Working with Maggie Elles from Destination Weddings was honestly one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process. From our very first consultation, she made everything feel easy and exciting instead of overwhelming. We started working with Maggie in January 2025, so she was with us every step of the way leading up to our February 2026 wedding. She asked all the right questions--budget, vibe, guest count, priorities--and really took the time to understand what we wanted. After that, she sent us several amazing resort options across Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, Cancun, and Riviera Maya that all fit our vision so well. We ended up choosing Hard Rock Riviera Maya, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Our biggest priorities were great food and making sure our guests had reasonably priced rooms, and Maggie nailed both. We had about 70 guests, and she helped coordinate everything--from booking rooms to organizing transportation. She even handled special logistics, like arranging shuttles for our photo/video team coming from Playa del Carmen instead of the airport. One thing that really stood out was how easy she made the process for our guests. Between her clear communication and how smooth the Destination Weddings booking system is, everything felt super straightforward. We heard nothing but positive feedback from our guests about how easy it was to book and how helpful she was whenever they had questions. Maggie was always so responsive and patient, no matter how many questions I had (which was a lot). She's incredibly knowledgeable and clearly has great relationships with the resorts, which made a huge difference throughout the process. She was also completely transparent when it came to pricing and had no problem walking us through exactly how the financial side of everything worked, which gave us so much peace of mind. The only issue we had the entire trip was when my husband and I arrived and our room got mixed up. We had planned to have that first day to ourselves, but instead we were waiting for hours and then got a room that didn't feel right for our wedding stay. I reached out to Maggie, and she immediately jumped in and handled everything. She did not stop until it was fully resolved--and because of her, the resort upgraded us to the presidential suite for the entire week. Honestly, that ended up making our wedding week even more special than we imagined. She also surprised us with the sweetest gift basket filled with treats, tequila, and pool goodies, which was such a thoughtful touch. I truly can't say enough good things about Maggie. She made the whole experience feel smooth, fun, and stress-free, and she went above and beyond every step of the way. My now husband and I decided about 2 years ago, after a trip to Riveria Maya, that we wanted to have a destination wedding in that area. When we started doing our own research we found it extremely daunting with all of the options for weddings in Mexico. We had a vision of our dream, but without being able to see each venue in person it was definitely challenge. I searched for assistance on google and came across Destination Weddings. Little did I know making the decision to use them would, up until the day of the wedding, make our experience non-stressful and to be honest really enjoyable. Soon after filling out our information on the site we were paired with Sandy Patrzykont. She reached out quickly and was able to take our vision and provide a few venues that were in our price range and that met the tropical aesthetic we were longing for. Due to previous commitments we were unable to visit the location ourselves, but Sandy assisted with setting up a trip and visit for my mom and dad. From the airport pick up to their beautiful room and the coordination to have an onsight tour from the wedding department. Sandy treated our family as if it were us, the bride and groom, on this first trip. Luckily this trip was the final and we selected the resort Sandy had recommended. In the months to come Sandy assisted all of our guests with their questions about booking their rooms to the on going questions about transportation from Cancun to Tulum, which is quiet a distance. Sandy kept in contact every step of the way and was quick to respond to ever email we sent even in the days leading up to the wedding. There is one specific instance where she blew any expectations out of the water. A guest coming to our wedding had some passport trouble and Sandy worked tirelessly to ensure that when the problem was solved she was able to get from the airport to the resort. and that her check in to the resort would be seamless. This all occurred the day before the wedding and this guest was arriving very late in the evening. My husband and I are so thankful for Sandy and for the support that the Destination Wedding service provides. I would highly recommend Destination Weddings to anyone who is planning a destination wedding. They allow you to enjoy the process and just worry about the reason the wedding is happening and who you are marrying! read more

