Great place for both kids and adults. Nice, neat, clean. Participants were working out hard, yet the place smelled fine. Sorry, but that's a big deal to me. The air kept cycling on and off for the comfort of those in the classes while I was there. My grandson is in a Jujitsu class and was getting stripes the day I was there. Proud grandma! Love bringing my kids here. They have learned so much from the many coaches that have trained my children. (Coach Jules, Coach Krystal, Coach Kali, Coach Da'vid) are some of the coaches' names. Coach Nick is an amazing coach, not just for kids but adults as well. He's a black belt who teaches Jujitsu and Muay Thai. Coach Nora is another amazing coach. He pushes our kids to be great. He teaches Muay Thai, or sometimes we call it kickboxing. He also does the HITT classes. Coach Lamar is our boxing coach, he coach at both locations, hands down to him.. Overall, the staff at dethrone is really welcoming and professional. Their programs are amazing. When they say Mixed Martial Arts they mean it.. I left this gym half a year ago after I moved away. Before I left, I told them I am cancelling my membership. The front desk told me that my membership will be on a three month hold then cancelled with a $100 fee. Three months later I am charged another $120. So I call and they tell me that it will now be cancelled. Another $120 charge. Call again and this time they assure me it is the last charge and my membership is cancelled. Why am I surprised when another $120 is charged. So since cancelling my membership I have been charged $360. I called again and the manager tells me that I have to come in and cancel. She says that there is nothing she could do for me and very rude about it. I am very disappointed by my experience with this gym's management and customer service. This is unfortunate as I actually liked the people who trained there. I do not recommend this gym. read more

I have no background experience in sports. I was talked into by a relative to try Jiu Jitsu since I wanted to pick up a hobby. Fast forward 11 months later and I love it! The gym is clean and the coaches are very nice, knowledgeable and patient. Especially the people you train with, they are more than willing to help you. I initially joined to just get off the couch. I did not know I would find a new love. Dethrone (Kings Canyon) has become a second home for me in a short amount of time. They have excellent leadership who are very encouraging and are willing to push you to the next level. Jiu Jitsu has changed my life for the better. I look forward to each class. Chino and Ryan are awesome instructors who know what they are doing and have the experience to prove it. With their leadership and example, they have created a culture of respect and camaraderie. My 7 year old son has been with Dethrone for more than 2 years. He's been taking boxing and wrestling classes. Dethrone has the best wrestling program in the Country. The Coaches molded my son from no experience to being the #1 in the Country. My son practices with 4 other Nationally ranked wrestlers in the Country that happen to be close his age and weight. There is no other gym in the Country that has multiple Nationaly ranked wrestlers. Dethrone offers multiple classes wrestling, Jiujitsu etc. I highly recommend this MMA Gym!!!! I've been training at Dethroned for about a month - mostly private lessons with Coach Noro -(Muay Thai). I think Noro is an amazing coach. He has been able to see small details that only great coaches can pick up. His knowledge of martial arts is second to none. I think this place is great to train at - lot of may space, very clean too. I also think the coaches are really solid with lots of experience. I did not enjoy my first Muay Thai class too much - I though the format was good for beginners but not for advanced fighters - I wish the coach picked up on different levels and designed a workout for everyone. With that said - I will try more classes before making up my mind. FYI - I think 7.30pm class time slot is perfect. read more

My only issue is the lack of structure. There is no real starting point they kind of dump all the kids together. Wish there was a little more explanation. The only day I felt like my son learned was when the class was so small each pair had there own instructor. He's feeling disappointed and unsure what's even going on, my husband is rooting for our son, but feel he is losing interest from large classes and not enough hands on instruction. read more

