Our appointment was at 12 they took us in at 2. And we had told them that we would come and pick off papers and they said no. Came here for the first visit for a cleaning. The office apparently obtained wrong insurance record from my dental insurance, and showed me the estimate for hundreds of dollars. Despite me showing them zero patient copays right on my phone, they insisted that I pay at least for the X-ray they already did as the condition of any procedure including cleaning - which was also supposed to be free. When I told them that it must be a mistake and here's my insurance portal showing zero copays for both cleaning and x-rays, they told me not to come again and banned me from their office. read more

The first time I took my kids there for a cleaning, everything was great. Dr. spent time with each of my kids. But the 6 month follow up sucked. I just had to have a CT Scan of my sinuses done due to trouble breathing and I was alerted that I had a seriously infected tooth that needed to be treated and was pushing on my sinuses (That this office I guess didn't pick up on?). I was uncomfortable with this office so I found a new office but MARIA the Manager literally refused to transfer my X-Rays! The front desk said I had to fill out a release form but apparently it had to be "Emailed only" I asked when they could send me the forms- Well they handed the phone to the Manager Maria and immediately it's clear that this woman has no customer service skills at all. She said how they were too busy and I said, "I just want the release form by the end of the day if possible (I WAS SUPER NICE ABOUT IT) and she literally told me, "We don't have to do anything" I told her that the new dental office said I was legally allowed to have my Xrays transferred, which are a lot- this office took 18 Xrays. She got incredibly snarky and said, "We legally dont have to do anything for 15 days, sorry" However she gets to bypass the legal amount of 15 days to comply because they're refusing to send me my release form! It's insane, I don't know if they're mad that I'm not coming back to them but now it's a dilemma because Maria actually said, "Let the new office take new Xrays" She should know as the owner of Destiny Dental that insurance doesn't pay for Xrays everytime you go to the Dentist! This manager is absolutely ridiculous and unreasonable. All I want is my release form but she found a loophole to avoid sending my Xrays in the 15 day regulation period... simply because I never received my records release..because she's NOT sending it. I talked with a free lawyer and they advised me to first to file a complaint with the state before anything. The fact that this person is the Manager/Owner is astounding to me and judging from other reviews, apparantly I wasn't the only one who had issues with her* I had such a weird experience that for the first time in a long time on Yelp I had to leave a review. I went in mainly because I chipped part of my front tooth. There was a wait but I've worked in a hospital most of my life so that part didn't bother me too much (although I almost had to leave because it was cutting into another appointment that day) However the awkward problems I ran into are, when the dentist fixed my chipped tooth which was just small on the corner of my front tooth, she literally put a small ball on the back of the front tooth with composite. My gums were numb so I didn't notice until a few hours later but she made it so big in the back of my front tooth that I couldn't close my mouth! I mean this literally, I could NOT close my mouth to chew, my back teeth wouldn't meet. I called the office a few hours later and I don't know her name but I thought it was the manager (but It wasn't, I believe her name was Cynthia but she was great) she was actually was really accommodating and nice about it. They told me to come in the very next day and they'd fix it. The dentist seemed visibly irritated when I sat down in the chair the next day and when she started removing it little by little, she'd say she was finished but I kept saying, "No, look I can't close my mouth" She finally removed the entire ball and to my astonishment, her exact words to me were, "Well every dentist is different but I put that on there so you wouldn't grind your teeth" I told her but I couldn't close my mouth but she just again said how every dentist is different. Another thing that was odd was, she said I had a few cavities in the back. When I noticed the numbers of the teeth in back (I wrote it down for my records) but I asked her, "Wait, I believe those are the teeth I already have a filling in?" She said no, it's a cavity. Well it was already getting a little late so I had mentioned that I'd prefer to wait and just do the chipped front tooth. The thing is, the dentist I used to go to doesn't accept this new insurance but he still takes care of my father. When I recently took my father to the dentist, I had mentioned what the dentist said and without charging me, he told me to sit in the chair and he'd look quickly....he said, "You don't have any cavities to fill" I asked if he was sure, he said, your fillings in the back are perfectly intact, there's nothing to fill and no cavities. I don't know maybe the dentist is just super swamped and in a rush but that freaked me out a little so I'd definitely be hesitant to ever go in there again. Plus I've had an awful taste in my mouth for week already (I had the composite last week there) and it started after the filling, I was told theres a chance it was cured all the way or a problem with the resin but at this point, Im just gonna explain the situation to the insurance and ask them to help me find another dentist who can look at the composite filling (chipped front tooth) she fixed. read more