Review: We started planning our wedding March 2022. I submitted the request for information in the website of destinationwedding.com and within 24 hours we got Melissa assigned to us. We had a lovely conversation with her. We consulted with another company and even mentioned to Melissa this was happening and she respected this decision. But within the first 2 minutes of talking with the other company we decided to go with Melissa. We connected and communicated very well with Melissa. Melissa was wonderful to work with. We had many questions and she was able to answer them within 24 hours. The tour operator and destination weddings were able to provide us with quotes and enquiries in a great timely manner. During the planning I had something I called "Freak out Fridays". When I felt the weekend coming on Fridays, I freaked out and emailed Melissa about questions or concerns that occurred to me. And Melissa was able to assist me even on the weekends. It was not my intention to have her work on the weekends but that's the timing when I freaked out. I am very thankful for this. She even helped us and our guests (around 50) during her holidays. She was so kind and we truly put our trust in her. It is hard to plan a destination wedding where you haven't seen the place you are getting married but Melissa was able to put our mind at ease. She assisted our guests on their bookings and many concerns. She also connected us with the resort and ensured the communication with them was fast and smooth. Melissa was attentive to our needs, details, and dream wedding. I would recommend her 1000%. In fact, I have provided her information multiple times. Destination Weddings is the worst. Horrible customer service by their representative Carrie Peterson. My nephew was due to get married in Costa Rica in April of 2020, but when COVID-19 hit, it was canceled. They rescheduled for December of 2020. While we were able to go on the new date, we weren't able to go for the amount of time we originally scheduled. It took Carrie 2 months to finally tell me whether she was going to refund me the difference, which I finally got. She also advised me to take out travel insurance when we re-booked for December. Then when I went to re-book a few days later, she tells me that "oh, so sorry, if you didn't take out insurance with the original booking, then you can't with the re-book, because the company views that as insurance fraud". My radar went up at that point, but she had me over a barrel at that point. Fast forward to December 2020. Guess what? Wedding gets canceled again due to COVID-19. Now it's re-scheduled for June 2021. We are unable to travel in June. Tell this to Carrie, and she basically says, oh that's too bad, the rooms are non-refundable!!! In other words, I'm stuck paying $1310 for a trip that I can't take!! Please explain to me how you gave me money back a few months earlier for days I couldn't use, but now won't refund the rest of it now that I can't go at all??!!! It's all the same trip. She gave me some B.S. how this has to do with the hotel & their stipulations. I told her I don't believe that, since it says right on the hotel website that if you cancel within 72 hours of arrival, you would get a full refund. That this is not a hotel issue, but a Destination Weddings issue, as a third party. Most likely, if she refunded me everything, she would also have to give back her commission. Told her that any travel that was canceled due to COVID it should be a no-brainer, that the customer should get refunded. Pretty lousy that Destination Weddings would do business like this. Would never recommend them or Carrie Peterson. Lesson learned. read more

We had a wonderful experience planning our wedding with the Destination Weddings team. We were originally referred by a friend who had used them, and we began looking into their website. After filling out a short questionnaire of what we wanted, Christine Scholander quickly responded and helped lay the groundwork for our wedding getaway. She was extremely helpful when it came to selecting the right venue. We got enough options that we could find everything we were looking for without being overwhelmed. Christine gave us pros and cons of each, and made sure we were clear with the next steps after booking a resort and date. Destination Weddings made the booking process for our room block easy. They walked us through all of the contracts and deposits. Destination Weddings was an excellent middle man and took a lot of the burden off of our shoulders. That included Rene Willis, who helped us book rooms and coordinate with the wedding team on-site. Rene was quick to answer any and all questions we had. She also helped our guests with booking rooms and travel arrangements, so we didn't have to. That included helping our guests upgrade to rooms that weren't originally in our room block. Shuttle arrangements to and from the airport was also a fantastic perk. Rene handled all of that setup and gave clear instructions to all of our guests for what they needed and should expect when traveling. Communication between Rene, us and our guests was one of the biggest advantages throughout the planning process. Rene also helped us book an excursion on the resort. She got us a quote and booked everything very efficiently. I was glad we leaned on her for this - the excursion was one of the highlights of our trip. Between planning, travel and bills, we never felt disconnected or unsure of what we needed to do thanks to Destination Weddings. I would absolutely recommend Christine, Rene and their team if you're considering a destination wedding. read more

Working with Maggie was nothing short of amazing, and I would highly recommend her services to anyone. She consistently went above and beyond her duties from the beginning to the end of our engagement. My journey with Maggie started about a year and a half before my wedding date when I was initially searching for information about destination weddings. At that point, all I knew was that I wanted a destination wedding, but I had no idea where to start. When I reached out to Maggie, she asked insightful questions to help narrow down the potential destinations and hotels that would best suit my needs. She then sent well-organized emails detailing various locations and each hotel that met my criteria. Each hotel's email included comprehensive information about the amenities and the cost of the wedding based on the number of attendees. Her meticulous organization impressed me right from the start. Throughout the rest of my journey, Maggie wore multiple hats for me: she was my advisor, advocate, therapist, and sometimes even felt like a really good friend. She made the taxing task of wedding planning much more bearable. My only advice to others using Maggie's services would be to inform their guests about Maggie's role and that she is not being paid by us directly. Some of my guests assumed she was my wedding planner, paid by me, and working for the hotel. Once I explained Maggie's actual duties and asked for their patience, most of them were more understanding. It's also important to remember that Maggie is human, with days off and the occasional sick day like everyone else. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would choose Maggie every single time. She is phenomenal, and although I'm thrilled that the wedding planning is over, I will certainly miss Maggie's warm and welcoming presence during our phone calls. Elise...let me start with her. Possibly not a great" travel agent" , if there is someone less great, they should get an award. Elise misled us throughout our whole experience. Her responsiveness in returning calls, providing updates, and addressing inquiries, even those requiring straightforward yes or no responses, was notably delayed. She dragged on correspondence to the point it became to late to adjust to the situation. We selected destination weddings.com, as they were offering a discount of $2500 on wedding planning services. Unfortunately, the advertised terms were not upheld, and we were informed that the advertisement pertained to a different wedding package. Given the advanced stage of our planning, including the purchase of flights, cancellation was no longer feasible. Due to an inability to contact "Elise," the travel agent, the wedding trip was ultimately canceled, for severalof our guests. Regarding the hotel's relocation, while the announcement was made with sufficient notice for adjustments, it does not absolve "Elise," the "travel agent," from maintaining contact with clients and providing updates on the matter. Due to the travel agent Elise's inadequate communication with our guests regarding the issues, numerous individuals were compelled to cancel their plans. This was because they lacked reassurance about room availability at the hotel, and naturally, prices increased expedentially. read more

