I've trained there for about 6 years, and have made lifelong friends with a group of the most honest, loyal, non-judgemental and dependable people I would ever hope to find. Brian and his staff are top notch-they train and corner competitors that compete in the UFC and other professional MMA promotions, and have a clear communication style that leaves you with "a-ha" moments nearly every time you step on the mat. They literally have top-tier instruction - BJJ Black Belts, Muay Thai Champions, Division 1 and former olympic wrestling, and a Judo Black Belt. Brian's, and the staff's positive, encouraging style of instruction empowers you to learn, and you're never spoken down to or discouraged. The atmosphere and culture that has been developed and fostered in the gym as a result is free of egos, bragging, and all intimidation. It's a very welcoming, fun place. His childrens program has become extremely popular over the last year or so, and I can see why. The kids are encouraged to do well on and off the mats (there are stellar report cards hanging on the wall), treated with respect, they are learning a valuable skill and learning to stay fit, but most of all, they're having a ball! Precision's my favorite place in the world, the community there is wonderful. Every single coach is incredible- they're passionate, inspiring, kind, caring, supportive, fun, and also extremely talented in every martial art they teach. If you want to work, as you can see with each of our fighters, they'll do everything to help you succeed. Our head coach Brian supports us at every level, from our very first white belt tournament, all the way to 44th ufc fight (the most ufc fights anyone's ever had). They're a wealth of knowledge that only comes from decades of physically, mentally, and emotionally hard work. The people I've met there are also some of my best friends. Walking into an mma gym can be pretty nerve wracking, and as a relatively small girl with zero experience I was really nervous to start. Let me start off by saying I have trained at many different gyms in my life. It wasn't until I found Precision MMA that I felt I was at home. After the first class I took I knew I would be training with these guys for a long time. It has been 4 years now I've been training here and I intend to make it many more. The facility is huge! There is plenty of mat space so bumping into another group is not a problem. The facility has a boxing ring and an assortment of different bags for both Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing. The place is always clean and fresh, and the instructors promote cleanliness of everyone's gear. The coaches are the best around, hands down. Every art they teach has a top notch instructor whether it is MMA, BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling or Judo. The coaches are not only amazing martial artists but amazing instructors. They explain each technique so that everyone understands and if you don't they will take the time to help until you do. The coaches are friendly, approachable and always have a positive attitude. I started training at Precision during the Covid years with self-defense, physical fitness, and mobility as my motives. As an older member, I was concerned that I might be too old to train MMA and not fit in. Many years later, I have some fantastic new friends and some of the best coaches in the business. I know Brian to be one of the most talented, competent, and professional martial artists in the Hudson Valley. I trained with him when he first began training as a teenager, and have watched him develop into an exceptional instructor, coach, and school owner. Even now as a Gracie black belt myself with 14 years of experience, I go to Brian to help refine my technique and answer my questions, enough said. My 10 year old has participated in his kid's program, and Brian's teaching style heavily emphasizes praising as means of instruction. Our son Logan has been training at Precision for about four years now. He started in the kid's classes at ten and quickly fell in love with BJJ. The coaches train the young students in more than just martial arts. They instill self-confidence, respect, sportsmanship, and grit. Coach Brian is excellent at giving the right pep talk at the right time, using himself as an example of persevering through a difficult challenge. Logan has benefitted in many more ways than physical fitness and self-defense; the coaches are mentors and friends who have had a hand in forming his personality. Tracy F. is an obvious competitor who has no experience at this school. To those who question Brian Mclaughlin's teaching method, simply watch a class. I myself have a masters degree in education and find his teaching style to be motivating and extremely beneficial for all those involved. I started at this gym back in 2021 because I got dared into a USA Boxing Amateur Match. I figured I should at least put a good 8-10 weeks of training in, seeing as I had never boxed before. I was around 260 lbs when I started. Boxing Coach John took me on as one of his fighters without a second thought making sure I was prepared in the short time he had to work with me, I had a great showing at Ring of Hope in Albany. Coach John Cornered me along with my brother and I dropped my Opponent twice in the first round. I decided to stay at Precision because of the excellent coaching, shifting my membership to be more grappling heavy. with my background in wrestling. I've lost around 55lbs since joining. I've been training for almost 3yrs and I can say that Precision mma is the greatest place to be! All their instructors are amazing, from their ability to teach to the way they have one on one interactions with each and every student. Precision has been a major component of my life for the past three years. When I first signed up, I was a bit intimidated since I had never done anything like this before. However, the coaches & students were very welcoming & supportive. My original thought was to take about 3 classes per week, soon it escalated to 6-7 days a week (now I've scaled it back to about 4-5 days a week). I highly recommended this gym for anyone interested in learning mixed martial arts. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable on boxing, ju jitsu, muy tai, and wrestling. Muy tai and ju jitsu is taught by multiple instructors who are black belts in the respective disciplines. During the training sessions, we spend time on both techniques and sparring/rolling which helps reinforce the techniques taught and the gym is open 7-days a week.
