Its approach is comprehensive: 100 % supervised, full-body regimens with personalized modifications and progress tracking. I've tried different systems for strength-training in gyms and on my own, but none gave me the results I've seen and felt in the past year. I am the most physically fit I've been in my life, and I relish the boost in my mental and emotional health from every session. Plus, I've never experienced difficulty finding or rescheduling sessions to work for me, so I've found it easy to keep the habit going. The community is unexpectedly wonderful as well. I enjoy the intergenerational semi-private group sessions and the relationships I build with other members. The spirit created is non-competitive, calm, friendly, and light-hearted. There's no intimidation. Edward, Giancarlo, and Felice are fantastic trainers. I feel amazed that I continue to learn something new about a workout, strategy, machine, muscle function, etc. at every single session. These three know their subject. They are kind, patient, and engaging with me and other members across gender identities, ages, and other demographics. I finished my rehabilitation in 2025. But, I continue my membership at Strength for Life and highly recommend them. Sure, I benefit from addressing issues that arise in other body parts. But more importantly, the program excels at meeting my weekly strength-training needs and giving me the other outcomes I detail above. P.S. There's so much more knowledge in exercise science/physiology, to which I am eager to learn and apply. Thus, Warlock is a great new gym for Crossfit and Yoga. The trainers are so knowledgeable, and equally challenge and educate me each workout. The gym is atypical, so if you're expecting amenities other than than top equipment, perhaps Golds or Crunch would be better. This gym has top of the line Rogue equipment, in a setting that is conducive to a great workout. In other words, show up ready to work out with your trainer and other crossfitters. There's a bathroom and some cubbies for your things, but plan on showering elsewhere. I'm new to the Crossfit environment, and Erik and Chris, the owners, have allayed any fears I had about hurting myself, and squashed any stereotypes I associated with Crossfitters. There's no key tag or sign in. Everyone knows you, and you just show up for your class. There's a workout on the board, so if your familiar with WODs, then your all set. If you're like me, a beginner, Erik takes the time to scale the workout and teach you the correct form to improve each week. I opted for the charter membership, which gives me unlimited classes throughout the year, including yoga. I'm hopeful that they'll also include mobility classes too. If you read this before November 1st, you can still sign up for that plan! In sum, I'll admit that I was close minded towards Crossfit, Crossfitters, and the stereotypes/ lifestyle associated with it. It isn't like that at all... It's what you make it and I'm happy I gave it a try. Warlock is for those 18 and up only (at the moment). Also, the music is phenomenal...

Designed for probably no more than 18-20 people, at first glance it looks like a big hot tub or trampoline in the River. In some ways it's a bit of both. You'll find it by meandering your way past the parking lot, beyond the sand volleyball courts, and past the basketball court to the aluminum ramp at the north edge of the park overlooking the bridge. Thankfully, the aluminum ramp means you don't need to climb sharp rocks or weed through lillypads to get into the water, instead you just walk right into the little rainbow colored plastic pool ring and land on a nylon netting that prevents you from walking on river mud. On a hot August day, it's a refreshing way to cool off and enjoy the park. You'd think that would make it busy, but in the prime afternoon heat on a Saturday, there were only 6 people in the pool, with a couple parents on the sidelines. Just in case you need a bit of privacy before getting in the pool, there are porta potties and even a curtained changing area. So many conveniences, and all without park fees. A gem for families in Beacon and for visitors who want to expand their stay beyond Dia and Main St. Bonus tip: go on Sunday and make a picnic from vendors at the local farmer's market on the river dock.

You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

Great gym with good equipment, friendly staff, and variety of people of all ages. It's clean and they offer different types of shakes for pre/post workouts, and lots of drinks to chose from which is a good thing. Definitely a place where you can work out for real, unlike PF or the more commercial gyms. Favorite gym by far. read more

The full body prob Machine was excellent in determining my body needs as well. Not as "cheap" as planet fitness but a much better and larger deal. We loved the outdoor pool too over the summer. I'm sure most people do not memorize and track their credit card expiration dates. A heads up BEFORE the card expires might be a better way for the club to handle it, rather than charging the fee after the fact. It's a good way for the club to make some extra money though; think about how many members have a card on file to pay and how many expire each year. They make $25 on each one. The people at the club desk just tell you to call the support center, which is really just a third party which manages the payments; they have no authority to waive fees. I called and left messages for IXL management twice, received no response

See, if you go to crunch, or golds, there's a thick meat fest going on, and the fellas like to hold down the squat rack for hours at a time. So, you have to work around your squats, which can ruin your flow. At Taconic, however, maybe 4 people actually do squats, so it's never a problem. Walk in, and B line it right to the squat rack. Sweet! It costs $44 a month, which is almost twice what most places charge, but you get that private feel for the extra cost. Well, it only costs me $25 a month via health ways program for being a Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance carrier. ($25 gets me in all the gyms BOOM) People apparently wait to take the worst smelling dumps ever recorded in human history at this place. I feel bad for the employees who work at the desk which is connected to the men's locker room door. Cardio equipment, free weights, cable machines, and various push, pull, ab and leg machines. A nice sized room for classes, stretching, sleeping, farting, staring at yourself in the mirrors, snorting pre workout, having a sneaky dart, etc. Staff is super friendly, although small, tiny, and weak af. Dan, Dom, and Paul are probably the weakest people you'll ever meet in your life. Don't let that fool you, it has nothing to do with the weights! The weights are perfectly fine, they weigh exactly what it says on them. Mostly, it has to do with them being extremely loose, flapping vagina holes. Seriously, go there. Support the place. It's nice to be able to lift without being surrounded by dozens of stacked ass body builders deflating your sense or accomplishment, because your a scrawny twig with horrible form and no rhyme or reason.