First encounter with the owner was horrible. I called to ask for a pricing for classes. Mind you I did not know I speaking to the owner of the business he kept saying he would only go over prices if I take a free class. I told him I do not have time to come into the class and asked him what is the reason why I could not get a price for a class again? He than hangs up on me mid sentence and I call him back and tells me Yes he hung up on me. He was very unprofessional and rude. He said he's the owner (so basically he can treat me how he likes) and I spoke in a clam manner and I told him that was rude of him. He than tries to call me rude. I'm upset how he thinks he can treat people like this. He tells me if I am too busy than I don't need to take his class. Never heard of a owner making decisions for myself!! He was being sarcastic towards the end of the convo. He than says it is policy as to why he can't give me a price. That never communicated and I wasn't aware of that policy. I was looking forward to beginning this summer. And Obviously he doesn't know I am taking care of a sick parent at them moment so I dedicate a lot of my time to them. Garbage gym. They tried charging me the day everyone got they're stimulus check when the gym is closed. Also they have you train with people 2 to 3 times your size so you get hurt steer clear of this place. Also they dont teach you anything before putting you with really experienced people to practice on you. I brought my kid in and she felt extremely uncomfortable. The instructor seemed to get frustrated with a bunch of kids for not knowing or picking things up fast enough. read more

This is a really good MMA gym. It has so many different types of sports here. My kids are in the jiujitsu and kickboxing classes, but They also offer wrestling and some other sports too. What I don't like is that they don't have many different class times for kids!! My kids can only go on a Saturday morning for their kids jiujitsu because we can't make it to their weekday classes after school since my kids have afterschool program until 5-6pm. Anyway, just an FYI this place only does contracts so that's not good if you want to cancel. It's not a month to month. It's a 1 year contract and they take automatic withdrawal out of your account each month whether or not your kids are still attending classes....So yeah, once you sign the concract, you're stuck for a whole year. I would say that's the #1 downfall about this place as many people don't do well with contracts and commitment. read more

He takes the time to always change up the program so it is never boring. To actual facility could use some TLC and the might think about offering some different contracts. I am 41 years old, not a mma fighter, just a fan. I heard mma workouts were amazing, so I tried AKA.. Showed up to the Bullard location. I walked in and was greeted by a man named Jason, first thing he wanted was for me to sign a 2 year contract for $$$ a month !! I told him I wasnt sure but wanted to try, he turned around and walked away !! Despite the horrible service, i tried Jiu-Jitsu with Daniel.. I was not impressed, we took four breaks in 60 minutes.. Not even a minute after class I was hit up again about signing a contract !! I told him maybe some other time.. From the initial conversation with Jason and the team at the Kings Canyon location about all the options and cost; to the first class my daughter took this week. I have to say the customer experiences and dedication to the classes are priority. My daughter is a tad shy but for the entire week all she has talked or asked about is what's next and how great she feels after class. I'd recommend it to anyone for any age. For all the time and money people spend on everyday gym memberships, this place has won me over. From rookies to vets of mma or training, from kids to adults, it's totally impressed me and my wife and daughter. Tried out their adult Jiu Jitsu classes, the instructor had a thick accent making it difficult to understand. I liked how much grappling was done but the facility is not the. Iced or cleanest. There is no changing rooms or enough sitting space for families. I appreciate having a place to put my gym bag during class. They tried to bribe me to leave a positive review right when I signed up. That's why there's positive ones. They give the members a discount when signing the contract if they leave a positive review. This place is ghetto, dirty, but what's really amazing to me is the roach issue. Not that it wouldn't be gross at a restaurant, but at least at a restaurant, you know why there's roaches there. I just don't get why they have a roach issue here. The roaches can get in your gym bag. What really pushed me over the edge was when I was using the single-stall bathroom and I saw one on the toilet seat as I was sitting down. *shiver* If you try to tell them, they'll just get mad at you and remind you that they trapped you into a contract. It's a pretty sweet place. The classes are a decent size and doesn't get too crowded. So there's enough bags and room for everyone to get a workout in. Started with the stand up stuff (muay thai and kickboxing). The schedule changed on me and now it's some kind of workout circuit. Great circuit, works you out good. I'm usually half assing it by the midway point and wondering when the water break is, apparently there isn't one, so just suck it up and get it done. The reason for the 3 stars is because the price is a bit high and wants a contract. Comon this is fresno, most people are come and go, hard for many people to commit to 1yr or 2yr contracts for the discounted rates. Or even so be able to afford a monthly cost like that. It's a great establishment, but perhaps the marketing is wrong.Secondly, the schedule change thing, I started it cause I was looking to pick up martial arts and get a good workout in and it fit my free time. My son trained there for 2 years and both of us have enjoyed the friends and students that we have met. The facility is second to none, easily the best in Fresno. Prices are very reasonable considering what you get and who the trainers are. Dethrone has the premier fighters in town so they tend to have the best trainers around to support them. Everyone is very helpful and will help if you ask for it, just don't be rude and do it in the middle of a train session. Co-owner is Jason, very good guy, he even gave me his cell if I ever had any problems. All in all its a wonderful place to train.....try it out I think they have free promos for one or two days to see if you like it or not. read more