This review is only for the manager at the front. The dentist and the rest of the staff are kind, professional and very nice. The manager needs to learn customer service, I'm surprised the dentist hasn't fired her because after our treatment is done we aren't coming back purely due to how rude, mean and highly unprofessional the manager is. In the past when the clinic was running behind, we have waited and never said anything. But when we ran late coming to our appointment once, the manager screamed when we arrived and said "you're late!" It was highly embarrassing and we have never been treated like that. We also own a medical clinic - we don't talk to our patients that way. The manager has also made it difficult to facilitate routine antibiotic prophylaxis to be prescribed to prevent the risk of endocarditis in a patient with known heart disease. We have called our surgeon to prescribe it for us, this is insane. The manager needs to go. read more

I recently visited Destiny dental, Niles location. It was a bad experience. The office manager is very unprofessional and rude. I went for regular cleaning, which took more than an hour. Actual process was only for 20 min or so, rest was all waiting. Dr. is good but overall very bad customer service there. If you don't mind unprofessional attitude and long wait time, this place might be okay for you. Otherwise, save yourself and book somewhere else. read more

It has been quite a long time since I've written a 1-star review--especially one so heinous. After years of writing reviews, I have come to realize the damage reviews can cause and recognize that businesses are run and employed by humans who make mistakes or have bad days. My experience at Destiny Dental, however, was so incredibly horrifying that I cannot be silent. As you can see from my previous reviews, I had loved my experiences at Destiny Dental and those experiences really made me feel like I didn't have to fear visiting the dentist. Needless to say, I will never be returning to Destiny Dental. I called to make my biannual teeth cleaning appointment and decided to bring my fiance along as well. The receptionist I spoke to on the phone was wonderful and informative--letting me know that the last two dentists I had seen were no longer with the office. She assured me that the dentist I would have today would be just as great as the other two dentists. The first time frame she offered did not allow my fiance and I to be taken at the same time. I intentionally wanted to schedule our cleanings together, so that we could leave around the same time. I am acknowledging fully that I ASSUMED that if our appointment was at the SAME TIME FRAME, we would be seeing two different dentists (this is an important piece for later in the review). After taking his insurance information, she let me know that she would double check our insurance coverage and call us back if there were any issues--I assumed this would be done prior to our visit, seeing as though I booked two weeks in advance. I asked the receptionist what precautions the office was taking in regards to COVID-19. She kindly explained that the waiting room and each patient room was sanitized between each patient, and that upon arrival, we would need to call and indicate we arrived to confirm we could enter. They also provide a COVID questionnaire and check your temperature. I thought these were great precautions and I appreciated their effort. My fiance and I arrived for our 2pm appointments, called the office, and were told to enter. We were told to sit and wait. Because this was not my first visit, I was taken in first--with the temperature screening and COVID questionnaire, while my fiance needed to fill out paperwork. My teeth cleaning was not as enjoyable as previous visits. The patient room seemed dull, in need of updating, and essentially lackluster. My dentist was kind and informative; however, she seemed to be in quite a rush and rough on my teeth. This is understandable though, because as it turns out, she is THE ONLY dentist in the office. Clearly, she is overworked with the sheer number of patients she is seeing back to back. Anyway, she finished my cleaning around 2:40pm, I received my goodie bag, and I went back into the waiting room, expecting my fiance to come out not too long after. About 