Details by Lisa was recommended to us by our breeder as they drive 20 minutes just to get to her. We live close by and couldn't be happier. Our dog, who is normally a nervous nelly, is always calm when she goes to get groomed. Super happy to have found this place!

BEWARE OF THIS GROOMER: The wife and I just took our little one to Lisa and after picking him up we noticed there was a deep cut by his ear. We were never made aware of this or any other issues, therefore came back to follow up with her. Lisa immediately responded with "oh yea I saw that" when I came back to question her and she proceeded to call her assistant over. When the assistant finally came over and was asked about the cut he said he knew about it and already put medication on it. He stated it was a "scab" that came off when they were cleaning his ears which didn't make sense considering my dog never had scabs. After giving them the benefit of the doubt they reassured me it was nothing. Considering it was a deep cut we ended up in the Animal Hospital... 2 staples and 300+ dollars later on top of the 90 we paid Lisa. The vets ended up telling us that it was a laceration from the clippers that made that cut and they found more cuts by his legs. Shoddy and rushed job that caused our little one pain. Didn't have the decency to even tell us about his cut. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Still waiting to hear back from Lisa...

Highly Recommend Details by Lisa for all dog grooming needs! I used to bring my 12 year old Llhasa Apso/Shitzu mix to Petco, but after our last experience of him being stuck in a cage for 3+ hours, I will never go back. I reached out to several groomers through Yelp and Lisa was the most accommodating when I was looking for appointments. When I brought my pup in he was a little scared at first but Lisa was very sweet and calm with my little man. The entire appointment took under an hour and he was never stuck in a cage, I've never seen him so calm and happy after a grooming appointment! Lisa has been grooming our pup Stanley for several years now. She does an amazing job! He always look fluffy and is trimmed perfectly. I can't recommend her highly enough! She's also a really cool and great to work with owner. Super attentive and communicative. She is the only groomer we go to.

So happy to have found Details by Lisa for my sweet Havapoo Teddie. They did an excellent job giving him a nice haircut and he smells amazing! I love how you walk in and everything is visible and the dogs are free to walk around. I have been skeptical in the past with another local groomer in town as it seems there grooming operation is top secret which leads me to believe they may not be the most hygienic. Details by Lisa was extremely clean Teddie left with a Avengers bandana which was a nice added touch! We will definitely be back every month for his regular grooming! Thank you + welcome to town!

I just moved back home and was in desperate need for dog grooming services for my 2 pups. All the groomers I used in the past in JC/Hobo were all booked and would be able to fit me earliest in 2 months. I started researching for pet groomers in the area through yelp and details by lisa was one of the first to respond and get me an appointment that same week. They were fast (finished both dogs in 2 hours) and took care to follow my instructions for how I wanted the dogs cut. They took great care of my two dogs (11 yo yorkie / 3 yo spitz mix rescue). They also have open separated areas where they keep the dogs so they are not locked up in a cage. I would 100% recommend if you are looking for a groomer!

First time and one of the better cuts our cockapoo Brandi ever had. Very nice cut, ears relatively clean and nails trimmed. Yes, it's the first and we experienced a great "first cut" and then not so good. That's why we have no issue looking for a good consistent groomer. We will go back to Details by Lisa and if consistent, continue and update our experience. Again, we will post on subsequent cuts. read more

Lisa is a skilled and friendly professional who seems to have established a thriving business. She will do what she can to accommodate her customers and work with my schedule. My dog, Alfie, has received a very good haircut each time. He's soft, clean, and fresh looking. I appreciate that she uses non-allergic shampoo as his skin is sensitive. Friendly and gentle with my 6 mo old puppy for his first grooming appointment. Little guy looks sharp and I know he was in good hands. I will definitely be back. Free and easy street parking right up front and the shop and is neat and tidy. I drove over 20 minutes from Montclair and worth the short drive. Lots of shops to see and great walking area. Lisa is the BEST!!! I first want to start by saying that I used to take my dog (mini golden doodle) to a groomer that would take several dogs at a time. He would be there all day and would come out very anxious. When I heard about Lisa's place, I learned that she only takes 1 or 2 dogs at a time so it's quicker and more efficient. Not to mention, she does such a great job. My dog is so much happier going there and so am I! read more

We provide a stress-free grooming that is aimed for puppies and elderly pets as well as pets with medical conditions or pets that have had negative grooming experience in the past. Meet the Business Owner: Lisa C.

