven't danced hula since I was a little girl so I can't say anything about the hula supply if the prices are good or not but they had rows and rows of hula... Stuff. Sorry I don't know the names. Anyways, I went straight to the fabric and loved their prints and price. The owner says they print themselves. They were $3.50/yard.
