We had debated between going with Destination St John or AirBNB but ended up going with Destination St John because they had a newly renovated option.
We rented out Periwinkle and could not be happier with our experience (5++ stars for this lodging!). It is situated on top of a hill so you can see water from the living/dining room. The kitchen is very well equipped so you just have to make sure to buy your cooking ingredients (oil, food items, etc). We were really glad we stocked up in St Thomas before driving over because we found the grocery prices 3X higher in St John.
I thought they can help take care of jeep rentals, but when we called, they don't offer that. Also, you will definitely need a jeep in St John, I think only saw 1 non-jeep during our time here. Apparently, they book out far in advance in St John so we just rented ours in St Thomas.
We met our driver at the ferry and we were welcomed with a small welcome kit with prepared snacks from a local store. The villa was newly renovated and was equipped with everything we could need. Hair dryer, soap and shampoo (although I found their toiletries a bit drying so bring your own), ample towels, crisp sheets. I loved the interior design of the place. They even had a few board games which was a nice touch. Having laundry access (they even supply laundry detergent) was invaluable. I also appreciated that they supplied a broom, so we can do our own tidying as well during our stay.
Small hiccups: Booking and getting questions answered was not as streamlined, took several back and forth emails and phone calls. I couldn't get the inflatable jacuzzi (from pictures, I didn't realize it was an inflatable one) to ever heat up while I was there, and we did have a small ant problem. read more