Lisa has been a professional pet stylist since 2009. Her experience ranges from working in big corporate salons to small salons. Her love of animals has been lifelong in stems from childhood. She is always had a Passion for working with dogs has she has currently have 4 rescue dogs: one Old English Bulldog, one Oldee English Bulldog and two Shihtzu. She strives to make the grooming experience as stress free as possible. She believes it is a must to have a great deal of patience and trust as well as ability to read dogs body language. She has had a great amount of success in grooming without using any form of sedation. She takes pride in her work and is very much quality over quantity type of groomer. Lisa believes that there is always something to learn in the grooming industry in strives to learn new ways to keep your dog happy and healthy

Lisa did an amazing job fixing what another groomer started! We made the mistake of having a mobile groomer come to our home to groom our Maltese Brody. He has had multiple shoulder surgeries and can be a handful grooming and cutting his nails. She called me 20 minutes into the cut and said I cannot do anything more with him. He's just to much to handle. Brody looked horrible!! I called Lisa and she said come in tomorrow morning. Lisa has groomed Brody in the past, at another location. I was being lazy wanting someone to come to the house. Big Mistake! Lisa has such a calm energy. Brody was so relaxed. She was holding him while we chatted, at the same time cutting his nails. I was amazed. When I picked him up after she performed a miracle. Brody looked so much better! My wife and I couldn't believe how good he looked! Thank you lisa! See you in 6 weeks! read more

Lisa and her staff are professional, courteous and wonderful with our dogs. We found Lisa after we were turned away from a "professional" groomer who couldn't handle our 35 lb mini goldendoodle (who was terrified). She was patient with our nervous dog-sometimes spending extra hours with him to ensure that the process was comfortable for him AND that we got a dog that was beautifully groomed. Her prices are reasonable, and the quality of the grooming is consistently wonderful. Both our dogs now go to Lisa for their grooming and pull to get inside the front door--happy dogs being dropped off and happy dogs being picked up! I am current client of Details by Lisa. I have Goldendoodle and Whoodle who see Lisa for grooming every 1-2 months. Last night, my pups got into some brush where they got covered in burrs. I called Lisa in a panic due to their discomfort and she came in early on a Saturday morning and worked on both dogs for three hours. Lisa is a fabulous human being and groomer. We stumbled upon this place and brought our dog here. When my husband was dropping him off, he was explaining to them what kind of Cut he wanted them to do. The woman looked at him and flat out, said "I have no clue what you want", And she called for somebody else to come over and yelled "This guy is asking for something and I don't know what he wants." - In a very rude tone. Mind you, we are brand new customers, this is our first time there. Our dog is a golden retriever and so he's the happiest dog you'll ever meet. Because it was our first time I called an hour later to check up and see what his status was and how he's doing. The woman that worked there (didn't get her name but she was a very tough and rude woman) was very mean as if I was bothering her when I called. I simply was asking for an update to see when my dog would be done, but she was not very polite. After picking him up, we noticed that he was not Himself. He was pulling us to leave. When we brought him home, he was very quiet and not his happy self. A month later we had another appointment booked and as we were walking close to the door We noticed our dog, pulling us the opposite way- He was basically telling us that he did not want to go inside. That was a huge red flag for me. I knew something happened during his first grooming Session And I'm glad we trusted our instinct the second time and didn't go through that door. Unfortunately This is not the first time I've heard of an experience like this from This place. 2 other friends who have dogs stopped going there too because of similar stories. I don't know what happens behind closed doors at Studio Groomers, But all I know is that if they treat humans like myself so mean and rude, then I can't imagine how they treat dogs. I am really concerned about this place and their staff. Please, if you're reading this be cautious before going here if you care about your pet.

Let me start off by saying that I never thought I'd be posting this review. We've praised this…read moreplace for YEARS, recommending it to every single one of our friends. We've been customers since 2019, bringing our golden retriever and our Samoyed to get groomed every two months. We would even drive 40 minutes each way to drop them off every time because we loved this place. Not even the $350 price tag at every appt kept us from coming back. I'm pregnant and had a very important scan at the hospital today. Given that we have two large dogs, it's usually very hard to get an appointment. Last week I scheduled an appointment for today and explained that we would be dropping off the dogs on the way to my appointment which was at 12:30. They confirmed that was fine and not an issue at all. We arrived at 11:45 and were told that we were too late to our appointment and they could not accommodate us with an insanely rude attitude. I explained the situation and what I had originally been told on the phone, to which they responded with "it wasn't me you spoke to." I explained that we've been loyal customers for 7 years, and that we always get a call if we're more than 5 minutes late. We didn't get one today. They told me "they never call" lol. I kept explaining about our unique circumstances and if there was anything they could do to help, to which they replied "no." We ended up having to drive 45 minutes back home to drop off our dogs, and beg the hospital to squeeze me in 45 minutes late to my appointment. The amount of anxiety they caused me was just unnecessary. But that's not even what bothered me the most. It was the utter lack of empathy, and understanding we were shown despite being loyal customers for over 7 years. No apology for their miscommunication, just the absolute worst attitude I've received as a customer in a while. TLDR; if you have big dogs, go somewhere else. Theres a reason their instagram only shows small dogs, they really don't have the capacity to handle big dogs with any margin of error, even if the error is their own. Time to find a new place.