My husband and I just got married in July 2025 and we had such an amazing experience working with Destination Weddings throughout the past year! Our specialist was Rene Wills and she made this process very seamless and stress free for us from beginning to end. We greatly appreciated her support with communicating with the wedding department at our resort early on in this process for us, and also for coordinating all of the necessary transportation for us and all of our wedding guests. Partnering with Destination Weddings and Rene made a lot of the logistical part of the wedding planning process run smoothly for us, and eliminated any extra stress that we could have potentially encountered due to any issues/changes with our wedding block at the resort. One of the many things my husband and I value as a couple is open communication and we greatly appreciated Rene's open line of timely communication with us throughout the entire process. Rene responded very quickly and professionally when it came to emails, scheduling phone calls, and communicating with both the reservation and wedding department at our resort. Wish I could leave zero stars. We paid Destination Weddings to attend a family members wedding in Cancun, that was originally supposed to be in July of 2020. Everything was paid for and fine (had to be paid for by a certain date to insure hotel rooms ). Due to the pandemic, the wedding was postponed for another year, and we were unable to attend. We immediately requested a refund, believing in full faith that we would be given our money back since we HAD INSURANCE! After nearly TWO YEARS and a series of excuses and lies from the contact person we have had through this ordeal, we still have not received our refund!!! She recently even told us that the company, Travel Impressions, that charged our card on behalf of Destination Weddings, did not charge the card. We have credit card statements and calls with the credit card company to prove otherwise. It has been two years of lies to try and drag out giving a refund. The whole thing has been one giant headache. UPDATE 1-15-22: In response to your reply: We have an invoice from DW for almost $400 for insurance. If you could please give me your contact information, I would love to discuss this in more detail. UPDATE 3-12-22: They admitted that we had insurance on ALL travelers. After over a month of back and forth, sending everything they requested, still no refund. read more

My husband and I worked with Shari Dickinson - Shari was an amazing partner right from the start. She went through multiple rounds of resort hunting with us us find a place that fit our wants & worked for our group at an awesome price. When we initially started planning in Jan 2020, we were looking at a May 2021 date. Unfortunately we had to push the event to May 2022, but Shari totally took the reins for us in communicating the impact of the change to all our guests and getting everyone's reservations moved. It was a huge relief to not have to deal with that piece of it on top of all the other emotions/things we were facing! When we finally did travel in May 2022, Shari made sure everything was seamless and wonderful. Our group did run up against a few travel issues & small problems at the resort, none of which were the fault of DW or Shari; regardless, Shari was quick to jump on the phone and call anyone we needed, often unprompted to boot. Booked my destination wedding to Riviera Maya, Mexico. Our travel agen from Destination Weddings, Andrea Coots, was wonderful. From day one she was so helpful, she helped me find my resort for my wedding that had availability on the day I wanted. Turns out it was the same resort she got married at, so she had a lot of info to share. She worked to get all my friends and family booked for their rooms and transportation; I know they didn't make it easy on her. And from the final moments she made sure ever was running smoothly once we arrived. Noone had any issues getting to the resort or getting their rooms. Also, the Loma's travel that they partnered with was amazing! Our friends and family got shared transportation, which they all said was fine, but my husband and I got private cars to take us to the resort and back to the airport and they even helped us get our bags checked in at the airport! It was literally the best week of my life and I am so glad I didn't have to worry about any issues with our guests arrivals. If you're looking to have a destination wedding you should really book with Destination Weddings, but specifically get Andrea Coots! read more

We booked a trip to Costa Rica for a wedding shortly before Covid hit. Unfortunately Costa Rica shut down travel into the country a week before we were scheduled to leave. We did not get travelers insurance so we were unable to get a refund. Fortunately Carrie Peterson and Destination Weddings worked with us to change to a new destination, at a later date, so we planned to visit Jamaica in December. Many of the guests were traveling from states that had heavy Covid restrictions on re-entry into the states during December, so we rescheduled the dates again. This time for June. After a ton of back and forth with different travel restrictions finally easing up, we were all set to go on our trip. A week before, we were given the news that the bride and groom could not attend due to a medical emergency. I was hoping to reschedule yet again, but we did not purchase the travelers insurance and weren't entitled to a refund so we decided to go anyway. Carrie helped set up our transfers, and everything moved smoothly. Given the unfortunate circumstances, We had a great week away with a party of 7, and ran into no issues whatsoever. read more

From the very first conversation that we had, all the way through our wedding, we were absolutely blown away! She was so kind, informative and responded very quickly. She went above and beyond to help us get the best deal with our dream resort. It honestly felt like she was our friend that was helping us plan our wedding together. Besides our exceptional experience with Brittany, we also heard so many compliments from our family and friends that she was great to work with and gave multiple options to help our guests as well.