Don't sign up for automatic bill payment!!! They make it impossible to cancel your membership. After you jump through all the hoops to cancel, they give you MORE and then tell you they allready told you. It is awful. The club itself is fine, and cancellation wasen't due to the club, i am a single mother and the decision was purely financial. But they will charge you and charge you, I was assured my membership was cancelled last month and low and behold $180.00 debited from my account AGAIN! When I said to the customer service rep, you didn't tell me it would take another 30 days to cancel, She says actually, I did. Which is completely untrue! This caused my account to overdraw and there is NOTHING I can do about it! If you can help it, never give the club's member services access to your account. You will absolutely regret it. read more

Be careful with your kids at this place! Just so you know, this company gives major discounts for giving 4-5 stars on here, before they even enroll. Therefore, people who haven't even attended yet leave a positive review just for the money they get. If you're going to bring your children, watch them very carefully, please. There is a very weird guy at the register that made it a point to make odd remarks to my child when he thought I wasn't paying attention. He asked him weird questions about being in the bathroom & he'd get real close to him. I reported him, but it didn't matter. The customers have 2 yr contracts, so they know people can't just quit. I have a soft spot for children & no mercy for people who abuse them. Parents, please take extra care your children at this facility. My nephew was a member at this place a few years ago, so I checked it out for my daughter. First thing that seemed off about this place was that the "owner" (that's what he called himself) offered me a major discount if I left a 5-star review on yelp (a 5-star review before I even join). He even told me he would write it for me, but he would have to see it posted in order for me to get the discount. I hesitated and asked if I could visit a couple more times just to observe. Then my little girl had to use the bathroom - this place is very crowded and they only have a 1-stall bathroom for women and a 1-stall bathroom for men. I was across the mat closer to the front entrance. I let my daughter walk to the bathroom without me, but I watched as she went in. The guy who worked the front desk - not the "owner" - walked over there, waited and forced himself into the bathroom with my daughter when she tried to exit. I ran over there banging on the LOCKED door and threatened to call the police if he didn't let me in. I grabbed my daughter's hand and left right away. I was shocked at what almost happened. I'm so thankful I was watching, but I will NEVER return. read more

I just left from my free session, i went to the gym that is located on Kings Cayon,and i have to tell you i had so much fun! I went to 7:00 pm class and was lucky enough to have a one on one with the instructor. Just the stretching alone had me dripping sweat! I can not wait for the next class!! My instructor made me feel welcome as soon as i got there. The feeling he gave me when i worked out with him is he knows his stuff! You can tell if a person knows what their doing when they are training and he did. The whole time i trained i was loving it, I learned so much in the short time i was there it made me think about possiblies of learning more and using the trainging in learning to be able to defend myself if i have to. The trainer made me feel as though i had known him for a long time. THats how comfortable they make you feel as soon as you go through the doors. I was able to meet the owner tonight as well and he was super nice as well as knowledgeable about what classes i would have to take or need to take to help me reach my goal of losing weight.
