During this time, a second hygienist made joking comments and laughed about our child's distress, which felt unprofessional and dismissive. When we chose to end the visit, we were told "it will be the same next time," rather than discussing alternative, child-centered approaches. This was surprising, as we have had very different experiences at other pediatric dental practices where first visits focus on comfort, narration, and gradual exposure rather than restraint. There is a beautiful mural when you walk in and also a salt water fish tank. It is extremely clean and welcoming inside: there is a book nook, pac man machine, coloring station, and Etch-a-Sketch in the waiting area. In the rooms, there is a cartoon playing on the ceiling to occupy the kids. After each visit, there is a goodie bag, balloon, and stickers! Our daughter actually looks forward to going to the dentist and leaves each time beaming and proud. Zina at the front desk is ah-mazing. She has been there since the beginning and is always super sweet, personable, and helpful. The hygienists and dentists are professional, friendly and do a thorough job. My 10 AM Wednesday cleaning was an absolute nightmare. Dr. Khan performed the cleaning far too aggressively, while his assistant completely neglected the suction hose, letting water pool in my mouth. It got worse when the assistant took over to polish. She was incredibly rough, piled dental materials right onto my cheek, and splattered water all over my face and neck. When I complained at checkout, the manager refused to give me the assistant's name and casually mentioned that their actual hygienist doesn't work on Wednesdays. If I had known an untrained assistant was going to do the job, I never would have come. If this had been a child's first visit, they would be traumatized. My family and I are officially looking for a new dental office. It is incredibly disheartening to see a business we trusted for years completely disregard patient comfort and basic customer service. Save yourself the trouble and avoid scheduling any appointments here on Wednesdays!