5 minutes, the office manager came out and asked if I was waiting for something--I told her I was waiting for my fiance. Afterwards, I realized that the office staff was murmuring about not being able to get ahold of my fiance's insurance information and a lot of confusion. I was under the impression that my fiance would be finished soon because once again, if we both have the same appointment time, it is LOGICAL to assume that we would both get a cleaning AT THE SAME TIME. But hearing this insurance issue, I texted him and told him I forwarded him his insurance card, since the front office seems to be having issues with it. His response was "Well, I hope I'm not just sitting here because of it"--meaning it has been over 45 minutes since our arrival and he did not even begin his teeth cleaning yet. Meanwhile, the office is still scrambling to figure out his insurance--which I was told would have been figured out prior to our visit. And patients are in the waiting room not being able to be admitted because their temperatures are too high...because their AC isn't cold enough with the bright sun shining through the windows...or maybe because they have COVID hmm... Speaking of which, in the span of 30+ minutes I was sitting in the waiting room, not a SINGLE surface was disinfected nor cleaned. Fast forward to 3:15pm--it had been an hour and 15 minutes since our arrival and my fiance was still not finished with his cleaning. And this is where the World Star Hip Hop situation begins. I had a tooth ache and decided to go here because it was near my house. The young dentist I didn't get her name was very rushy acted as if she can only speak to me for 35 seconds. Its almost like make a decision now or get out. The final decision was to come back in 2 days and get my tooth pulled. I was so freaked our couldn't sleep for 2 nights. Had an appointment at 6pm on a Thursday to pull the tooth. Got seen at 7pm an hour of waiting. The dentist came in and I told her I wanted a second opinion and it didn't go well from there. Long story short I paid $100 to go see a specialist for a 2nd opinion and honestly he said my tooth was fine. I'm so done with destiny dental.save your money and time because you will get rushed to make a decision, to talk, to get out. read more

Destiny Dental has a lot of potential. But one bad apple makes all the other apples bad. The one located at Niles, IL has amazing doctors and front desk people are sweet. EXPECT FOR FRONT DESK MANAGER (Maria) If you read the reviews going all the way back 5 years ago. You'll notice a pattern with this person. I've made multiple reviews so the company themselves can look into it. I wouldn't have made a big deal if they didn't drop me as their provider on Jan 16 AND THEN kept charging me the next month, even though they dropped me and still taking from my account , when I was told they will refund me everything and still harassing me by taking money in my account I didnt have and a service that was never provided. I'm sorry for the people that work there and have to deal with this situation that Maria keeps putting them through. Like I said, has great potential, just that one bad apple. Is it worth it at this point to deal with someone's behavior and keep dealing with this occurring problem, versus thinking what's best for the patients? I do agree with this post before, by Isabelle made on google and the one made by Felice, the manager Maria C. claimed she spoke to my mother and she never did, I know for a fact because my dad's number was put under both my mother's and father's account and had that changed today. She never explained any pricing or having to send crowns back to the lab for my sister. She reveled information to me in regards to my sister's issue that she should of spoke to my mother about or not I until I give any sorts of documentation of how I am a legal guardian, which I have not given. Which is a violation of HIPPA. Both the manager and the front desk lady were super rude and said, "No i don't think YOU get my point" in a rude tone when I explain to them what I was misinformed on and how the dental assistant gave me the wrong information on who can bring my younger sister to appointments. I had to to tell the manger stop speaking to me like I was someone stupid and had to establish that I was educated and how practices should work in order for her to speak to me right. And I shouldn't have to do that, if you're a Doctor, you should follow the professional code of conduct. The only doctor that was amazing there was the Indian doctor that I saw, she was very professional and sweet. I started coming back to this place because I used to come here a lot growing up, but it really changed once it was bought out by this company, they even provided me with poorly made replacement retainers that costed me $300 and didn't even cover the entire tooth of some of my teeth and it broke so quickly, my teeth have started to shift, who's going to fix that? Thus, when I had my PPO insurance through my job I never experienced such