The courses are taught by instructors with student assistants. The sports course my sons took (basketball) was not intense and was mostly fun. I liked that a hot breakfast was included in the camp price and they were able to purchase lunch or bring their own if they stayed for the rest of the day. This camp is great for students who want to maintain academics with flexibility of weeks to choose from. My boys are very shy and the fact that they felt comfortable and enjoyed going to camp is another reason why I'm giving five stars.

During the pandemic, I had the added benefit of "monitoring" classes via Zoom and was absolutely astounded at the quality of education and repertoire presented in the most positive, fun ways I've ever witnessed. Because Dr. Misha, who has an incredibly extensive resume, teaches the students, they are exposed to the best immediately. Technique and musicianship are bundled up in so much singing, fun and respect! The music is ever-flowing and Dr. Misha is a wizard educator. These kids are getting such a high-quality foundation, it's an absolute no-brainer for us. Needless to say, we have continued through in person classes and there's not a kid that walks out of choir that isn't smiling. The executive director and virtuoso pianist, Dr. Krendel, does an outstanding job of finding extra, non-required live performance and recording studio opportunities for the kids (including performances on PBS, at the Kia Forum, sessions for UNICEF and much more) in addition to the outstanding winter and spring programs for the community. As the choirs are divided by age, there is plenty of room for social emotional and musical growth. Many friends will be made! Truly a home away from home. It is a private choir, and the value and investment in the students out-ways the cost. They do have scholarships. MUSYCA has already become and will continue to be one of the best investments in my child's education and growth as well as one of the best sources of amazing memories for our family.

Not so good: my child was bored. The fun shops (things like woodworking or arts and crafts) are rotated, so it's not like they're doing those activities back to back every day. I believe my child's class only went to the farm once a month. Their dance activity was just a YouTube video played in a classroom and the staff didn't participate. Pool time was unstructured - they weren't doing games or activities as a group or doing any sort of lessons. I don't expect them to be full-time entertainers and kids do need to learn to occupy themselves, but I was expecting a lot more based on what they presented camp would be. Some of it may have been the staff assigned to the group.

There is free parking and there is a gym...(the machines are at different parts of the area, some inside and outside), nice swimming pool and paddleball table. I think regarding the gym it's personal preference, because just my personal opinion I feel that the workout machines are just too close together in a small room, I'm not used to that. The machines however are great quality! They have a separate smaller room for cardio machines also. There are lots of outdoor tables and seats which is very nice.