unprofessionalism from a practice in my life from doctors downtown Chicago. Last time I went I was suppose to get some sort of fluoride treatment and the other person brushed it off and said they weren't going to do it anymore because it isn't that important. I'm sure this place commits insurance fraud too. Is that why they have a no cell phone policy? I just remember seeing this sign today, that's pretty odd. I will be following up for a fact with the ADA/CODA about compliance, so shocked by how this practice operates when treating patients by yelling and screaming at them and dismissing us from their office because they are simply wrong. My little sister came out crying from the practice today, so sad. It seems pretty common that the manager has anger issues and are expressed upon in multiple reviews. If I could give no stars I would. This place used to be amazing when it was Dental Magic. Super sweet receptionists and hygienists. Caring dentist. All of the old employees seem to have left or been let go since Destiny Dental purchased the business. Now they hardly greet you almost to the point of being rude. There's no care bag like most dentist offices give - no toothbrush or floss. They try to get you out as quickly as possible. And they lie about having cavities. All of my coworkers and I used to come here because of the convenience and the care, now we are all leaving to nearby Old Orchard Smiles. I DO NOT recommend this place. The rooms are never as clean as they use to with the new owners there was a piece of hair in on of the trays. My experience at Destiny Dental in June of 2022 was really positive. I filled out an online request for an appointment and received a call that same day. The person on the other end of the line was very patient with me, waiting for me to access my calendar in order to select an appropriate time slot. When I arrived on the day of the appointment, the person at the front desk was friendly and efficient. I waited only about 10 minutes before an assistant called be back for X-rays. She too was most patient with me when my gag reflexes surfaced during rear teeth x-rays. I saw Dr. A who was kind, but professional. She listened to my concerns and performed what I believe to be good work. Thereafter, she referred me to an oral surgeon who was booked 6 months into the future. However, because of the comments she wrote on the referral sheet, I was seen by the surgeon the following week. I had nothing but a positive experience and will certainly return to this facility. What a great dental office!! Everyone is so nice, the receptionist girl Corey is so helpful getting me appointments when I need them (even on short notice), and is very knowledgeable about the services they do. Christina is the dental assistant and she is awesome, always checking on you and making sure you're comfortable, and she's really good at x-rays and polishing during cleanings. The doctor lady is amazing and does a great job, she really knows what she's doing and makes you feel relaxed. Definitely would recommend people go here for your dentist, best one I've been to! read more

I went in for a check up because I had chipped a tooth and the lady on the phone was very rude to my mom and me. She seemed like she knows everything. She gives rude attitude and is very unprofessional, she wear Nike flip flops around the office which is disgusting especially during times like theses. Another time my mom tried to call because I was having tooth pains and she told my mom I must be lying because there was no way I could have pain in the tooth. She is very rude gives attitude and lies. She claims she called my mom and left a message when in fact she didn't. When I went in I needed to get a couple root canals. My first one they ruined my shirt and now has a bleach stain. My mom called and left a message about the stain and I got no apology or anything for my damaged property. My 3rd root canal the doctor waited so long to start my root canal after giving me numbing medicine that in the middle of it my numbing medicine wore off, I rose my hand and told her it hurt and she failed to listen and kept going to the point where I had a breakdown in the chair and started to freak out. I used to come here when it was Dental Magic and the staff was great. I came here after the buy out and was very disappointed. Not only was I not told the dentist's name who would be working with me (since the staff is all different now), but he never even introduced himself. Coming from someone who's in school for a healthcare-related field, that is VERY unprofessional. He wasn't a particularly friendly guy (still never got his name)...So I decided to just not go back. This cleaning visit was in December I believe. Now it's June and suddenly I get a bill for $77 even though my insurance covers routine cleaning and checkups. I just tried calling their office and the lady who answered said "just one second" and put me on hold. Then hung up on me after about 30 seconds. I immediately called back and it went to voicemail.
